The Movies Thread

Nope. Far above a lot of other "movies". The whole franchise is great if you love cars, women, chases, weapons and explosion. And I love it. I think its masculine. :D

Just seen The Dark Knight in Free-TV.

Was kind of disappointed, it did not fulfil my expectations(with were only that high because of the high ratings of this film, I personally hadn't high expectations about the Batman story stuff itself) at any point, I cannot really follow all the fans of the film and find it pretty average even with all these "different" characters.

Would not possibly watch it again as I did not made me want to be a part of this film(in opposite to F&F for example - who does not want to be Paul Walker or Vin Diesel in this movie?). It really did not touch me anywhere.

Rating: 4/10

I saw Thor yesterday.

Really enjoyed it, one of the better films I've seen at the cinema in recent years.

8/10.

TDK 4/10
FF5 8.5/10

Seriously???!!! TDK gets better and better the more you watch it. FF5, I'll stick my head out the window if I want to see cars driving past. Not for me.

Seriously. As I mentioned before, I personally had not that high expectation, because it isn't really my favourite film genre and I still got a bit disappointed and all F&F films do, what they should do: Entertain me. The Dark Knight did not entertain me at all.

And I am sure you will not see these cars driving past your window with these girls and such explosions. ;)

Fast 5

F5 fully succeeds to reinvente the series.
The car pursuits were fantastic and the action was so badass.
Can't wait for number 6.

8.5/10

I think they were just teasing the audience. I think the series should end on a high, especially since they all swore not to do one anymore

each to their own but most people loved dark knight including me. to say FF5 is better is madness!

What exactly is better? the acting? the dialgoue? the special effects? the story ? what?

Literally everything. As I said before, the cars/girls/action-genre is more fitting to me than the Batman universe and movies like this are a bit too unrealistic for me to like it. F&F is unrealistic, too, but it looks like "Well, after doing this for years you might be able to drive like this." and apart from that it is unrealistic in a funny way

e.g.
the chase with the safe tossed to the back of the Chargers at the end of F&F5.

When rating a movie I do not care that much about acting. As long as it fits in the story and looks professional, I am satisfied. Coming to this you cannot argue about TDK, otherwise I wouldn't have won that many prices. But F&F5 was more thrilling in my opinion, while being funny enough at the same time to have some loud laughs without destroying the movie's attempt to be a serious action-novel. The dialogues aren't philosophical, but this would not fit in such a storyline with criminals and street racers. This plus the whole setting with the "destination of dreams", where F&F always plays and the entertaining part make F&F5 to my favourite against TDK(although I know I am quite lonely with my thoughts about Batman's story).

@TikTikTikTikTik: I still think I'd prefer a Charger, GTR or maybe even K.I.T.T. when it comes to the question of driving a super car. The batmobile was like the movie around it: Fantastically unrealistic, fitting and looking perfect in the movie, no doubt about this, but that is simply not my favourite film genre. :)

How odd I have just been to a Motor museum that has some of the original F&F cars, as well as a couple of the Batmobiles and the original KITT as owned by the Hoff!

It also had an original General Lee, apparently they smashed up over 266 Chargers making the original Dukes of Hazard... (fact of the day)

Wow, cool, do you have the name or any address of this museum, it sounds very interesting to me.

@Milanista: Ay, why do I have to spoiler my example? It is shown in the trailers of the movie. :)

I think TDK is a great movie, but I can understand why some wouldn't like it.

It's just in case some people don't want to know about the movie. Better to be safe than sorry :)

Kings speach - very nice movie imo 8/10

TDK is for me amazing movie, i saw it about 5 times, but i always liked it..

Catfish = 8/10

A few years old now but very relevant in todays facebook/networking obsessed society.

I don't 'facebook' or use any social network sites but virtually averyone of my friends and family does.

I believe it's dangerous to allow networking to dominate a persons social activities and this film highlights it very well.

Great story, even though she was slightly odd I did feel sorry for her. I really liked the main guy too, seemed genuine.

Last week i wanted to watch some sci-fi and i found Moon and i had no clue what is this movie about. And yes it was predictible but this is not the reason why i give 10/10 to this movie. Since last week i watched it 3 times more :D Once with my girlfriend, once with my brother and once with mother. I guess the reason i watched it with other people and not alone 4 times is that i just didnt want to admit to myself that this movie is incredibly touching with great acting and even with a greater soundtrack. This is the best movie i saw in 2011 yet. This is what you call and underrated movie i guess.

Managed to watch 35 mins of Battle Los Angeles before turning it off, fucking awful film. Scripting, dialogue, acting, all so poor and I've seen better in Channel 5 B-movies. Abysmal.

It's a disgrace isn't it???

I'm about ready to ignore American movies completely... some absolutely shockingly poor stuff coming from over the pond in recent years...

Fast 5, Battle of Los Angeles... American movies haven't really changed since 5+ years ago. Just the same old ADD-inspired BS.

Biutiful 8/10

Very sad film with some incredible acting by Javier Bardem. Not really seen many of his films, except No Country for Old Men. He was really genuine in this film, and highly recommend you watch it.

It sort of reminds me of films like Magnolia.

Battle LA - 5/10
Generic, generic, generic. A nice sunday morning pointless movie. You know it's going to be poor when the backstory/introduction/tension build up lasts about 5min. Same with 2012. The whole point is to make the build up last as long as possible.

For anybody wanting to see a good Alien invasion movie you should check out Monsters.

I Am Number 4 - 4/10
Nice of them to put the rating in the title. Very much like the windbender...but with teens in midtown USA.

The Kings Speech - 8/10
Good movie, not much else to say really.

Monsters??????????????????? Are you kidding me?? That has to be the worst film i've ever seen and has the most misleading trailer ever.
