The Movies Thread

Not even heard of those last two, not generally my taste in films. Will check them out though.

Buried - 9/10

Very enjoyable, created a great atmosphere despite the limited location and it's all about the dialogue really. Highly recommended.

9/10???

5/10 for me. Really stupid film it was only the end that saved it. Maybe I prefer Reynolds being funny.

Thanks for the movie suggestions guys :).

I watched The Prestige and Memento, both were great, I'd give them both 9/10.

Up in the Air - 8/10

The Taking of Pelham 123 - 7.5/10

Enjoyed the film but didn't like the abrupt ending.

State of Play - 3/10

Boring.

Law Abiding Citizen - 7/10

The Book of Eli - 7.5/10

A good movie for me even if it started off quite slow. Good story line and that main actress is hot!

Thinking about what movies to watch this week whilst I go to Austria at the moment I'm considering to bring: Iron Man 2, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, Inglorious Bastards and Unthinkable.

Any recommendations?

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (BD) - 8/10

Very original. Great story and plenty of funny moments. Really enjoyed it.

True Grit - 9/10

Great film. Jeff Bridges was incredible and was complemented by a great up and coming actress Hailee Steinfeld. Damon was also very good. If you liked the John Wayne film you'll love this. Another Cohen brothers gem.

Dinner For Schmucks - 6/10

Some funny moments but nothing too remarkable. Jemaine Clement made it for me, funny as anything.

Iron Man 2

8/10

Heard some bad reviews on this but I thought it was good from start to finish. Could have used a bit more action but I love the Iron Man actor in every scene.

127 Hours - 9.5/10

One of the best movies I've seen this year and it was a real roller-coaster of emotions. It was amazing, stand out performance from James Franco.

Yeah saw Touching the Void a few years back. Might check it out again now that you mention it as I thought it was a really good documentary.

Unthinkable (BD) - 8/10

Wow, very powerful film. Really makes you think how you'd react under the same circumstances.

Same watched this last night and It was so powerful from start to finish. I thought it'd be a bit boring but as you said it does make you think about what's at stake in those situations.

Did you watch the extended version Mj?

I started to watch that a while ago, got bored about an hour in tho and really couldn't be bothered to finish watching. Will have to try again sometime.

Yeah, watched the extended edition.

The Fighter - 8/10

Excellent film. It did remind me of Rocky a lot but overall I thought it was quite a unique boxing movie. Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale were great.

127 Hours - 7/10

Good acting and nice scenery... but just felt the movie was "meh".

Agreed on the "meh" description. A 6/10 for me.

It is an amazing true story and faced with the decision to live or die, would you cut your own limb off?

Don't see what else they could do with the film other than have him stuck in a rock for the duration.

This is more suitable to being a 60 minute documentary of the events rather than a 'movie'

Good, but nothing to go crazy over.
