The Master League adventures thread

Wow geeee 3 great matches there buddy I thought me heart was gonna give in with the excitement . .great goals and moves, very exciting. . .that volley in the first game at the 4 min mark on the vid would have been amazing and in the second vid the cross out to the left wing and then crossed in for the header would have been a great goal. . . . but the third match. .. .. what a comeback I thought it was gone but you pulled it out of the fire, some nice goals and near misses . . . .hope you get through the playoffs. Hard luck on Spurs . . .thought after the second equaliser that they would have went on to win it.

Thanks Deco, yeh in that last game I changed formation, taking off both wingers and bringing on 2 center forwards and it definitely paid off. It looks like it will be the play offs for me but I will be so nervous. It's funny because Fulham have offered me a job and they also should make the playoffs. If they get promoted I may be tempted to accept the offer but I may go with realism and loyalty and stick with Barnsley.

Spurs should have went on to win as they were pressing all the way but I still cannot understand playing Son as a wing back. Hopefully it won't affect their run in.

Third match into the season against Cittadella and coming off the back of a 5-0 drubbing from Ternana in a derby match the lads needed to get back on track . . .. after this match we have a two legged cup game with Ternana again. . . should be fun.

Newly promoted Huddefield is doing very well in the EPL.
Won first match away at Everton (2-3), both new boys Bojan and Dollberg scored, but Dollberg is out injured.
Then i had a draw against Newcastle (away) 1-1.
Next match was against QPR, won that one (QPR was my bogey team in the championship, this time Huddesfield won fairly easy).
Then i had my first home game (this is typical Konami, they don't seem to have this right) against Manchester City and i won that one with 2-1.

Next game was a home match against Manchester United, which ended 1-1. Should have won that match, but that's football.

And then i had to play the mighty Sunderland away. I immediately sensed that this was the game where the scripting took over...the game decided that i would not win this one...my players were very often a step too late for a ball they normally should always been first. The game ended 4-4 which was a miracle, perhaps my best PES2017 game, and i was genuinely very happy when i scored a late equaliser. But i really don't like this aspect of the game. I don't mind loosing or drawing, but i want it to be fair. I don't want have goals against because my players don't respond to what i want them to do or do virtually the opposite. At a moment i wanted to pass forward and the ball went to the side of the pitch where he was interceptted and i immediately knew that this counter would result in a goal even if i had plenty of players back..and yes it was goal after a very unrealistic goal scramble...

The match against United is a good example how i don't mind loosing. I was slightly the better team and was leading 1-0, had lots of chances to score a second goal but missed them (and i had the feeling i missed them because i did something wrong and not because the cpu decided that i shouldn't score) and in the end United converted one of their few chances...this hapens in real football and certainly against big teams.

But being completely outplayed by Sunderland...come on. This is what should change in PES2018 (this and team spirit).

Decided to put new young signing Guedes a 21yr old Brazilian SS up for sale after quite a few starts where he showed no promise at all. . . decided to try him again v Brescia.

This game is reacting to my decisions lately. . .weird .. . Perugia v Crotone short highlights . .brought back the forgotten man Acampora. . . my go to dead ball specialist . .. .couldn't fit him in the team for months until now. . ..The Cpu received their first straight red card for a long while but even when down to 10 men I couldn't break them down . .could Acampora pick the lock? . .he gets 2 chances.. . ..what a left peg.

That's 4 wins from 5 games and up to tenth place after this 2-0 win . . ..Acampora has his place back in the team.

Skipped my first ever ML game last night.

I checked the table and Torino, who offered me their manager job a few months back are now in 2nd. there was only one more game until the end of decemeber so i just skipped it! :BYE: Ternana.

Now an interesting January, do i try and implement my philosophy on a successful team? or try and adapt their tactics to something I can work with on the pitch....

can't wait to see what budget i have!

Last 2 games of the season, finished them a while ago but only just finding the time to upload.

In match 45, we need to win and second place Aston Villa to lose to first place Newcastle to give us a chance of automatic promotion.
:CALM:

I agree, great stuff Deco.

You're just happy cos Spurs are hanging in there. . .. .2 great vids there geeeee .. the fancy flick up for the third goal against Preston looked cool . .. and the second goal v Norwich lovely .. . make sure to put up the playoff matches.

After a 1-0 win against the leaders Bari, and a further draw and win after that we had to face Ternana . ..our bogey derby rivals who have beaten us by 5 goals twice this season . .. . .in the short highlights we started off well but didn't finish too good.

Next quick vid is v Cittadella and a great piece of footwork and finish by Guedes when seen from behind the goal won the match for us as well as a last gasp save in the 94th minute from our keeper ... we didn't deserve to win but are now up to 8th position and pushing for a playoff place in the second half of the season.

Excellent goal by Guedes, probably the best individual goal ive seen in PES2017. Great saves by your keeper too.

Yes i will post the play offs hopefully today.

What level are you on Deco?

Yep Spurs are playing the best football ive seen for a long time. Poch is top notch. :)

Well done geeeee I was worried after the first leg, the amount of chances that you missed .. . .I thought it was scripted against you but no it was an easy win in the end .. .pity you couldn't finish that last move that you had . . would have been a great goal. . .. bring on Fulham.

Yeh that last shot would have been a good goal but you could see the ball was slightly under his feet and he couldn't hit it well enough.

So here it is the play off final...

Sorry for all the extra frilly bits included. Just wind past it to around the 2min mark.

Well done geeeee . .you're up with the big boys now. . .have to strengthen your squad. . .I never got through the playoffs in all my attempts. . . . .always got knocked out.

Ok after 2 defeats in succession in 2 terrible matches .. not worth highlights . .first one against Avellino was scripted rubbish and the second against Novara I couldn't get a foot on the ball. .. both ended 0-1 defeats for us. . .so up next was Virtus Entella .. . . 2 evenly matched sides in mid table . . .turned out to be mainly a midfield battle with very little chances.

Finally took over at Torino, they are 6th place and only 2 points separate 2nd to 7th so it'll be a good second half of the season battle to try and get a champions league place. They have a really nice squad, probably could do with a full back and a centre back and to lose a couple of centre midfielders.

Obviously first thing I do is make bids for Yebli and Monachello who i grew from Bari and took to ternana with me. Yebli was OPR 63 at Bari and i've grown him into a solid 24 year old Anchor Man with an OPR 76, it's going to cost me 6m euros to bring him over and i've been given a transfer budget of 18m. Monachello however has decided to retire at the ripe old age of... 26 (Twenty-Six)...

...

what the hell is that about :D

Looks like him and another one of my reliable players at Ternana whio is aged 27 have both decided to retire. The only thing I can think of is i named them both as 'my favourite players' at some point. perhaps that accelerates their retirement age? really f'ing annoyed to be honest, very unrealisitic but Monachello is like my protege can always trust him to do the job.... not anymore i guess.

Anyway i've tried to set up in the way that Torino were playing before I took over but with a couple of tweaks to suit my fluid formation. surprisingly the team spirit is in the mid 60s so it might take a few games to get up to speed as i learn what players can do what. Captain Joe Hart is still there leading the team for me though which i'm glad about.

I recorded my first game away at benevento (drew 1-1) but it didn't upload overnight so you lucky people will have to wait for that. my aim is to get a champions league place

This is how I felt when I was given a 15 year old John Terry (with the face of a 40 year old Crimewatch veteran) at the start of my third season... "Very unrealistic" is being very "f'ing" kind!

Without good gameplay, a game won't last five minutes. But when your team start to retire in their mid-20s... What does the gameplay matter?

(Sorry, bit of a rant, but I loved PES 2017 until this stuff started happening to me, and it feels like some weird kind of double-cross...)

And that's the double whammy. I've always admitted that i manafacture my ML experience to an extent, in that I won't buy players that I deem unrealisitic for my club nor will i sell players to silly clubs etc. I also won't bring in any regenerated players myself although If i inherit them when switching clubs then that's fair game. (it's annoying that despite improving the regen situation, they still come through overpowered...)

All that, despite being a bit silly I am more than happy to do BUT when your own non-regen players start retiring so young then it starts to compromise the realism that i've had to manafacture myself anyway....

sigh.

Still, this is the furthest i've gone into any master league in recent years and still think there's a few seasons in it yet.

Baring in mind I am only on Professional level so that's probably why I got through first time. I was always going to keep it at Prof for my first season until i improved. I really struggled to begin with but once my team spirit increased then it became slightly easier, still had some tough games though.

That last game Fulham only had one shot. Next season I will rank it up to Top Player and see how it goes.

Yeh I try to keep it real too. Just got promoted and was trying to buy players from the teams that were relegated, I also looked at Origi, Ings, Jansen, Ofobe, all pretty cheap at around £7 mill or something but then I realised I only have £1 mill. So I signed 2 players from the youth team but both 20 years old and I haven't heard of them. Trying to improve the team slowly rather than going for the 16year old superstars.

Also I was offered international management for Spain, Tunisia, Greece, Croatia, but decided to go for Iran as they are the lowest ranked. Didn't seem right going for Spain who are ranked no. 1. I have chosen their team already with my tactics and they went from about 70 team spirit down to about 50 so really loooking forward to playing those friendlies and seeing what they can do.

I really wish they would be able to produce random players in ML (with realistic names) I don't think it would be that difficult. And have them ranked between 50-70 OVR for a 16 year old. Some with a great future some without. That would add that extra dimension to ML and it's just a small thing.

I can't imagine that they reincarnate players because they haven't thought of generating new ones - as you say, to implement that shouldn't be a problem.

I can only imagine that it's to add some kind of fun factor to the game, some way of not losing superstars and getting bored with a load of generic names and faces after 10 seasons. Konami put in way too many of these little touches for it to be a coincidence.

In the same way that you can disable "classic players" from appearing in the ML (because apparently some people find it fun to do that), you should be able to disable reincarnation.

I know its not for everyones taste and will mess up your OF a bit but I usually look at who is retiring, go to edit mode and give them a fake name and face so say for example ibrahimovic is now called Andersson 5ft 10 diff face, boots ect

I think that's a good point.

I certainly wouldn't get bored with random new ones. One of the best things about ML and any football management game for me is when you find an unknown player that turns out to be a superstar. Having random players would add so much depth to the game in my opinion.

Or even give us the option to edit the names and faces within the ML so that it doesn't affect the other game options outside ML. But to have them progress in different ways. Again so that each player will not turn out to be a superstar. That way it's up to the individual.

I think that is a good idea but like you said it will mess up the option file. I used to do that on PES 5 but swapping option files was easier.

Do they still turn out to be superstars though?

The amount of work we're willing to do, for something that would take them a few days to add and test, never ceases to amaze me! You don't get people playing other sports games and saying "I'm going to hit this golf shot into the rough because they've made it way too easy to get a par on this hole"... We're all bonkers...

(And yet, I get it...)
