The Movies Thread

-Hall Pass -5/10

Very disappointed to be honest, too long and very dis-jointed. We've come to expect alot better from the Farrelly Brothers. Funny in parts, but lacked any real story and I couldnt wait for it to end.

- Limitless -9/10

I really enjoyed this, cracking movie. Much better than Inception and alike for me personally. Having a drug that can open up the receptors of the brain to allow 100% access as opposed to the standard 10% is my kind of drug. Well paced, well written, well acted. Great movie. Go get it.

X-Men First Class

One of the best Marvel movies, if not the best. Very convincing movie.

Fassbender/McAvoy are very good together, but Kevin Bacon steals the show. Great performance.

8.5/10

The Social Network 8.5/10

Good film, not sure how factually correct it is though
Did Eduardo really get screwed that bad or is their a reason missing as to why he got kicked out

Trust = 8/10

Engrossing movie about internet grooming.

Not really an enjoyable watch but anyone with a teenage daughter around 13 or if you have a 13 year old girl in your family the film shows the chararcteristics and behaviour patterns of how this age group now act.

He Got Game - 8.5/10

Watched this again the other day. Absolutely superb, one of my favourite Spike Lee films. One of Denzel's best.

:FAIL: Buy a heart somewhere then you are going to enjoy this master piece:P

LOL................ nah sorry gumf for me.

Watched a few movies from Sky over the weekend, with not much success.

Sorcerer's Apprentice - I shoulda expected this, but all Nicolas Cage good previous work went down the swanny with this one, awful. 4/10 (couple of points only for the hot blonde).

Predators - Now Predator has to be up there with one of my fav movies, but this crap just keeps getting piled out, Laurence Fishburne made an appearance, never did himself any favours. 5/10 (couple of points for another hot bird and another couple for the predators).

Saw VI - Should have probably stopped after the 2nd or 3rd one, that being me continuing to watch them and the movies in general. Thankfully I've heard that the 7th is possibly the last, thank feck. 5/10 (few points just because of loyalty probably).

I actually thought Sorcerer's Apprentice was decent really, some funny moments and story carried on well enough. Not amazing or anything but an easy way to spend a couple of hours.

The Adjustment Bureau - 9/10

Brilliant movie, had me engrossed the whole way through and thought the pacing was excellent along with a good storyline.

Unknown - 7/10

Obviously going to be compared to Taken, and not as good unfortunately. Thought it was a bit slow at times, fight scenes and car chase scenes do nothing for me now so they were lost on me, the rest of it was decent enough.

Paul - 7/10

A decent movie, funny in places but was expecting a little more if I'm honest. Still enjoyed it though, just nothing special.

Vantage Point(a.k.a. "8 Blickwinkel" in German, best translated with "8 POVs")

After seeing this movie for the x-th time I am still fascinated how thrilling it is. Surely, there are some smaller or larger errors in logic and acting, but all in all this is a master piece. Great story, interesting way of telling the plot, fantastic soundtrack (no songs, but very good usage of different kind of instrumental music), superb acting and a high-quality picture you don't see that often(even in the age of HD).

With the whole story told out of the perspective of eight different persons you just get a new piece of the puzzle with every new perspective until the puzzle is completed. And only with a complete overview you can understand, what is/was going on in detail. This is what makes the film maybe a bit difficult to understand when just watching it once, but you'll have a complete different understanding of the current scene when watch it a second, third or fourth time.

All in all this is actually one of the very few films where I tried to "learn" something from(the puzzle understanding thing mentioned above) instead of my usual way of looking films with the modes *Brain-off* first, before switching to *Entertain*. And I love this film, it is one of my favourites, if not the favourite one.

Score:
9/10 for the Free-TV version I just saw, because the quality of sound and image isn't that perfect it is on other mediums and

10/10 for the BD version, which is perfect in nearly all aspects(even has a Dolby-TrueHD sound in German, which is quite unusual here).
