The "Not happy with PES 2012" thread

Which PES 2012 version do you prefer?

  • Total voters

  • Poll closed .
You know there is majorly wrong somewhere with the game if you look at these poll results....

Only 44% of people like the full game as it is now, while 56% prefer it how it was before the patch or they dont like it at all.
You probably know that stats from polls can be used just like you want. Politicians are very good at it and you look like one :)

Three other interpretations of the poll are:
1. Only 15% of the people like Demo1, while 85% like the versions that came after Demo1
2. Only 29% of the people like Demo2, while 71% do not like it.
3. Only 25% don't like any Demo or retail and 75% do.

I think the last one ( number 3 ) will be used by Konami ;)

You see, polls are very good in manipulating opinions!

HAHA!

I agree but:

- Demo 1 technically was worse than full

- Demo 2 was to fast and feel so arcade.

Full is better.
The demo was far more instinctive and responsive than the full game. That's a fact.

That accounts for better gameplay for me. The ball physics were also much more realistic and the shooting felt completely influenced by the player.

It's like the demo was engineered for manual passing whereas the full game was engineered for fully assisted passing. The manual passing is broken in the full game, especially throughballs and especially especially chipped throughballs.

Active AI has disappeared from the demo too - R3 clicks make my teammates slowly ramble towards the opposition half in the defender's pocket.

Totally disagree with you. Demo 1 technically look awful! Demo 2 pace was arcade fun game. Nothing like football.

I tell you what i am finding really annoying lately. How bad your players are at dealing with loose balls. It feels too on rails and not free at all. I'm so sick of the ball deviating in direction and the player not adjusting at all despite the fact that he more than enough time to do so. Far too often players will run past loose balls before adjusting themselves. It looks absolutely ridiculous to tell you the truth. They anticipate receiving the ball in a specific way and if that happens to deviate then the player just won't react well at all. Running past the ball, letting the ball hit them and not reacting, being unable to run into the ball and feeling like you're stuck still. Super cancel can help but often with super cancel all i find is that the player becomes free and has no idea where the ball is so i end up running past it anyway. I like the fact that it's not like Fifa and players have limitations in their anticipation and turning but most of the time it doesn't look right at all because they run past balls that they should be able to attempt to control.

On a similar point players who get back on the line are basically pointless unless the ball happens to hit them. Just like keepers, they have no anticipation at all and are more than willing to stand aimlessly in the middle of the goal instead of looking to block a shot, you know the reason that they're there.

I am also beginning to get sick of how fucking awful the physics are concerning rebounds off of players. Sometimes the slightest pass will hit a player and bounce 20 yards in the other direction at some ridiculous speed. It just looks obscenely stupid.

Probably the least important point that i'm going to make is that the CPU goalkeepers are scripted as hell to come out of their box and clear the ball. I have never seen a goalkeeper charge out of his box and not win the ball. It's like they're playing as the most perfect sweeper.

Game traded.

Unless some magnificent patch is released that fixes the many issues in this game I'll catch you all in the run-up to PES2013.

Did you come to any defining moment that made you snap and decide to get rid? I'm reaching that point.

Banged my head against a brick wall for 85 minutes in my first ML game of the season, against a rigid 9 man defence that man-marked to a crazy degree, the conceded from the same goals I always concede and seemingly have no answer to.

Lofted through ball, and low triple tap cross where my defenders leave the AI strikers completely on their own, and all this happens in the last 10 minutes. Time and time again.

At least in PES2011 that happened now and again, it felt like proper highs and lows of football. I'd dish out that kind of stuff just as much as the AI would. Here it's crazily weighted in the AI's favour.

But the ridiculous man marking and deep defending, then cheap breakaways are doing my nut. I don't even know why I'm still playing it. Certainly not for the graphics, sound or presentation. I think because Football Life looks like such a deep, great game mode, I've been hanging on trying to reach some kind of break through with this game, but it's not coming.

Play on Regular, the game's too easy to the point of being a joke. Play on Professional or higher, and it's crazily hard to the point of not even resembling anything fun. I can't do anything creative once I get 25 yards out beyond hitting long range shots, which the game invites you to do. It's the only real way of scoring. Passing and moving just doesn't drag the mass of bodies out of the penalty area.

But the AI goals it scores are a joke. They're not even realistic. 50% of them come from lofted through balls, and the rest are from crosses and free headers or players slipping into some kind of 'zone' and dribbling past 2, 3 or 4 players like they're Lionel Messi. Regardless of their ability.

That's no sense of realism whatsoever.

Quite simply no desire to play it any more.

I think with me it's a case of my gaming time getting more precious with each passing year and I have less tolerance for unfinished, buggy, dated, frustrating.....and just plain bad games any longer. I think PES ticks most of these boxes to some extent.

I've also recently picked up Forza 4, Fifa 12 and Battlefield 3, and each one is an impressive, solid, enjoyable product out of the box that just works without any tinkering. I don't have to keep overlooking things to enjoy them.

Yep, listed it up for sale tonight. Superstar level felt like it was a breath of fresh air for a couple of games, AI didn't camp deep etc, felt more balanced, but further games seemed to degenerate into the same usual crap. My team constantly outnumbered, stumble animations making me lose the ball, overpowered corners resulting in constant goals conceded from set pieces etc.

These two things finished the game for me. I lost this game narrowly, got a good attacking opportunity late on, stopped in the area and then did the speed burst move past the defender only for the ref to blow up for a foul against me for this;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5xP0-COqao

Then, in the next match, I dominated the game, finally took the lead in the 78th minute, jump out of the seat moment. Next thing I know, the AI gets an innocuous free kick near the half way line seconds after kick off. It lumps the ball into the box, and the game decides to gift them yet another dodgy equaliser with this 'save' from the keeper. And this is with the keepers patched, apparently;

YouTube - 2

Nice to see refs and goalkeepers have been improved then.

Add to that a number of times where I tried turning using the R2 dribble button and the player just left the ball behind, or got 'locked' into an animation I couldn't get out of until I lost the ball, and this game feels like a shambles to be honest. The patch issue backs that up. What a mess Konami made of this game.

Hopefully FIFA and PES2011 will tide me over for football games. Have no idea what PES2013 will be like, I think Battlefield 3 is the start of a new era for game graphics, but PES will certainly be using the same engine as before. Seeing as Konami managed to make PES2012 look worse than 2011 by a long way, that doesn't bode well for Konami. But I can't believe how basic fundamentals like the R2 dribbling that worked so beautifully in PES2011 actually feel bugged now. It seems to confuse players, like I said, by making them perform some odd shuffling animation that you can't get out of until you lose the ball, or the game gets confused with the controls and 'detatches' the player from the ball when dribbling it. You carry on where you wanted to go, the ball is suddenly left behind. Saw that several times tonight.

Like Jamezinho, no more PES2012 here.

I have played the game the last month and LTFC and Jamezinho have pretty much summed up my feelings towards the game. The only thing which really frustrated me in PES 2011 was the catch up bug but everything else I could live with. Obviously there were other areas which needed improvements such as dribbling, AI and the goal keeping but other than that I loved it and played it non stop and still do.

I think they tried to do to much in this game and have completely got their priorities all over the place, the game just feels half finished and just feels so unsatisfying. The passing and shooting feels so weak, it feels like I'm kicking a balloon and performing that perfect pass or a low drive shot into the bottom corner doesn't feel me with joy as the 2011 did.

The goalkeepers have somehow gotten worse, in 2011 they parried the shots too much when they should have caught them but I never saw them diving the wrong way or letting balls just roll into goal. They weren't fantastic but they weren't diabolical like in this game.

When people say this game feels like a 'chore', I could not agree more. Attacking if frustrating as you have to break through a 9 man defense just passing it around, I have never got a break away goal and was 1 on 1 with the keeper like I could in the PS2 PES or the Fifa's now. IF you lose the ball, you better have your troops ready as it feels like that huge battle in the 2nd Lord of the Rings film. 10 Lionel Messi's are running at you and all you can do is hope for the best. If you do manage to do a good job, don't worry, the AI will make sure that your defenders will move away from the ball for no reason what so ever or they will politely allow space for your opponent to run into. Then you need a miracle for your retarded keeper to save any shot on goal, which he won't as he will either be rounded around for an easy tap in or he'll just punch it into the net just to make sure you have ripped out all your hair.

Online has been completely destroyed by speed merchants and the fact you can't change the game speed, it is cheaters and ping pong football galore.

I've already sold the game and while Fifa 12 isn't the most amazing game, it is addictive and I found it more enjoyable than PES. After all the hype and excitement, I don't think I've been let down by a video game since Mafia 2. I thought PES 2011 was a step in the right direction but Konami tried to be ambitious and have shot themselves in the foot.

I've bought every PES on it's release since PES 3 but after this one, I think that will change, I just can't take the disappointment anymore. Hopefully one day they will get back to their best and I can be pleasantly surprised and enjoy it like I use to.

I just hope the guy I'm selling it to enjoys more than I did.

SO let me get this straight most are thinking PEs 2011 is better than pes 2012.

I have a practically unplayed copy of PES 2011 and 2012 just installed.

NOw maybe I should send back 2012 and install 2011?

?????????

No that's mainly just me who prefers PES2011. If you enjoy 2012 then just play that, or if you have both then give them a try and decide for yourself.

I'm going to play PES2011 again soon and see if it can fill my PES void. Hopefully there are some up to date option files for it. A sad state of affairs for me.

This is silly. Stick with 2012 - in spite of all it's faults it is miles better than 2011. Play some games against a human opponent on zero assist and you won't look back.

i think that pes 2011 is far more realistic and balanced than pes 2012 is, even with the catch up bug
but i told this even from the second 360 demo, basically
i was almost thinking i was crazy but now that other people are beginning to notice it i must say that despite its clunkyness pes 2011 is the clearly better game

This is so confusing I feel like sticking with FIFA 12 tbh lol. At least its tried and tested by me and I can play the game.

I just want an old PES like I used to love.

I thought 2012 may have been the answer.

I have played a few games on regular against CPU. Too early to judge but it seems pretty enjoyable to me.

2011 was enjoyable to me also when I installed and played it but for some reason I never went back to it and stuck with fifa 11. Well 1 reason..to many patches making master league crash. I wanted real teams and strips etc..But every tiem I applied a patch like firepatch pesedit etc..master league would always have crashes

Will 2012 be the same? FIFA 12 over PES 2012 due to silly issues?

After 2 weeks I have uninstalled this game. Yesterday I played 3 ML games and spent the entire time shaking my head and spotting things that need fixing. Apart from PES2011 I dont think I have ever played a game with as many problems as this, there are soo many things wrong with the games core mechanics. Its unplayable for me and I dont understand how anyone could be satisfied with it.

A few times in a match it will produce some of that old PES magic but it is swiftly countered with some new PES magic. Like dribbling past 3 players on the edge of the box with Ettori only to run into 7 more inside of it. Or scrambling around inside the box frantically trying to clear the ball, getting it out to your play maker who spots your CF is about to run off the CB, fully powering up a L2 pass to hit it in behind for him to run onto and it travels about 30 yards straight to him. Or passing it out from the back and playing it around in the midfield, builing up a brilliant passing move, hitting a long ball from wing to wing and the game selects a player in the middle of the pitch who has the ball about 20 foot above his head and even when you deselect him he still chases the ball all the way out to the wing and stands next to the intended recipient which limits his options and ruins the move.

Also the game suffers from the old PES problems as well as the new ones. Things like what Northzzz described where players have difficulty tracking a ball that has deviated from its intended destination. And one of the most annoying is where a player will casually jog onto a through ball allowing a defender to close in instead of running onto it and getting a 1 on 1. How stuff like this has yet to be ironed out I dont know.

It all adds up to a game which gives a bit of joy and excitement but is overwhelmingly annoying and frustrating. Unless Seabass decides that building PS3 games with PS2 engines is no longer acceptable I think this will be my last PES purchase. Unfortunately I downloaded it from Gamesplanet and cant trade it in otherwise I would of tried FIFA.

The days of spending all day playing PES are long gone. I can remember getting a few mates round and playing till 1, 2 in the morning and having to reluctantly swtich off when realising how late(or early) it is. Or taking my dog out for a walk and spending the whole time thinking about my ML team and how to tweak the formation or what players I need to buy. Now all I can manage is about an hour before I am totally bored and frustrated.

But that's no kind of argument whatsoever. You say stick with the game, but then say to play other people rather than single player modes against the AI. Single player is why a lot of us buy the game.

Well tbf Master league is the main sell point for me. Always loved it.

Never really tried online PEs except against freinds but that was a few years back pes3-5 and we dont keep in touch.

I play FIFA online its decent fun dunno what PES is like online?

This was back during PES 4, 5 & 6. My mates were FIFA guys then and would play PES all night and love it. Now they wont even touch PES, the game is a joke to them and to be honest I can see why.

I played pes all year round since Iss days?

PS2 master league pes1,2,3,4,5,6...Played consistently every year.

PES 2008 total POS.

Never played much footy games again until FIFA 10 at mates, thouht was cool but couldnt get into it that much. THen I bought PEs 2011 and FIFA 11, swaying to FIFA 11.

NOw its PES 2012 vs fifa 2012 time

Same here pretty much. Two of my friends who were massive PES5 fans have long since moved over to Fifa. PES just isn't a serious proposition for them any more and I totally understand why. I've stuck it out this long but I've lost all faith in (and a lot of respect for) Konami truth be told.

I've got so many great memories of the addictive ISS titles from my school and sixth form days, and PES when I was at uni and on into my mid twenties. Some of the best times of my life playing these games for hours with a group of friends. It's so sad to see the state the game is in now compared to then.

@ Chimps - I appreciate all the hard work you put into your option files so massive credit to you for that, but the very fact you have to do what you do is a big indictment of the game for me.

^^agree it seemed to me PEs 2011 was headign right way though. I was hopeful for 2012. Still seems not bad to me.

But yeh everyone I know has long moved onto FIFA and wont touch PEs with a barge pole

I wonder how much longer the series will run for in its current state. Every year it seems more people leave PES for FIFA and you dont really see anyone that goes the other way. Maybe next gen will be a reversal, much like EA saw they needed a massive change when coming into this generation. The problem with that is PES has already lost soo much of its fan base and FIFA is now good enough that even if PES did come good next gen I cant see it being enough to take away FIFAs fans, not when they have a perfectly good game that requires no patching for authenticity.

The way sales are going it wouldn't surprise me if Konami eventually stop releasing it in the UK or Europe. Being outsold in Britain by 25-1 is staggering, but it does well in Japan. I see no end to the complaints about the game's tech, it'll be this engine until the next consoles which means they're stuck with the weird animations etc for at least another 2-3 years. If PES still looks like this in 3 years, it'll be laughed at in comparison to other games. If DICE are making BF3 look as good as it does now, and NBA2K and FIFA etc are all vastly improving their graphics and animation year on year, then PES will look crazily out of date. It does even now.
