The Movies Thread

Last Vegas - Easily one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. A wonderful cast, heart-warming, with some very funny and poignant moments. Just a really great movie. A must see. 8.5/10

Thor 2 The dark world Good action, some nice comedic lines, good chemistry between the brothers, but overall not as good and memorable as the first Thor. 7/10

The Wolf Of Wall Street = 9/10

Loved it!!!
Great fun throughout. DiCaprio and Jonah hill were excellent.
Scorcese's best work since Casino in my opinion.Very similar to Casino in so many ways and for me, this stops it being a 10.

Diana - 4/10

Naomi Watts's work is just impressive as the Princess of Wales, but overall the movie is undeveloped, awfully scripted and annoyingly slow-paced.

RIP Harold Ramis

Ghostbusters II was the first movie I ever watched at the cinema.

American Hustle = 8.5/10

Loved it... Very good performances from the four main actors but Amy Adams was exceptionally good! Oh, and HOT!!!!

Worst. Oscars. Ever.

I thought a lot of the awards were well deserved. Jared Leto and Matthew McConnaughey were great in Dallas Buyers Club, and Gravity was quite a breakthrough film, so deserved many of the awards it got.

Also felt happy for Steve McQueen that 12 Years A Slave got an Oscar, as it was an ambitious film with some great acting.

I didn't mean the awards themselves (though I consider Her a bettr and more Oscar-worthy film than 12 Years a Slave. I mean the most lousy and lackluster ceremony ever - zero production, terrible performances, eak resources and Ellen sucked as a host. Worse than McFarlane to me.
I miss the 2012 ceremony, one of the best ever, hosted by a brilliant Billy Cristal.

I started watching Young Adult but didn't finish it, boring film.

12 Years a Slave: 7/10
Pretty good and well told story.

Rush: 8/10
Decent film and shows that you can make a pretty decent movie based on Motorsport and rivalries.
Funny they never mentioned during the F3 days that James Hunt and Lauda lived together and were actually really good friends.

Enders Game: 3/10
Started off pretty good, but as it got further into the movie just turned really really stupid and just left you thinking what an absolute crock of shit when it got to the end.

Robocop: 6/10
Actually thought the creation of Robocop and the greater look into how they go about controlling him is much better than the original, as this take up the first hour plus of the movie.
The problems come though from a very weak plot and no real villain, Clarence Boddicker made Robocop as much as Robocop himself and left open for a definite sequel but needs to see a massive improvement story wise compared to this.

@bsmaff Although what you say about Rush is true, if I were in Ton Howard's shoes I wouldn't mention it either :D

I agree, it would have ruined the whole movie, either by showing the rivalry (the way it was shown) unconvincing, or expanding the story to a useless plot.

Watched a few films recently:-

Wolf of Wall Street - 7.5/10
Was good, enjoyable, although nothing memorable.

Hobbit 2 - 8/10
Thought it was good, big fan of LOTR ,and enjoyed the Hobbit. Was guess a bit samey again, although can never get enough of Evangeline Lilly.

Paranormal Activity 3 - 6/10
I might be generous with the 6, were a few moments, but it's starting to wear thin.

yep

About Time 9/10

Amazing, well-written, sweet, touching, solid, meaningfull.
the purpose of exploiting the time travel concept was really clever and great.

About Time 8.5/10 / About Time 9.5/10 - Mrs Score

Watched this last night and would give pretty much the same score, only loses half a point for me because the hot Australian wasn't in it more.

My Mrs really enjoyed it though and says it is one of her favourite ever films.

But absolutely well worth getting your Mrs to watch it.
