The "Not happy with PES 2012" thread

Try before you buy is my PES motto this year. My trust in Konami is at an all time low so I will no longer automatically buy the latest incarnation of Pro Evo on release day. Never thought I'd see the day to be honest.

I have been doing this since PES2008, I never bought 2009 or 2010. The trouble is the 2011 & 2012 demos were fine, I even enjoyed the full games for a while. It took about 2 months for me to realise 2011 was bad and about 1 week to see that 2012 was also crap.
This year I will wait until the full game has been out around a month or two, if certain people on the forum are enjoying it and explain why then I might be persuaded to buy it. I will also be staying away from WENB.

Definitely. Jenkey, Chimps, Yair.....and hundreds of other people who help polish the turd every year. Konami are really, really lucky that they have such a devoted community and they should make best of what's left of it. They don't necessarily have to employ these people, just consult them on ways to improve the game.

Completely agree. People working on gameplay patches already know which things in Pes series need to be fixed as a priority

It's strange because every other industry would welcome people with talent who so openly show them how to do their jobs. I remember some dude made a video using cgi he did in his bedroom and posted it on youtube, it was so good that the movie companies were all over him almost within a day of it going online.

Yet games companies are so insular. There are people out there modding games left right and centre, in this case improving Konami's game to the point where they're keeping alive a large part of the gaming community for that game yet Konami don't seem to give a monkeys.

I sold this game about six or seven weeks ago now and haven't missed it one bit. I've spent my time with other games of much higher quality, and got my football fix mainly with PES2011 which I still really like, and I've dabbled with the Wii versions of PES. They look awful, seriously bad (basically PS2 graphics) but play very well. I think it's made more forgiving for the Wii remote controls but it works very well. It's certainly a lot more fun.

I still despise this game more than ever.
I have been playing a lot with my brother and both of us are completely and utterly disgusted with it. The main problem is how nearly every game is decided by CPU/AI errors/glitches - not by player skill.
The way the game moves your players for you even when you are have the cursor on them and are supposed to be controlling the player yourself...
I fucking hate this game with full passionate rage. Programmed by retards to a deadline they could never have made.

Even a footballer here in Australia told me he used to be PES but now it's FIFA...but I think that could be because the A-League and himself are in FIFA but not PES

And to be honest, i found gameplay patches really horrible, they made the game fifasque in too many aspects, players seem to skate.

I'd say konami should hire juce and the guy making the camera hack...the game would be miles better with those 2 guy working on it.

They would definitely be better off giving early code to guys like Jenkey rather than WENB because that guy is actually capable of doing something productive and helpful whereas people like Adam only have a first class degree in PR Bullshit/Ass Kissing and actually produce the square root of bugger all at the end of all their day's "work".

Unfortunately that is the way of the world today, people who can bullshit and talk a good game are sought after and revered more than people who can actually DO something but aren't very good at or are simply not interested in the PR bullshit role.

People like Adam who know how to "grease the wheels" will always get ahead despite having nothing of any real value to offer anyone other than a brown nose and a handful of empty promises.

Konami need people like Jenkey who are going to tell them straight what is going wrong with PES and then SHOW THEM HOW IT CAN BE FIXED. They definitely dont need a bunch of yes men who refuse to acknowledge most of the problems and wouldn't have a clue how to fix them anyway, even if they did remove their heads from Konami's ass long enough to actually listen to the community they claim to serve.

I really want PES13 to be the game that we all deserve after Next Gen games have been so poor.
But I have to say Im gutted the WENB are involved. These guys gave the game 9/10 in their review so the future still looks shit (at the moment)

Sad but true. I've heard enough from their podcasts on PES2012 to say I don't share their idea of what makes a good game. Konami are definitely looking in the wrong place if they want fan input. Jenkey, Chimps etc would have been much better bets than them.

Yeah after playing about 10 matches i've realised it's beyond fixing even with mods. Players have no awareness of the ball at all. It's like you're fighting an invisible force (the on rails script) when you want players to make a run that cuts across the defender or just a reaction to the ball at all a lot of the time.

The game is fundamentally sub-par. Things need to change and Konami won't be getting any of my money until they free up the gameplay a bit. Don't get me wrong i like the 'limitations' of players that PES allows for, in my opinion it separates PES from the way too streamlined Fifa, but it feels too often like you're fighting against the game for all the wrong reasons. Anyway i've got no sympathy for Konami. If they released a decent game then people would flock back to it. There is a certain amount of bias towards Fifa because of the licensing and the fact that historically it's been the most accessible game but PES has been its own downfall really (as has been said many times on this forum).

The game feels like it has a magnet drawing you to the goals. You only feel comfortable running forward, not in space taking your time looking for an opening from the back or the midfield. The moment you stop or slow down you feel more vulnerable despite it being the case that by stopping or slowing down you should have more time to evaluate the situation better. You should be able to look for teammates looking for the ball or making runs. Players i'm not in control of don't react intelligently at all though and rarely do this. I feel isolated. Even when making a pass, in the moment between playing the ball and receiving it you are pretty much out of control. Until the receiver gets the ball at his feet he seldom reacts leaving you feeling, as i said vulnerable. It's completely wrong in my books.

couldnt agree more lad. with adam on board all they will do is make sure the game doesnt progress in the areas that it should do like. we will have more boots and messi will look even more amazing but the gameplay will be sub standard as ever.

the game played with small teams in friendly mode is actually pretty good.

problem being once u get into ml or cl or u pick strong team the games goes into "ultra cheating mode".

I'm gonna wait on PES2013 until a while after release, and just rent it first after the usual patches are out. It's a shame because I bought ISS on PS1, N64, then every PES on PS2, but since then I tried but ultimately never bought PES2008, 2009, 2010, bought 2011 and then bought and sold 2012. That's not a good trend.

At least I'm having fun with Wii PES2012. Like I said the graphics are a shock to the system but get past that and it feels like an evolution of PES6. Not realistic, but it does have a good sense of player individuality and is at least fun.
