The Retro-PES Corner

We badly need one! Who has what it takes to create one? I’m happy to contribute money towards the efforts. Deadly serious.

I was doing an editor of my own, for jleague we10 in fact i can make it for every version but it really takes lot of time and I don't understand how the emblems system work (how they're write in the option file) once i get some more motivation over it i will carry on with my project

Edit: just to be clear, I won't take money for doing it, just for fun, right now im having fun doing kitserver5 modules

I would be happy to donate too.

Strange coincidence that everyone is saying this right now as I just played J League Winning Eleven 10 + Europe League 06/07 as well as 2007 CC and was thinking that these are amazing.

All we need is a decent option file/patch that retains the 2 J.League divisions and adds the competition logos, emblems and kits and boots for the unlicensed teams and it would be brilliant.

I totally understand 🙂. Just know that anything you could possibly produce will be hugely appreciated 👏.

if im not wrong i think i already share it but anyway, https://pes5indie.com/tools/OF_Team_Editor/JLWE10/ there you can find my last version of the jlwe10 editor if i get some time i will rework a little bit the code since it is a mess and wont help me to make compatible to other jleague versions

JLWE10 Europa 06/07 is similar to PES 6 and still got uncomplete rosters (plenty of missing transfers) unfortunately.

But JLWE2007CC is not only updated to winter transfers and more complete, but also like a "PES 6 Final Evolution". Better then, but i see much more patch for JLWE10 Europa sadly. No idea why that version is put behind. I found one translation patch, and one O.F. from Wendetta.
The issue is there's all sponsors on kits, but weirdly no teams emblems (leagues emblems is an extra, but teams emblems are essential at least to me)

Don't know where to post that :
Just searched about a Virtua Striker on PS2, there isn't (only the 1st on PS3) and i found instead, from Sega, never heard about it since... Today

VIRTUA PRO FOOTBALL. Seriously it makes me think to Football Kingdom a bit more playable, more midfield battle but... Weird sometimes :
Oh dear, I was totally not aware of that. I'll see if I can get myself one copy of this (apparently EmuParadise isn't a viable source anymore as they removed all the isos long ago, and CDRomance doesn't have this very game). I'm definitely curious.

Following the recent news that Triforce has finally been emulated to a state that all of the Virtua Striker games released for it are playable despite some minor glitches/shortcomings (thank you Brodostar, you're a legend) I've been through a Virtua Striker spree lately, and one question that I was asking myself was why Sega never tried to port one of their football games on PS2 (they did so with Ferrari F355 Challenge, another Naomi classic, after all) or on PS3.

Now this must be the reason then: while it's true that they never released any "current" Virtua Striker game on PS2 or PC, it's also true that they had their football games there (on PC they got SWWS in the late '90s at least, and on PS2 we have this).

I’m sure I have the physical game. If you can’t find it anywhere then I can upload it. I’m sure I’ve these this about on the internet though.

Yes you are right. JLWE2007CC would be the better option.

Do you have a copy of the English translated version? I only seem to find the Italian one. Thanks.

Thank you pal, but I managed to get a copy of it by other means. Much appreciated offer anyway.

I'm definitely trying this out soon!

Yes but some stuffs like the "subtitles" under some stuffs aren't translated. Found them separately.
There's a version final version, but impossible to found it.

I will upload it with the O.F. i got, but unfortunately i've lost a lot of face builds due to a bad manipulation :(
Still got them on my PES 5 O.F. i'm building, except RB Salzburg (only appears on that version, good team)

Just a simple note :
The Others Europe teams are fakes, but all names are assigned, i corrected the faces who were too wrong in comparison to real ones (like De Man from Anderlecht... Impossible they should have misunderstood with someone else)
Also all presets for fake assigned. Don't use Wendetta O.F. : they modified every big players stats no idea why. But i copied from OF2 in intern the kits.

In game, it looks okay, just missing the emblems unfortunetaly. Will extract and upload on .PSU (working with PCSX2 and FreeMcBoot for those who wants to play on PS2)
It's a very good version. PES 6 freedom in attack but aggressive in defence. Dynamic but captivating.

Here we go : WE2007CC + PCSX2 memory card + save (PSU, XPS and MAX for people who still got an old stuff to import their save on PS2 lol).
(Told me if you got issue with my Google Drive, i need to connect to my account to ddl it)

Another rare version, J-League WE8 Asia Championship . All K-League teams + 6 (i think for the D2 on ML) and a lot of others AFC clubs. Less teams than JLWE9AC, but seems there's no issues with rosters not up to date i verified. No European club it's the first "Asia Championship". I can't tell to which gameplay the game is related but it's from WE8/PES4/WE8LE family. Should be more like WE8LE if i remember as the release date were closer to WE8LE.

https://www.mediafire.com/file/a3xr86oc1weowtn/J._League_Winning_Eleven_8_-_Asia_Championship_%28Japan%29.rar/file

Found it on my mediafire.... Don't understand, it seems they reduced the amount of storage. I gotted more than 6 games uploaded, now only 2. Does someone noticed the same change? It's weird. "Trash" folder is empty.

Note : If uploads it cause trouble for the website, i remove it and ask me on PM. But those games aren't on production any more and can't be recycled as they're under licence so... Plus, tons of websites purpose it for free all around the world. It's more or less the same as Sany's patch so ;)

Have fun!

Thanks @vialli82

Really appreciate it!

Just to let people know, I have found a fix for the bug where the gameplay config.exe from Jenkey of version newer than 3.21 would not open with windows 10. Simply download the version3.21 of the tool, copy the "Gameplay config.exe" (only this exe) of that version and replace the one of the newer version you would like to use. Tadam! Now the config opens and works inside he game. Of course you can't access all the options of newer version of the tool from the config but you can access them and use them inside the game. With that trick I managed to run the tool with the game exe of version 1.03.

On a side note, anyone interested to play pes13 with current season patch should consider the Space patch V4 and its updates. It is built on the PESj patch and has quality content, at least much better than PESEdit 12 I was mentioning before in terms of almost everything (players rating, tactics, number of teams, stadiums, ...).
Here's a blast from the past... but...

Pap, I don't suppose you still have Jenkey's PES 2013 tool (specifically v3.21 because newer ones won't work with Windows 10) do you?

Trying to attach some stadiums and having no luck...

Just need to grant access to your GDrive, sent a request.
Would like to open for everyone without access. But i don't know what (and why) they changed stuff with google drive.
And reduced the limit, (or my limit of GB since i'm suscribed) on Mediafire.

Just changed to "all user who got the link" right now. Normally it should work. I accepted the request BTW.

But just to try if someone else / who didn't tried to ddl JL2007CC already / may try to ddl it directly.
Tell me if it work when you got time.
So as i'm not too used with GDrive, will know what to do in the future thanks.

Its working now Vialli. Thanks so much. :)

You know I'm backing that!

Definitely repeating myself (certainly to you, @Shales, maybe others reading) but it is my dream to own 'clean' translations of all the J.League games with only team and player names, kits, and badges corrected. I would pay for this, or even the step-by-step instructions to create them from existing patches.

J.League OF editors have been created by FabVitor, at least for 2010, but he didn't ever make them public. This is a screenshot of 2010 but I'm sure he did others.

Except JLWE8 Asia Champ and JLWE9 Asia Champ (with some europe teams so > different again) : Every JL version with "Club Championship" seems to got the same structure.
Maybe there's a way, based on that version of JL2010CC, to make it compatible at least for 2007 and 2008 no?

Note : for the JLW8 version a patch resolve more or less, and there's very few teams on the version i send. Only Asia, pretty restricted : enough with that patch.

It's by far less interesting than JLWE9AC : that one compile some best teams for all 5 usual leagues + others euro/america;
There's some works to do on those teams better to do manually (fakes faces for real players, fakes names corrected on Fernando's translation but not on the back shirt...) but teams are up to date.
And the game is based on PES 5 season : but probably with WE9LE gameplay or something similar.

Only need kits and Emblems for Others Asia East, Others Asia West, Others Europe + America, etc.
No need to create super shirts, it's already hard to found shirt from that time for i don't know which Vietnam team : just Emblems, colours, and the brand is OK i think ;)
But it's only in case of someone want that very interesting version with even K-League licenced. I believe there's a lot of work if it's a structure "only for that game", but i believe from what it looks like :
To me, it's seems a replacement from usual J-League version but with teams replaced, Other Asia A replace La Liga and B replace Eredivisie and Liga for example, same number of teams for Others europe etc.

Thanks to @vialli82 I was able to play JLWE2007CC in English and it plays really well, for me slightly better than JLWE2010 and it has the added bonus of being the first version of WE/PES with Fantasista mode (Become a Legend).

I noticed that there is both an English translation (using an earlier one from Fernando I believe 1.5) as well as competition logos by Punisher located here:

https://mega.co.nz/#F!qF4zzZIA!NJgWwZ1GZ8OwFGOA00yOMg

Unfortunately the patch is in .dkz format and despite a number of attempts at installing the patch on a clean ISO with DKZ Studio I haven't been able to get it to work.

The other patch available for JLWE2007CC is by Wendetta as mentioned before but it is only in Italian. The patch does contain some nice things such as new turfs, boots, balls, adboards and I think also chants. Its available here (thanks @picaaa):

http://www.mediafire.com/file/ytr2w3by188hzj2/W07JLWENDTHERET.rar/file

If some smart person with experience of PS2 patches can merge some of the parts from both patches we would be basically 90% of the way there. We would have an English translation, J. League teams in tact, boots, faces, balls, turfs and chants and competition logos. The only thing missing would be kits and club emblems for the unlicensed teams and hopefully someone can import them from another version such as Winning Eleven 10.

Not sure additional real kits can be imported though.
If I recall correctly, WE 10 (and PES 6, after that) didn't have "blank" slots in the 0_text file to add kits and to assign them to unlicensed teams (like it was the case with WE 9 and PES 5). I assume WE 2007 CC makes no difference here, unfortunately, being of the same "family".

Ah ok, well maybe someone could go down the option file route for the kits and stuff. Vialli already included a decent option file so there is that too.

Not sure if someone like @user name 99 who made a great option file for WE10 KM Mix could take a look.

Here is a link to another patch for JLWE2007CC and this one appears to have kits for the unlicensed teams such as Premier League and those in Other Europe A etc:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/9opkl3h19c4rvr7/WEJLCCBRALT07-08.rar/file

Its by the Brazuka team from what I can see but it may be of some use to someone since it has those kits. Not sure how they are importing kits to for the unlicensed teams but maybe someone knows and can do the same and make a merge of all the good content into one.

I didn't redirected to those versions because they're not from the original game : Brazuka replace often J-League by Brasileira and it's the 07-08 season (not the (06-07 one / Winter transfers).

Thanks mate for the DKZ patch i'll see if i can apply it through.
Also @ale there's a patch for every single version with kits, even WE10 etc., and i worked on one in the past replacing all kits for NT (Frenchevolution WE10 WC 2006 patch)
I got no idea how they do to "add" a kit to unlicenced teams, but they do. Every version got a Brasilian League stuff or Argentina etc. with kits for all teams, no O.F., you can check in "Museu do patches" games by games.
Only PES 6 that i don't really remember, often they patch PES 2013 PS2, 2011 etc. as the pitch and all around it seems to use a different graphical structure (crowd, banners etc.)

Weird sometimes
I finally got to give it a try and... It's not bad, it's not bad.
It certainly has its downsides like passes not always going where you'd like them to go or being too powerful (to the extent that they "bypass" the intended player and go to a further away teammate or end up being intercepted, a thing that happened to me pretty often), through balls being almost unmanageable (but maybe it's me?), an atrocious penalty system (had they re-used the one of Virtua Striker 2, it would have been way better), me not knowing what to do when a "R2" moment gets initiated by the CPU (well that's not really to blame on the game, it's me), but it has a lot of good things.
  • Gameplay is, all in all, good. A little clunky at times, but not bad overall. It's neither on par with the glorious PES games of the same era, nor as over the top as the good old Virtua Striker series (no, Virtua Striker 4 isn't included here)... Something in between as you said.
Too bad that it won't make neither the hardcore PES fans nor the Virtua Striker aficionados happy. If you take it for what it is, though, it's worth a try.
  • Set piece selector on inactive balls. Maybe it's me that pushed something, but it looks like you could choose a preset play on, say, a corner, and see it unfold (much like you can do with PES 2021. No, there's nothing as effective as "dash" is in PES I'm afraid).
  • Loads of teams (hell, even League 2 ones!), and some of them like some Serie B ones have their own licensed kits.
  • Pretty good edit mode (you can assign a keeper long pants like Kiraly had, or even choose if a player has the lapel down as it should be or "up" Cantona style), also teams editing gives you some interesting options (like having cuffs or not at the end of the sleeves). You can't mix and match layers for kits but you have to choose between some pre-done templates (à la PES 3). Templates for kits are pretty much "current" for the season they're being used (as opposed to PES that usually gives the user the chance to use templates from the previous season), though.
Unfortunately not all the unlicensed teams can be edited (for example Palermo and Cagliari's kits are locked even if they're generic).
Pretty nice game you managed to find, thank you!

What's matter it's a funny one, to me at least : i've retried Football Kingdom after that game and it feeled not that bad, but pad in hands it's weird to direct everything, from shoot to passes and dribble. Even if you're used to it. I'd like better something with simple commands... But i was too hurry to check all the possible stuffs to do. In every case, there's a lot of feint, there's should be some others stuffs (no idea about the dash, in the same time it makes the game slower but in terms of football representation it's a miss... Perhaps there's a combination to do it? No idea. Will retry later when i'm done editing PES 2008 PS2)

FKingdom is a bit in that case. Yes, it's smoother when you turn / the word "clunky" about animations transitions is the one i would have choose for Virtua Pro Football / but also a bit weird to dribble. The way to turn to 360 degree is nice found if you want to keep playing with the D-pad, but not natural to me : you can do the same in ISS 3 using the Left Analog, pretty uncommon for games in PS2 era... That's the word : natural.

Also yes, R2 is kinda hard to master, well in 1v1 system i don't understand that much looks like a penalty left/right to pass the player, but i figured out a bit to manage it in game without confrontation and also for curving balls. It's not usual and also weird, but cool to got a button dedicated for it.

You resume pretty well the game, should include also some Virtua Striker elements but it seems so different (Virtua Striker for example isn't clunky, and ball physics... I like both in fact when the ball quickly slow down (without worplay) if your player got low stats in passing. And you can feel the players strength and weaknesses without issue, even on the vid you can see a very slow LB or LMF in comparison to the other, but with good crossing.

In brief: the issue is that the game was out too late. 3 or 4 years to develop the game and make it better and better and it could have been the second good alternative choice to PES. But when it's out in the same time as 360 and future PS3... Way too late. And sad, we could have a 3rd option with what they purposed. But testers missed some relativity regarding the fact it's the first try as a "sim" for Sega.

Imagine Virtua Pro Football 2 and next versions, if they didn't followed the test results and sells to continue the serie (zero marketing too...), with all the good ideas there's in the game, would have been way better than Virtua Striker 4 (never tried the 3).

The game was in possession of a big potential : only the game flow, midfield battle, easy to play but good attack/def balance is enough to me to said "it's a game with some future, and i already have fun with their first version". The last sentence is what's matter. I don't have fun playing Football Kingdom for ex. sorry for the fans it's just personnal : the games bores me.

About Edit mode, yes it's very complete : but it's sad there's zero FAQS or whatever to reproduce at least some badge. An editor like for PES, no way as it's out too late and practically unknown. I was also very surprised by all the D2 for every full league, and also the variety of "Others teams" from some MLS teams to Gamba Osaka, or Saudi and K-League... Looks like every good league not in game got a team dedicated, it's pretty cool.
But the D2 i was more WTF was Eredivisie D2 😆 the "career" mode would be pretty cool too regarding all those D2.

AND also 4 divisions for English League! That's a first to me from that season (perhaps in FIFA 07 no idea)

Sad that we're not 15 year in the past and we need to learn how to create emblems. It's super complete in terms of elements choice, there's even some which are on real badges and only needs to be replaced. Emblems seems to got a bigger resolutions than PES. I manager to check for Chelsea as it looks a bit like the real one, it seems (assumption) that you got to switch 5 or 6 elements to others to got the real one. Can try also with Game Graphics Studio as it's super simple to switches stuffs like that, needs the format + size etc.

If ever you manage to do some kits lookalike (even without sponsor) or some emblems @ale don't hesitate to share boss i'll be pretty happy just to play with a small but good graphical lookalike on this game :SAL:

i don t know how anyone can overlook the bad keepers on pes 2021, man they stand still on goal in a 1 on 1, it s just bad, in fifa it s never like that, they should fix the keepers in PES man...i wish i could still play WE9 but to me it s just too old animation wise.
