The Movies Thread

Bought an unlimited cinema pass earlier and just got back from watching The Incredible Hulk.

Absoloutely brilliant effects, I enjoyed the acting, some cheesy moments, top film really! I was worried that the CGI Hulk would look shit against real actors and backdrops but it looks perfectly normal and fits in well.

8/10 :))

I've got the Unlimited card, really handy.

I just wish they'd set some sort of automated booth up so you can just scan your card and pick the film you want, saves queueing up and dealing with the tits behind the counter.

Anyways, even with the Unlimited card, I still won't go and watch Hulk, it just looks shit like every other superhero flick these days.

It's pretty good mate, and it's not going to cost you anything, worth a go :DD

I'm gonna go see Indiana Jones. I wouldn't have paid for it but I'll go now I have that card ;))

I need a couple of films to watch when I go on holiday next week. Got a 4 hour plane journey to pass! Any recommendations?

Easier to look at the last few pages on this thread, loads of recommendations here :DD

Rented Cloverfield last night and watched it and i thought it was a stinking pile of shite.

99% of the characters were LOST style annoying - either they wouldn't shut up when asked to, or they'd walk away without explaining themselves or they'd stand somewhere like a zombie when told to run or the brother on the bridge who could easily have walked around the 2 men in front of him to get to the rest of the gang but instead he insisted he couldn't get past 2 blokes - why the hell the 2 blokes stopped him getting past is beyond me but the 2 girls managed to get past them easily enough.

Then you have times like the the subway tunnels where the aliens only bothered to attack when they put night vision on and before then were fine following our gang in the dark.

Our lead character is one second about to dump his life and go to japan happy the next the world is coming to an end and all he cares about is some Beth - screw his best friend and brother... he wants to run across town risking everyones lives to save some big headed small bodied girl(what is that all about?) he didnt give a toss about earlier. And she somehow managed to get from the party to across town to her apartment in the blink of an eye!?

His brother dies and all he starts to mumble on about is beth, then he runs into a store and gets a battery and just like in lost the guy with the camera who has just seen the monster decides instead of saying to the main guy 'look at this shit, its a huge monster... lets run' says nothing more than 'what are you doing, lets go'

And of course instead of just saying back 'im looking for a battery for my phone' he just ignores everyone which causes more raised voice in a boring attempt to raise the tension.

Then we have the monster attacking the chopper at the end - how the hell it knew where the chopper was when it was below a cloud of smoke ill never know and then somehow they all survive it only then to find the monster above them, the camera man stands still like a moron gets eaten and spat out ?

Then they run under a bridge and boom film ends.

The camera survives the fall from the monster to the ground and even somehow managed to survive the nuke going off at the end! That is one tough ass video camera!

I can't see why this film got such praise... its a great idea but comes off like shite.

Another annoyance with Cloverfield is how coincidental that everywhere our gang went the monster just so happened to be - and just on the off chance the monster wasn't following our gang then are we supposed to believe that for the entire film the monster just walked around in circles over and over?

The little aliens reminded me of starship troopers bugs as well.

The only interesting part of the film is the way it was filmed to look like this was some ordinary guys home made video

Indiana Jones - 6/10

Crap really. Went on for FAR too long, not remotely funny, action scenes just seemed to drag.

And what the hell was going on at the end?! Waste of 2 hrs of my time.

In Bruges - 9/10

Great film, something I'd like to watch again. Laugh-out-loud funny in a lot of parts, great acting with Farrell being particularly impressive, and a pretty good story too I thought.

The Forbidden Kingdom is really good. Its action packed and it is a bit of an epic. There's a great Jackie Chan and Jet Li fight scene. It's also got some good humour in it.

I watched Balls of Fury last night

Its a funny film, pretty much like a Frat pack/Will Ferrell film

which is fine by me :))

The King of Kongs, a fistfull of dollars. Great documentary about classic arcade gamers.. specifically king kong

brilliant!

watched it a few months ago and recommended it on here...

billy mitchell is a twat - the kind of guy you love to hate! :p

I would have gone to see that In Bruges at the cinema, but didn't really think I'd like it. I've seen it's got some pretty good reviews though!

I had free tickets to see it but couldn't make it without having to rush.

Very good film Tim, well worth watching.

hey mate, i thought so too, but then i actually went to the website they kept mentioning over and over in the movie. The filmakers left out alot of footage, at the restaurant the fillmakers make you think billy wont go in, but he did go in, and he sat with the dude from washington the whole time and they talked. There is a whole bunch of other shit they left out too. go to the website where the high scores are and read all of the inaccuracies, the filmmakers pissed me off more then billy mitchell did, they make him out to be a complete dick, but it turns out he isnt so bad...
