The Movies Thread

I reviewed this a few weeks ago but I'll post again as some of you guys talking about the 1st Rec...

Rec 2 - Blu-Ray = 8/10

Liked the first one the Spanish 'Rec'.... 'Quaranteen' was an average American remake...

Loved this sequel... hope the American studios leave it well alone...

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo = 8.5/10

Reall, really enjoyed this murder mystery/thriller...

Excellent script, well acted and came together superb at the end...

Unfortunately, it looks like Hollywood have got there greasy fingers on the rights to a remake...

I don't know what the DVD was like, this is the first time that I've seen the film.

The picture looks like what the director intended, by no means spectacular but faithful none the less. It's worth an upgrade for the sound though, maybe not an immediate purchase given that you've got the DVD.

Just so you know there are a bunch of faulty discs out there, the audio goes out of sync from Chapter 15 onwards. My copy is one of them. :BRICK:

I Love You, Man - 6/10

Traitor - 8/10

Date Night - 8/10

Some really funny moments, expected it to be the new Superbad from all of the hype though.

Hancock - 8/10

Solid film, it's going to help me with my dissertation big time so I bumped it up to an 8.

iron man 2 8/10.

great story diven character development but some of the scenes were childish and some of teh cgi a bit ropey.

Magnolia 9.2/10

Absoluletly brilliant from start to finish. excellent storyline and acting. Movie is over 10 years old but its better than most of the shit that comes out nowadays. i only just watched it now because back then, i be honest, i was in to mindless commercial movies rather than complex intellectual ones like these but i find myself enjoying moves like this and a serious man a lot better than iron man 2 and so forth.

Next up is their will be blood on my agenda

I'm a bit odd when it comes to rating my favorite movies, but I think I can appreciate both commercial and cult movies.

I thought that Iron Man 2 was excellent, it brings exactly what I expected and a bit more,
I sympathized with Rourke's character for example and to me he was a complex character just like Tony Stark,
but where some would say this was left in a 2nd place, I'd say it was just like it should be, a bit hidden, and Rourke and Downey Jr did that with class.

I'm a big fan of non-commercial movies and most of my favorites are, including There Will be Blood which I just love, my friends that have eyes for commercial crap only, keep saying its boring, but I love and it is a 9-10 too.
Just like I love other PTA movies, but unfortunately I never saw Magnolia, I know I have to, but my other friends, the cult ones, saw it several times already so I'll have to go alone on this.

Edge Of Darkness - Blu-Ray = 7.5/10

Interesting thriller... Well acted and decent script... This is not an action movie nor is it about revenge as the trailer makes it look, it's got more substance than that.... Overall I enjoyed it

Iron Man 2 - Scarlett/10

I'd comment on the film as I actually enjoyed it, but it gets more than 10 just for that woman, dear god Miss Johansson is perfect.

Saw the trailer in the cinema last week, actually had me LOL'ing and I've not done that at a trailer before :)
