The Retro-PES Corner

Ah yes that one too, but i don't like that much that version (to compare, i'll take WE9 / PES5 / JLWE9 all days.
I don't get the hype around WE9LE same as WE10 except if you like PES6. There's a lot of Pes 6 on that game, even more than Pes 2008 in terms of flow and balance.
WE10 i remember when it cames out i was on another very purist forum : we called it the worst Pes/We never released with Pes 4 as it was literally impossible to defend when you master it : even PES 6 with all the bugs and counters that game was rectified in comparison.
The faster.
If like me you don't hate PES 6 way to play but you found it too buggy and offensive oriented : try both JLWE10 Europa (a little bit updated regarding summers transfers but not a lot) and JLWE2007 (very dynamic such as PES 6 but totally bug free with a great balance between att-mid-def)
Try we10 liveware Evolution.. defensive A.i is improved and dribbling is a lil different, with bad dribblers who lose close control and flow while sprint and change direction, like on Pes2008.

No offense but i tried years ago and found it as a faster PES 6. Then later i retried and it was as fast, but less bug and defending was less impossible on certain situations. You're probably right with the AI etc., dribble.
But now as i tried every PES-6 Family, means games with the same mechanics a bit polished : it's my turn to recommend you 2 versions.

Better than both PES6 and WE10 (to me the worst WE with WE8 in terms of bugs and balance).
>1st there's J-League 10 + Europa 06-07, a PES 6 rectified in terms of bugs and with rosters a bit updated, not completely from summer unfortunately but well...
>2nd, the best from the PES 6 family : J-League Winning Eleven 2007 Club Championship. Same dynamic as both previous games, no more overlap/counter bugs, tight defense and midfield : the best calibrated and rectified from that iteration.
Let's say to me from the worst to the best not on feeling but in terms of balance, logic and playability is from the worst to best WE10 > PES6 > or = WE10LE > JLWE10 > JLWE2007CC ;)

Now there's some weird stuffs on it, like WE10LE is not updated at all but got new facebuilds...
I got a theory same as for PES5 to WE9LE.

Probably, the game get something like a re-balanced gameplay for Korean people made later with PES 6 as a basis for another part of the team in relation with Korea.
I can see clearly two paths > WE10 then PES6 then WE10LE (built way later) on one side, and from Jap side WE10/PES6/JLWE10EL/JLWE2007.
WE10LE is like a different perspective than japanese game all-the-year evolution with new iteration. Now i ain't sure about what i advance at all, but it seems more or less logic to make a game for the "K' customers.

Common point with all versions : they're all dynamic with a PES6 feeling (i like the game's feeling but not the whole package)

But thanks for your advice and the exchange mate.

Is there any patches to update this game beyond 2017? Ideally 2024 would be great but I’d take even an updated 2017 season or after. I’ve seen loads around on the internet but the downloads never seem to work or I don’t know which one is actually reliable.

Also wouldn’t mind if there is a PS4 or Xbox One option file for 2017 as well. As I’ve got the game on console as well.

On PC you can still get 24/25 Season update

For PS4 there's a guy who used to make an updated OF for 19/20 Season, link still works

You are welcome and thanks for your advice too.
I have to try this jlwe2007cc so...if i will be able to download and start a iso at least, because with fmcboot and usb i often have fragmentation.

Anyways all PS2 Pes are amazing games in their own way. I guess differents tastes make us like more one chapter than another, but it's really impossible find a bad Pes on ps2

@simogto90 i often got the fragmentation error but not anymore with MX4Sio (by using an SD card > no Hard Drive needed it's fast enough) with the 1.20
OPL version you can install on your memcard (but you will have to go to ULaunchElf everytime, or program OPL manager to get it at launch)

2nd solution, use USButil for the fragmented games, transforming the game in multiple part resolve the issue...

But sincerely about PS2 read and learn what we're doing right now, usb isn't used anymore as a storage (slowdown, errors etc.)

Now, i recommand to buy MX4SIO and the sd card sharing the same name (as it's a package pretty cheap on Aliexpress) with an "mx4sio" usb card on the package with 256gb or 128gb. Some Sandisk SD card works too.
Get a recent one for reading EFT SD Card format (faster), and get a 64 or 128mb memcard too to get everything you need.
You won't get that frag awful issue i didn't saw since almost 3-4 years i remember using the old 2008-2015 method.

>>> Off thread but intersting
I discovered a new tool, to format SD when you have to format something to install games or movies etc., on any external storage usb or an sd card.
Before i used SD card formattter, but now for use the advanced but super easy to format anything a tool called "Rufus".

I used it as i through that my Raspberry Pi was dead, but the issue was coming to the formatting before installing games : the usual "SD card formatter" DON'T format the whole content, and keep the old Volume partition which is causing some issues.
Now i got my 256gb usb full of game with perhaps 500mb free and it's running smoother than ever ;)

2002 and now we back :)

I'm dreamin' about a PS1 Pro evo with manual one-two passing as a mod. It's sad to play, especially on WE2002 or ISS pro Evo 2 where that feint works too well as it's forbiden on tournament. Just for that, i prefers to replay Winning Eleven 3 Final version, ISS Pro or ISS pro Evo 1 (WE4), there isn't a special move in those games, just things that will works better than some other but like on a real match.

Yep 1-2 is broken in we2k2 and players who play well dont use it and what we can do is just X and next fast triangle but without 1-2 we2k2 still is the best psx konami game.

Amen. I have very little energy to compare PS2 PES/WE games now, let alone debate it. They're all great, and if you've got the means to play one you have the means to play them all and see for yourself.

Some aren't "good" regarding the series, but in the whole football games ever created, the worst PES PS2 was fun, good and deep.
I don't like WE10, PES6 and PES4 but i played a full league and cups with friends on it and we all got fun.
And it would be the same if we did it with PES 2012 ps2.

I think they're all good, whichever way you cut it. But... (see previous post).
