pes 2012 sold 2.7 million so far. don't know where u came up with the 5 million figures. maybe it shipped 5 million...fifa sold 9.something.

Well according to Adam on WENB who is very close to Konami these days says PES 2012 so far has sold 5 million + and Fifa is outselling PES 3:1 which results in 15 million + for Fifa.

2.7 million is crazy talk, where did you get that from?

"With the core game in great shape, an accompanying visual leap is vital to sway the mass market"

To me, that reads that it's a new gfx engine, which quite conceivably could have next to no impact on gameplay, particularly if they claim the core game is already in "great shape".

Maybe they feel that looks sell, so if they focus on the gfx, it'll win them a more sizable share of the huge casual player market. But these casual players want all the licensed teams and leagues, so I don't see them being won over so easily.

Anyway, I live in hope that Konami are focusing on revamping the gameplay engine and look forward to their announcements.

Is still someone who believes a word of what that guy say? i am amused really. What did he say about pes 2008? a beauty in motion? funny guy.

Has Adam ever actually been right about anything where PES is concerned?

He takes a fair kicking on these pages so maybe we should give his buddies a chance to defend him by giving us some examples where he has been proven right in the past or something, anything that can give the guy some much needed credibility on these pages?

Things like "he's nice to his gran" probably wont cut it though, we'd rather have some PES examples. Just saying like.

;)

would a dual core 2.7 ghz be good enough to really play the game the way it is ? can someone give me suggestions on how my nvidia settings should be i can't seperate my self from pes 2012 but also in dispute with the way the game is running on my system

The British sales figures of PES2012, while still woeful, don't really tell the full story. Sales of PES still hold up fairly well compared to Fifa in other parts of the world, often out-selling it. There's no way that PES will ever become an import only title in the UK. Even though it has been grossly outsold by Fifa, it still sells in respectable numbers. Besides, the UK was such a huge market for Konami and is one of the world's most fanatical football nations, so Konami will want to claw their way back to prominence here.

I appreciate that PES, worldwide, does very well, so to that end you're probably right about them stopping release in the UK, but I'm finding that retailers are increasingly reluctant to stock the thing, which must be due to sales. I don't think PES is being sold by any of the big high street retailers, supermarkets included. It seems to be available online only, give or take the odd copy knocking around.

I agree not the most reliable source but considering how close he is now to Konami i see no reason for him to make up sales figures especially when he puts Fifa at 15 million which dwarfs PES sales. Also the WENB guys have never been known to make up sales figures.

What is your source?

From my experience I've found copies of PES2012 on the shelves of every supermarket and games store I've been in recently. It's still a high profile title and being a football game will always ensure it's presence in the stores.

With more and more games sold online (for cheaper prices), whether your local ASDA or HMV stocks the game is not so important any more.

Edit - take NBA2K for instance. I've always had to buy it online because I can never find a store that stocks it. Still a popular game.

A 2.7 ghz cpu dual core should be more than adequate for pes 2012.
What nvidia card do you have at the moment? The recommenced one is the 7900 gtx so anything above that will be more than adequate.

Incidentally if you open the settings folder of pes 2012 and click specifications this will rate your current hardware, if you have 4 blue bars then you should be able to play the game at high settings.

True. It is odd though that my city doesn't seem to have any shops that stock it. Maybe it's constantly sold out ;)

Well shops like Game, Gamestation and HMV will only stock popular games pretty much (HMV less so in my opinion but it's still an issue). Take it as a sign, not that any is really needed, that PES isn't popular enough for them to deem it as worthy of shop space.

That's just the way things are. Their title of 'a shop that sells games' is a bit of a faux pas as one would expect such an establishment to sell games of differing varieties (i.e big titles and small titles) but such is the way of the things that they seem reluctant to do that.

Can i blame them? Yeah i'm going to because it's stupid, imagine if HMV only sold DVDs that came out within the last 6 months. However, at the end of the day if you want a certain type of game you can order it online pretty easily so it's not exactly that much of a problem for the consumer.

The PS3 section of my local Game store is literally one metre across and only sells chart games. The ps3 section of my local Gamestation is bigger but really there's not much more variety.

Another example i can throw out there is that I've been looking to pick up Disgaea 4 on a whim ever since release and i have literally never seen it in HMV, Game or Gamestation.

It still makes me laugh that the recommended GPU for a current gen game is a 6 year old PC GPU. I'm not trying to be a PC elitist or anything but if nothing else it shows you how far consoles are actually behind graphically. Then it makes me cry when i think just how awesome these games could look if developers looked to use current PC tech, even newish PC tech.

I wouldn't advocate Konami doing that though. Sports games seem more prone than most to being pirated. I guess any popular game is the same. Sports Interactive came out and declared how disappointed they were at the amount of FM games being pirated before 2012 came out and i can understand. It's funny that people i know who play PC games a lot don't tend to pirate them but all of those on the cusp (i.e ones who play FM) ALL seem to pirate it.

Yes to the first question. To the second, I don't even know if you need to alter your Nvidia settings. If you use Jenkey's Patch and crank up the LOD (level of detail) to max it pretty much seems to do the job. I used to go into catalyst control center for my AMD card and put AA on x8 and Anisotropic Filtering on x16 but i don't see much difference cranking up the LOD and letting the application itself do the work.

Don't quote me on the second bit though.

The 'bricks-and-mortar' stores are now pretty much dedicated to the sales of second hand games, and you can't blame them really when they'll give you £10 for a trade-in game and put it back on the shelf for £30 pre-owned. How much of a margin do they make on a new title? Nothing like that much I'd imagine.

Other than the second hand market they are essentially 'box-shifters', specialising in the latest and greatest new titles which they know they will sell enough of to make it worth their while. I remember back to my Amiga days and the independent software shops in my town. You could pick up all kinds of weird and wonderful games, both old and new. Sadly those days are long gone.

Always had the same problem with the NHL titles.
Dont kn ow if its because Ice Hockey isnt massive in the UK, although we do have a 2-tier professional league system, so shops arent as kean to stock many copies of it as they struggle to shift them. Ive always had to order it online.
On the few occasions ive seen it in Game, its been £49.99, quite a steap price with most AAA titles these days launching at £45 max and dropping to £35 and below soon after. Even saw a pre-owned copy of NHL10 in Game 3 weeks before NHL 11 was released, still being sold at £40.

Less than that, easy. I'm sure I read that supermarkets going for the £25 release prices were working at a loss to get people into the stores, recouping their loss from every nth customer who does their weekly shop or gets the beers in along with their Modern Warfare 5.

The people who are more likely to buy non-chart games are also more likely to buy online, I'd wager, which adds to the reluctance for diversity. That said the Gamestation here seems pretty well stocked beyond the big hitters.

Game and the like must pinch themselves daily that people would hand in games for £5 or £10 when they could sell them on Amazon, Play, eBay etc for the same £30. It won't be long before that's what they'll all do. I'd be surprised if online stores start using those barcode scanning mobile apps to quickly set up game/film/music listings, so you don't actually have to type anything - just post the item when somebody buys.

I've thought it before but i haven't said anything about it but does anybody feel like the game is just so scripted that it's actually scripted to react to which team is playing. I.E the game makes the one team better when playing against a lesser team.

Yes, it's been in the game since at least PES5. Seabass admitted as much around that time, saying certain teams would get a more of the momentum boost, than what would usually happen, when played against specific teams. Like Norway vs Brazil for instance was a known one.

If you can't defend, then you'd still lose, but some of the defensive errors or rebounds you'd see from Brazil did make it ridiculous. Quite frankly, it has and will continue, to ruin the game. I remember the days when it was pure skill. Or at least the momentum script wasn't as blatant/more rare. If you read the attacker, you'd win the ball. Now we have lucky bounce after lucky bounce and it just feels so pointless to play.

It seems as if the script has spread out to team strength now, which sucks even more. I wonder if it has to be done in order to make the CPU challenging. Let's not forget, the CPU on the older games was easy to beat after the first week of release. Get rid of the uncontrollable boosts and just let players play. It really destroys multiplayer.

The momentum script is possibly my least favourite feature of both PES and FIFA. I understand why it's there but I desperately want it to be an option that can be turned off.

FIFA 5v5 back 3 years ago used to be great, but in FIFA12, the 11v11 is absolutely ruined by the momentum script. Like you say, once the script is against you, it's pointless to play. I still attempt to play 11v11, but quit far more games than I complete purely because the momentum script kills it.

why need a script surely things like the weaker team having slower individual players, making more pass errors due to lesser passing stats and weaker less acurrate shots would result in a match with a craper team being more difficult with a good team.

If you go Ac milan many players are fast, great passers and amazing shooters therefore by nature you would have an easier game and score easier and create more chances

If you go Toulose surely the players are slower and cant pass as well so you dotn create so many chances and players shooting stats are worse so even any chacnes are less likely to socre than with ac milan.

Is this not the case? If so why add in a script...surely by law of stats the game would have a natural difficulty when playing with worse teams?

For me this was apparent in old pes. I mean saviola was to fast, jan koller won all the long balls, Beckahm could make amazing long balls and passses, Recoba could score from 30 yrds etcc.....but if I were using a nobody player good luck doing anything special unless I got lucky or in a fortuate position/situation.

YIPPEEEE THE GAME RUNS PERFECT !!! SORRY GUYS I'M SO FUSSY ABOUT PES THIS JUST SHOWS HOW MUCH I LOVE TH EGAME AND IT IS THE ONLY GAME I PLAY ON PC

Never had a problem finding PES in a store (here in Australia) but no where to rent it like Blockbuster, hence why usually why I buy it straight when it comes out. Not anymore after PES 12 so I'll just have to hope next years is so good they have to store it to rent :D

And just going back to PES sales, obviously it looks bad to 15 mill but like Jamezinho said, Fifa is like Call of Duty now. People just get it when its released just because they have to. I have firends who hate football yet buy it, I don't understand how you could buy a game on a sport you hate no matter how good the video game is, I wouldn't buy a baseball game.

But 5 million is still a very good number, considering Deus Ex Human Revolution sold half that and its a critically acclaimed and was highly anticipated by fans. So I don't think PES will be dying anytime soon but I doubt they would like being beaten in sales by Fifa so badly.

Deus Ex probably sold a lot more in truth on PC via digital download (steam and such)

No sales figures ever seem to track those.

Just filled out the PES 2012 survey. Do we have any clues about who manages these surveys? I'm pretty sure I gave some very good ideas and feedback, but it feels worthless because it's bound to end up in some feedback pile that Konami won't read.

I did mention a lot of the issues we have discussed in this thread, like the passing and shooting system not working properly, with either too much support or none, since there's no happy medium between the two.
Or the AI cheating in high difficulties with the scripting madness.
I also mentioned an idea about licensing classic clubs and national squads and have a mode similar do NBA 2k12's "Greatest Mode", but I doubt Konami gives a shit. Would be cool to relive some classic Champions League moments though and they even have the license to boot.

Also adding animation variety between highly skilled and lower skilled players and having much more variety in mo-cap actors. Everybody moves the same way in PES 2012, it's a bit ridiculous. FIFA is kind of venturing in this idea with their player-specific animation for Ronaldo sprinting.

Also mentioned how the feints/skill moves don't work properly, it's impossible to attack defenses like Messi does in real life. The game doesn't let you go past 3/4 players in succession. If you do happen to do it it's either luck or exploiting the animation system. It doesn't look realistic by any stretch.

Oh, well. Good feedback down the gutter. It's obvious they're more focused on WENB for feedback.
