The Movies Thread

Ahh I thought Terminator: Salvation was a 6/10 at least. I really enjoyed it, had some good action scenes in it and didn't take itself too seriously. The story was a little hit and miss though which kind of spoiled it but overall it was miles better than T3, if anything it was what T3 should have been.

Friday 13th (2009) - Definite 2/10. As a fan of the horror genre and in particular the Friday 13th films, (some are really awful) this has to be the worst. I'm sorry but these remakes cannot re-create how great the originals were in their time. IMO the only remake that has come remotely close to being good is the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and that was only because it had a good director.

Drag Me To Hell: 10/10 (Genuinely!)

Awesome film, i didnt think it would be that good but it has everything: laughs, makes you jump etc. I throughly enjoyed it from start to finish.

Go See It! :D

100% agree.

Watched it on Friday with a packed cinema...everyone in stitches, jumping and laughing so funny...highlight of the night a woman on the front row shouting "fuck this shit" as she ran out because it was too grusome for her :LMAO:

Saw Terminator 4 last night. Jeez, what a load of shit. "McG" is such a prick and when I saw his name come up at the start my heart sunk. I usually check these sort of things, but went into T4 blind. I wouldnt have bothered if I knew he was directing.

Horrible, horrible film - I likened it to trying to be a 'greatest hits' of the Terminator franchise - i.e. what McG thought what make the audience go "oooooooh".

So (soooooo) many plot holes and stupid little sequences and a real blight on the Terminator name, worse than T3.

Why didnt they let the makers of TSCC do the movie - hell, make a TSCC movie?!

Only thing worse than T4, is knowing "McG" is involved in T5 - truly shocking.

Avoid, avoid, avoid!

I will have to see this as my other half is a Sci-fi nut, I'll take a good book and clip on reading light, I nearly went to sleep in Wolverine...

A Few Good Men (BD) - 9/10

Excellent film, very good HD transfer too.

For all of you interested in real science-fiction, there's an impressive film called "The man from earth". Don't read anything before watching it, please. It's a movie of very very low budget and there's not a single visual effect in the film. It's all in the words.

I would recommend this to everybody as it's one of my favourite films of all times with Blade Runner and the sorts.

EDIT: Really, don't read anything about it, the plot is really original and surprising and you won't like to know anything about it until you face it. Hope you like it.

Completely agree Drekkard. One of my favourite movies... although I think people need to watch it with the idea that its complete fiction and try not to think too hard into it. I think it was done very well. When the film ended I thought only half an hour had gone by.

Bloody good. Cheesy movie but the 3D is brilliant in it, some real jump out of your seat moments! 3D in HD baby!

Regarding The Man From Earth

Isn't "I Am Legend" VERY similar to it?

Not at all. There's few movies that can last like "The man from earth". It's not what happens or what they say, is your own imagination depicting and conceiving things for days what makes it great.

Wow, fascinating and incredible. The storytelling is awesome and for a film to grip me like that using just dialogue is superb. Just wow.

Night At The Museum 2 - 7/10

Good funny film with a few laughs in it.

Saw IV - 7/10

Not really that scary, just quite gruesome. There were a couple of make you jump moments though. Moral of this story - don't piss off a serial killer .

The Hangover - 7/10 - good laughs throughout the film. The retarded guy is class and there is one extremely controvesial part in the film...dno how they got away with it but SO funny.
