The Movies Thread

Loads of bits made me laugh from the awkward handshakes and hugging to his random attempts at giving him a nickname

the plane crash bit in knowing was intense...wow.

but the other 120 minutes - pure crap. :)

Transformers 2

Bigger, Faster, Stronger and Dumber too.

Spectacular, visually stunning, good fun.

I prefered the 1st half of the movie until
they found Jetfire (the walking cane... :CONFUSE:)

I'm a bit disappointed with the ending : the fight vs the fallen lasts 3 seconds, strange way to end a blockbuster.

9/10

Knowing - Took me by surprise. Incredible special effects, pretty freaky story and pretty good plot. A good sci-fi/thriller film. 8/10

Star Wars - Phantom Menace - 6.5/10. Was quite good, last time I watched it I was about 12. The special effects were quite good since it wasnt all CGI like Episodes 2 and 3.

Star Wars - Attack of the Clones - 4/10. Awful acting, awful special effects. This was the first film where a majority was made through computer effects so everything looked so fake and poorly made. The whole second half of the film was like watching the cartoon series.

I like it too.
But the message of the movie is "special"...
Scientology propaganda ?

7/10

Coraline - 8/10

Good story, pretty creepy at times and interesting characters. I liked it :)

Star Wars Revenge of the Sith - 7/10... woah this time I paid attention and found out so much stuff that I missed the first time. Anakin's dialogue with Padme can be skipped and you wont miss anything.... the acting in those scenes is just so bad. Now I understand why Obi Wan let himself die in a New Hope!

Drag Me To Hell - 10/10

Easily the best film I've seen this year and one of the best horror comedies ever for me. Incredibly scary, made me jump more than any film I've seen but at the same breaks it up with brilliantly done comical moments.

Watched Superbad last night for the first time. I'd rename it 'pretty bad'. Hardly any real laughs and most had already been shown on the trailers. The rest of the film was about a million swear words to make the little kids giggle and at the end awkward sex scenes with girls who all looked like they were 12.

Remove McLovin from that film and you have nothing.

Are there any funny scenes you can think of that weren't shown in the trailer or that involved McLovin?

The Last House On The Left - 7/10

Plot: After kidnapping and brutally assaulting two young women, a gang led by a prison escapee unknowingly finds refuge at a vacation home belonging the parents of one of the victims -- a mother and father who devise an increasingly gruesome series of revenge tactics.

FUCKING HELL!

Not for the faint of hearted.

Just watched Terminator 4. A total abomination. Pathetic script, characters and bland action. 2/10 to me. Unacceptable mistakes and holes in the story, ridiculous design of the action. A laughable attempt.

The series they cancelled was miles better than this.

Since the CGI has taken control of action films, they are crap. I miss good old directors filming action with intentionality, directing actors with depth and narrating the story with passion and creativity.

This film is a total let down. I'm watching Coraline tomorrow, I know this one is really good.

The Last House On The Left 2009 9/10

Intense with some of the best camera work you will see in a horror film
and also quite possibly the best Hollywood horror remake.

Australia - 8,5/10
Good WW drama

Friday the 13th - 7/10
Pulp Horror but gets an extra point for the opening section. If you've seen it you will know what I mean.

RocknRolla - 7/10
Decent Britcrime movie, just not as funny as Snatch and Barrels.

Transformers 2 - 4/10. Thought the story was crap, and the special effects weren't very convincing. They're just far too shiny and complicated. Megan Fox contributes to 2 out of the 4.

Finally someone who agrees with me, I thought it was pure crap too, don't get why people are giving so many 9/10 here. I'd gave a 5 for Megan Fox's slow motions, and that other chick.

I hated the scenes where the mom was acting stupid after eating the ganja laced cookies.
I wanted to beat the crap out of her! the movie couldve been trimmed in other areas too.

but let's see...
eons ago, a hyper advanced civilization of sentient machines traversed the universe harvesting class M suns, with a prime directive of not harvesting stars which had planets supporting life. sounds plausible to me. :)
