The Retro-PES Corner

Different and closer angles means more LOD, that's the only reason that comes to my mind.
I don't think that camera angles affect the framerate, I think they just halved the game speed in those scenes by cutting the framerate in half, similar to how the cutscene in PES 6 is in 24 fps to give that slower panning & cinematic effect.

Had a good bit of fun with PES 5 and WE9LE last night. I’ve been running the gauntlet from these titles through eFootball 2026 and all the FIFAs in between.

I really enjoy the shooting. It feels quite close to manual shooting. The assisted passing feels a bit like cheating - sometimes it makes brilliant passes I could never do with manual passing, other times it makes very dumb passes (yes I know there is manual passing but it’s very awkward).

What I like most is the simplicity. “It’s a simple game” both literally and figuratively. Pass to the open guy and try to get off a good shot. It’s very easy to zone into the fundamentals in this game. In the newer ones, it gets so complicated.
King Zlatan had a nice half volley in my game this morning. The technique of hitting the ball down into the ground is excellent attention to detail.

Also, y’all should have told me Makaay has a rocket/laser beam of a right leg. Boy did I belt a few with him in another match.

I have to say, I am always suprised how some old winning eleven games are so good. I played this patched version od Winning Eleven 6 Final Evolution and the game is great with very hard master league and AI.

i really like how Konami structured the leagues in that ML, super league works way better in video games lol

Only major flaw that i have with that title is that you cant change the length of the match in ML, which makes you rush the matches.

Hi people, I want to ask few questions.
Is is possible when you guys are modding ps2 PES ISO games to lower overall game speed by 10 %?
If not, I was thinking in the future of investing into mini PC that I would connect into TV, and then install PCSX2 on that mini PC, and then adjust game speed there. So, a question is to recommend me some affordable mini PC that would only serve to emulate ps2 PES games, and that it runs smoothly?
Regarding that matter, I would like to play with wireless controller so which ones would be good to connect to that mini PC.
Thanks in advance people!

I'm searching for people who like to join me in a Youtube Channel.

Hi guys , so I've been recently loving the j league ps2 era , because looks like Konami actually put their full potential in the j league games and winning eleven games , anyways , I was trying to activate j league dlc for we 2012 and we 2013 on ps3 , and we've succeeded to activate 2013 a couple of days ago and let me tell you .. it's different than pes , way different .. I'll put my points in terms of what I felt while playing , since I was playing pes 2013 for over 10 years now and started playing winning eleven for days I can see significant changes in terms of
1- the game feels more ALIVE , especially in j league mode , every game feels different , you can actually feel the game and the excitement.
2- the game is more speed , but not in a annoying way
3- j league players are so so detailed graphically and gameplay wise more even than ps2 , because of the player Id technique .. it's like every player gameplay feels different.
4- the japanese commentary is absolute beautiful experience , and it's so detailed and linked to point no.3 to the point of a j league division 2 player is shooting and he says (kitajima shoot well) , and for example in the beginning of the match the analysing commentators will say that Endo is much better at passing we expect him to do something ( as I've understood haha) , which is more better than the normal English commentary
5- better shooting than pes , more responsive passing.
6- luckily my HDMI cable was broken so I switched to av composite rgb , and 4:3 screen size and the game feels different ! It's better than 16:9 actually in terms of gameplay inside match
7- I don't know but there's a FANTASY element inside the j league games or DLCs in winning eleven games , I don't know but it seems more of a imagination experience than normal pes
8- AI is better than pes

The points that were bad

1- no edit mode for j league players ( don't know why)
2- no emperor cup inside master league (don't know why too)

But overall it was a different experience than pes 2013 , looking forward to experience 2012 soon .

Is there a way or a source to "test" that PES 2013 J.League version?

The lack of stadiums over the PS2 versions are also a negative. But slightly eased with the game's stadium editor function (but not enough for every team)

Yup, forgot that one , I think that in this year they started to work on pes/we 2014 new engine , which technically destroyed the whole game afterwards haha , I used to like we 2014 because it had the j league In it , but after activating 2013 I realized how much the fox engine destroyed the game .. they had so much potential with the older engine .
I think only the j league team that had a stadium was urawa as for Saitama stadium

A laptop isn't a bad idea. You can take it everywhere, PS2 games aren't that demanding, and it doesn't have to be an expensive laptop.

I play only on pc but with pes2021/FL2025 with my "Back To The Past"'s gameplays... but if you want to play with the original PS3 game on pc maybe this can help you:

https://rpcs3.net/

maybe you need a good hardware to emulate well the PS3 and Winning eleven on pc...
I will try with pes, but i remember that my PC struggled with emulating Skate 3, even though its quite powerfull lol

I just tried that this morning, runs nicely, but I think when I put speed to 90 %, it does not feel just slower but also it lags somehow so I would play it on normal speed. Feels great when it loads fullscreen on 55 inch TV. I had some old 3rd party wired controller which i connected to laptop, PCSX2 recognized it but nothing I push on controller responds.
People say online that 8bit controllers are good for PCSX2, but I dont know should I buy that one? In any case, wired is not an option, I just wanted to test it a bit, now I am worried if I am doing something wrong and new controller doesnt respond either haha.
