Professor Nutmeg said:I'm eyeing a diminutive Albanian who goes by the name of Fatmir Vata. He plays in midfield for Arminia Bielefeld and appears to have a cultured right foot. This makes him a good central passer and Free Kick taker. And being in his 30s, he'll add a bit of experience.
kel said:He's actually playing forward in DSC Arminia Bielefeld.
gerd said:Db, your last post is so realistic.
RKC Waalwijk is known as a "last chance" club for players who have had troubles. During the second half of the '80's they had Belgian player Dirk Goossens who once was considered as one the biggest Belgian talents (and then we had very good players and teams), who played for Anderlecht but didn't make it...Things started to deteriorate and he even ended up in jail for robberies...Afterwards there was only one club interested in him: RKC.
You are a walking encyclopedia my friend.

It's something I have always thought about dabbling in but without really experimenting to any great extent. I'd be very interested to hear how you get on.denirobob said:has anybody ever played or considered playing catennacio in their Master League ? either just in 1 game or for a whole season ?
I have been thinking of possibly using this system in the future, if i am away from home against some of the big guns in the Iberian Division.
I was thinking of a formation like this...
--------GK--------
--------SW-------
RB ---CB---CB---LB
-------------------
----DM/CM--------
SM-------OM----SM
--------------------
--------ST---------
any thoughts much appreciated.

So I guess you'd need midfield players with high Pace, Accelleration, Attack and Aggression. Counter-attack set to A, team mentality set to Auto-Defence?.Inter used elements of the Catenaccio tactic to limit their opponents' game. At the same time, the pace, vision and technique of Inter's strikers and midfielders enabled them to go the length of the pitch with three or four passes when the side did win the ball back. Herrera drilled his requirements in terms of passing and movements into the players' heads to the point where it was almost second nature and few teams had found ways of coping with it.
nerf said:Ricardo Sousa is settling in really well now. I'm playing him in a marauding OMF role in my three-man midfield, feeding the ball to his feet whenever possible. He's got a rare bit of quality that the rest of the team just don't have at all.

denirobob said:Perhaps, and I appreciate your pretty busy at the moment with 3 simultaneous management jobs, you'd consider operating as Maritimo's eyes and ears in the Low Countries. Giving me the nod about any hidden Belgian, Dutch or even Luxembourgese ?!? gems that I should know about.
I'd be happy to return the favour to Sociedad, Wolsburg and Birmingham.
Let me know, and i'll get my people to talk to your people etc...
