The Movies Thread

just saw this film VALKYRIE / 7.7/10

very good film but i felt they should have used real german actors and language to potray the story as its based on germans yet it played by mostly american actors talking in english including hitler?

I thought the same, Jonney. I started watching and turned it off after 10 mins or so, Tom Cruise just didn't seem right playing a German and it just seemed wrong.

that was good but i thought it dragged on a bit

Yea, there was a section in the middle that should have been cut, then again I was watching the Directors Cut so maybe it was.

yeah i dont know what version i saw, it was good though. the pace of some parts of it made it seem like it dragged on a bit but thats okay, i dont mind a long movie as long as im entertained.

Angels and Demons is very much ok , liked the DaVinci Code book better then the movie, this one was the other way around.

8/10

Angels & Demons - 8/10

Not read the book but I liked the movie and it didn't feel like it dragged despite it going on for over two hours.

i would rate it the same, although i like 'DaVinci Code' better.
DaVinci Code, to me, has a more interesting subject matter, more controversial.

best bit was the begining actually. they used proper german dialoge and thouht i was in for a treat. guess not. they had to make this movie appeal to the masses i suppose.

Ah a lad in work has gave me the Casshern movie to watch, might give it a go tonight. Also got "So Close" if you know that?

Casshern is kinda hard to follow in an anime kind of way, but it looks beautiful. I wish it had come out 20 years ago when I used to do mushrooms and acid.

'So Close' is Korean isn't it? I don't know a lot of Korean movies as the wife doesn't understand them and her English isn't good enough for the subtitles.

the spy who came in from the cold 7.5/10 - they dont make them like they used to, good movie

stray dog 7.7/10 - not my favourite of his but still pretty good. you can see the beginning of a great chemistry between mifune and shimura for later films

ran 9.5/10 - great movie, classic story redone by one of the greatest

The International - 7,5/10
Interesting, realistic storyline. Just a shame about the shoot-out part as it felt forced and didnt match the rest of the movie/tempo. Had a similar mood as The Interpreter.

The Escapist - 6,5/10
British Prison Break but without the ingenious escape.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall - 8/10

Good film, decent plot, funny moments, Russel Brand doesn't seem like such a twat and the combination of Mila Kunis (I want to marry her) and Kristen Bell ain't half bad eh?

Terminator Salvation - 4/10

Fucking awful. Shit story, put together very poorly, scenes skipping from one to another without any decent linking, just seemed like a hash of shit thrown together. Decent effects and that's about it, I just wanted it to end.

:(( I hope this is a one of review and others say different

I hope people don't get sucked into the hype and see it for what it is :(

Hope Transformers 2 is worth the hype!

DagsJT, i watched it today and thought it was okay. Not touching the first or second one, but better than the third. I'll give it a 7.5/10.

Watchmen 8/10

Really liked the plot... but I guess thats mainly down to the comics being good. Was very dark and made humans look like terrible creatures. I thought the special effects were a bit disappointing though.

the unedited sequence where john connor tries to pilot the helicopter, at the beginning of terminator salvation, was surreal!

overall, i thought it was a satisfactory 'prequel'.
