Guimareas' starting XI

Guimaraes started the game brightly, and created some promising play, particulary from midfielders Martinho and Miranda. The pressure on Mallorca showed in the 33rd minute, when Castello, pursued by several defenders, was one on one with keeper Sander Westerveld. Castello's shot was saved, but the Brazilian managed to follow up on the loose ball. Moments before attempting to dink it into the net, the striker was cruedly brought down by a defender in the box. César Peixoto opted to take the spot kick, and calmly converted it past the Dutch keeper to make it 1-0 to the home side. Guimaraes were bouyant now, and they surged forward in the remainder of the first half in an attempt to put the game past the islanders. In the second half, Guimaraes slowed the pace and attempted to keep possession. Midfielder Miranda was lucky not to get booked after diving several times when robbed of possession. The manager will rue the subsequent missed chances, however, because in the 74th minute Mallorca struck a deadly blow with an equaliser from Japanese sensation, Yoshito Okubo. Jesús Perera struck a ferocious left footed shot from outside the area, which beat keeper Ivaninho only to hit the post. Okubo, alert as ever, came flying in to head the rebound into the back of the net. Not a disastrous start, but the manager will see that as 2 points dropped.

Wow.. lol what's going on here Prof? I've never seen that in my games. I've seen players dive after being tackled but this one it seems the Mallorca got a hold of his shirt and fouled him with his arm which I ain't seen before. and Miranda of course made a total big deal out of it like real life lol.

Man I wish i had your camera hahhahaa

Wow, awesome report Prof...those highlights are great:)

To Edit the names of the default team, do you need the PC version or this possible on the pS2 version in some way

FC SICILY LAND GONZALEZ

FC Sicily have won the race to land Boca Juniors defender César Gonzalez, with the Argetine signing a five-year contract with the Sicily giants.

The Argetine defender was bought for 3 Million Euros, after Boca agreed on an improved offer, before making a move to FC Sicily this evening.

Gonzalez, 21 has earned rave reviews during Boca's fine campaign and had been linked with a summer move away from Argentina.

The Argetine, though, scotched talk of a summer departure recently by insisting he would give his all to Boca for the remainder of the season before heading out at the end of the closing season.

"I am thrilled at the prospect of playing for FC Sicily and in Serie A," he told the club's website.

"It is one of the best leagues in the world. I look forward to joining the squad tomorrow."

FC Sicily boss Mr. Laam has been busy shaping his squad and is still looking for another player before the transfer window closes.

Why not just edit the team name and the players names into another team?

If you edit the names on the option in Edit mode the names will change even in the middle of Master League...

But for how long?

In an attempt at keeping their promotion hopes alive,Division 2 leaders Gobrazzi FC have bought in four new players:
Nuno Capucho-Glasgow Rangers,Portugal
Jorge Costa-Portugal
Beto-Portugal
Turofleros-Deportivo La Caruna,Argentina

Turofleros enjoyed his debut thoroughly, banging in a hat-trick in a 3-0 win over struggling Rjinkana, only to score again in the next game which was an unfortunate 3-1 defeat at the hands of third-placed Fenherbance.
Nuno Capucho,Jorge Costa and Beto have yet to play but have impressed the manager in a training match.

For your created team Prof have you put the club logo in ?

Unfortunately not, i have just used a similarly shaped/colured one. I would like to put badges in my option file though.

Here's a question for those in the know. What spec does a logo have to be, for it to show up in the game, once put into my option file (using the PESeditor)? I take it i can't be any old jpg, it has to be a certain size etc, right?

Late leveller seals safety for Superboeren

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar's stoppage time header in Berlin last night finally secured De Graafschap's status as a Division One club for another season, while at the same time dealing significant damage to relegation battlers Hertha Berlin. The draw leaves Hertha four points from safety with just two fixtures remainig.

"We have two important games now to earn our salvation", philosophised under-pressure Hertha coach Falko Götz post-match. "Today we missed out on a big chance. We cannot afford to waste any more opportunities."

The home side started well with some bright link play between Marcelinho and Yildiray Bastürk giving the Dutch visitors some problems. Indeed it was the diminutive Turk who gave Hertha the lead late in the first half, and in some style. His rising effort from twenty-five yards was too well struck for the despairing lunge of De Graafschap's in-form young goalkeeper Joos Zoetebier as it sailed into the top corner.

Basturk.jpg
Basturk celebrates his wonder goal

It should have been the spark that Hertha needed to push on and make the three points secure, but all too often there has been a lack of fighting spirit in this team, often criticised for their lack of focus and unwillingness to knuckle down and do the dirty work. The home crowd grew increasingly impatient and frustrated as they watched their team sit back and allow the opposition to take control of the match.

De Graafschap, in contrast, are evolving into a different side from the one that faced Hertha in a similar situation just over a year ago. The changes made in personnel and to their system over the second half of the season have transformed a campaign that at Christmas had been looking destined for certain relegation. The new De Graafschap is more fluid, more dangerous and less predictable going forward, virtues that have combined to haul the team away from the relegation zone. When Anouar Diba broke away in the 91st minute and linked with substitute Ruslan Valeev who placed an accurate cross onto fellow substitute Huntelaar's head, the equalising goal had been coming for a while.

"It was an important goal", contemplated Huntelaar. "Especially for the team, but also for myself. I haven't been happy with my form and I need to take chances like these to show the coach that I deserve to regain my place in the team."

Hertha must now find a way to take maximum points from both RC Lens and Borussia Dortmund if they are to stand any chance of avoiding the fate of Sparta Prague, whose draw in Lyon yesterday finally sentenced them to another relegation to Division Two. They have surely left it too late.

Albacete 1 Ruben Castro 8'

The second fixture of the season saw another home game and another score draw. The home side were shocked when Albacete took an early lead through Ruben Castro's well struck shot on 8 minutes. Albacete continued to threaten as the visitors outplayed Guimaraes for much of the game. The home side, however, were still in the game, a goal being the difference between the two sides. With fifteen minutes left to go, Professor Nutmeg brought on midfielder Quique Espinha, who manged to equalise within 4 minutes of coming on to the pitch. The home crowd erupted at the substitue's equaliser, as Espinha himself ran to the home fans and punched the air with a clenched fist. At this point Albacete's heads were down and the game petered out to a 1-1 draw.

The Portuguese press are starting to label Vitoria Guimaraes as "the draw specialists," because for the third game running, they managed yet another draw. Manager Professor Nutmeg laughed off the media's tag and in a post-match interview, added: "We may not know how to win just yet, but we know how not to lose."
This was Guimaraes' first away fixture of the season, and they visited promotion favourites Málaga CF at La Rosaleda. Guimaraes started the better of the two, when Brazilian striker Castello fired past Francesc Arnau to give the visitors the lead within six minutes, silencing the home crowd in the process. Just over ten minutes later however, and the home crowd had something to cheer about. Edgar dribbled down the right flank and fed a tricky high ball with pace into the box. A mix up between Guimaraes' keeper, Ivaninho, and the captain, Vitor Elandro, saw a comical own goal ensue, the veteran stopper heading the ball past his own keeper and into the net. Guimaraes bided their time, but in the 36th minute got a slice of luck. Málaga defender Litos, was dispossesed 25 yards outside of his own area by Miranda. The number 10, quickly composed himself and fired an early left-footed shot past Arnau from way out. After seeing the ball curl gracefully into the top right hand corner of the net, the playmaker turned to his team mates with a cheeky grin to acknowledge his goal, profiting from Litos' error. In the second half Guimaraes attempted to keep possession, but the home side came out flying. Whatever Gregorio Manzano had said to them in the half time talk, worked. Eight minutes into the second half Málaga beseiged the visitors goal, and eventually Marcio Amoroso pounced on a loose ball, yards from the goal line, to equalise.
On this occasion, Guimaraes were content with the 1 point, and they would have been bouyed with their brace against one of the division's promotion favourites. However, it remains to be seen when the club will register its first win this season. Guimaraes are currently fifth in the table.

Napoli - Return to Serie B
My player stats are based on default players, tweaked alittle bit, but hardly enough to notice a difference. Ive inserted real kits and flags as well.

After being relegated to the Serie C1/B due to financial problems, the Lega Calcio have decided to restore Napoli's status as a Serie B club. The club have kept their squad, and will be ready to fight for the Serie A, and hopefully be as successful as the golden years of Maradona.

Players to watch -
abate.gif

A young starlet from AC Milan, Ignazio Abate, has proven himself to be a potential star, like his father. He is very quick and has great vision, hence giving him great passing skills. He is bound to develop into a great player.

calaio.jpg

Signed from Pescara, Emanuel Calaio, is known for his constant goals. Still 23, he was Pescara's top scorer. Hes hoping to repeat his past success with Napoli in their run for the Serie B title.

Inacio.jpg

Product of the famous Atalanta youth system - Inacio Pia - 23 and is Brazilian. The striker has been known for his technically gifted feet. This player will be catching the eyes of many big teams as he can potentially be a star.

Creating a team and placing them in D2 sounds quite fun. Only problem really is the clubs. Is merging a league such as Spanish and Portugease the best way ?

I agree with you there thats the same problem i had but....like someone here said you have to compremise.

Quaresma Joins Livorno

Ex-Porto player Quaresma has set a 4 year deal with Livorno. The 20 year old Portugease said he knows Livorno are a failiar but hey I might be able to change somthing.
In his first match of the season for this Portugease he scored a screamer. which made the fans suprised. This season he has 2 goals and 3 assists which is great.
livorno.jpg

He has proved to be a star with Livorno.

De Graafschap start the season off right in a 9 goal thriller...

De Graafschap fans finally have something to cheer about as their team earlier recorded an amazing 6-3 win over Eredivisie rivals AZ Alkmaar.

beuktegenrbc.jpg

Ax(89) Duits(27,54,77) Van Beukering (32,39)

The match started out slowly enough, with each side trying to gain control of the midfield, and as such, no real chances were had by either side for the first 10 minutes of the game.
Afterwards, both sides seemingly found their motivation, and the real game began. Within 20 minutes each team had settled in, and both sides had 3 shots on goal in an incredibly offensive minded match which had seen the ball continuously ping pong from side to side and off each keeper's mitts.

Soon enough the crowd was sent into a pandemonium as young midfield talent Sander Duits had capped off an incredible run from midfield partner Glenn Loovens. Loovens had run off 2 beautiful give and go's with Sideback Carillho to get free down the right side, after evading AZ defenders, he sent a perfect cross right in the middle of the box, where Duits had found open space. Duits controlled the ball beautifully, then easily tapped it past the keeper.

The lead was shortlived however thanks to AZ's striker Nelisse. Right off the kick off, the Graafschap defense seemed to part like the red sea, allowing a series of passes between Landzaat and Nelisse. Nelisse was finally set free down the middle and slotted past Van Dijk's grasping arms.

After such a turn of events no one would be able to predict what happened next. The Almaar players, feeling quite cocky, charged into attack, and in the process left their defense quite weak in the back. Loovens was able to send a lovely through pass past several defenders to put Jhon vam Beukering 1 on 1 with the AZ keeper. Beukering didn't hesitate; he dropped the keeper with a shot feint, then lobbed into the open goal.

Sadly for De Graafschap, they were'nt going to have anything easy tonight. Several minutes after the Beukering strike, the teams were on level terms again as Carillho had made a blunder of clearing a cross and ended up gifting Landzaat the ball in the box and an easy goal.

Incredibly, the action would not stop there and the game would get even stranger and Graafschap would regain the lead by half time. Through a mistake in the defensive clearance, Beuekering was allowed to sneak into the far left side of the box and intercept a weak pass. With the AZ keeper rushing, Beukering sent a beautiful long lob right into the upper right corner to give Graafschap the lead. Again.
The fans were reluctant to cheer this time, but found themselves safe up through half time.

The second half would see Graafschap cement their win, and AZ recieve a third consolation goal.
Five minutes into the second half, Duits recives the ball in the midfield, finds himself unmarked and drives a lovely 28 yard Lampard bullet past a stagnant keeper. Duits would finish his hat trick 33 minutes through the second half. Much like his last goal, he would send an amazing 23 meter bomb past a bewildered keeper.

Perez would answer with a low drive across the box and into the lower corner with 7 minutes left to play, but Patrick Ax puts it out of reach when a Loovens pass sets him up on the edge of the box.

The players would retire to the locker rooms with the Stadion De Vijverberg sent into ecstacy.
