The Master League adventures thread

just finished my first master league, won the double liga and CL with barcelona, i have to say since the update that we had on the pc version a couple of days ago i find the game plays superbly on superstar, just was in the closing stages of the CL campaign, in the semi finals vs PSG, first leg at home, in front of my packed crowd, u know barcelona are never known for a buzzing atmosphere, i would like if our fans can do a Dortmund and be a buzzy crowd like at signal iduna park for example, anw first half was nothing serious, second half came and a cross from the left from alba, to rakitic in the middle, rakitic with the through ball to the substitute paco alcacer and a sublime finish to the left for his first goal of the season paco alcacer, into injury time a couple of quick passes down the middle of the field finds the run of messi on the wing, messi does the one two with sergi roberto to put him 1 on 1 with the keeper, he rounds it for iniesta and that was 2-0 and a mountain to climb for PSG who beat man city before that 5-0 in the previous round. second goal brought a frenzy of celebrations and the camp nou was buzzy and alive.
along came the second leg at psg, which was only time passer as at 2-0 down psg find themselves in the deep end, but never count cavani and co out of it, especially that it always hard to play at the park des princes, barcelona suffered before when they visited there, anw game ended 1-4 for my side, goals were coming from the this time first teamer paco alcacer a double from him and 1 goal from iniesta and rakitic and on the other end cavani scored what was his solo effort on goal to make 6-1 aggregate score to make it the ultimate final vs bayern munchen at the millenium stadium in cardiff.

Coppa Italia
Milan vs Juventus

Finally,I'm in a final,against Juventus,which has been fairly easy this season,one win,one draw.
Let's see how this one goes.

And later on today, the final game of the season,I've played it already, but I'll throw in a video for you tomorrow afternoon (today?)
Off from work today (tomorrow?) so have been a few hours of gaming.
And I've just installed the update.
Later!
Nice rock that second goal made me moist.

Great games Ram.
I had Paco Alcacer on PES 16, played as Torino, good player

Great,I had a horrible time playing vs Barca in my qtrs, holy shit how good they play.
Lost 2-1 and drew 2-2.

Shit....decisions decisions!
Started two ML,my Milan save,3rd season, and my questionable one with Inter.
The challenge is with Inter for sure, and I like the melodramatic touch.
But for now I'm playing my Milan career, since the patch,as you all know, the game has changed,a great deal, you'd have realised that if you'd stopped fiddling with your fucking option files....bastards:)
Wasn't in the mood to put up a video takes to much precious gaming time away.
Anyway!

Milan Juventus Tim Super Cup.
Open game, had beaten Juventus three times in four meetings, and this didn't go differently.
Calmer pace,more possesion football,lovely game.
1-0 came when my striker got the ball outside the box, backs turned,a quick move for some space, and bottom corner and in.
2-0 a cross from Sane, late in the game, had him as a sub,and a tired right defender couldn't catch him down the wing,Bonaventura headed it in.
Juve got one back in the 92nd minute on a corner, cool thing, they had their keeper up for it.
So first trophy in.

Samdoria away
Read on the other thread how easy the game has become....
Yeah...
This one I faced a tough defence, gave me space, but once you're in around the box, they shut you down,I tried everything, skilled players did their player,Sampdoria had backup directly
Game ended 0-0, Niang had a epic miss in the end of it,from the left side,1vs1,hits the post, rolls on the goal line to the other post,Niang first to it,missed the ball and def cleared it!

Torino away
Always tough games vs Toro, they play possesion football and they do it well, decided to scrap my press game, and focus on counter attacks, didn't create much, but scored 1-0 on a corner.
They kept possesion and tried to break me down, and I got some space after an interception, ball on the wing, switched the ball to the other wing to a running Merten who drove it up,crossed it into the box and my striker calmly rolled it in for 2-0

Bari at home
Yes Robbie your boys did a good job mate.
Newly promoted and typically Serie B,hard as rocks in defence, took every opportunity to get stops, breaking my flow and pace.
I couldn't break the down in the first half, all crosses headed away, all attempts outside the box, stopped.
I honestly thought I was getting a 0-0 draw here.
They had a few half chances,a corner and two shots on goal.

2nd half and I changed my strategy, couldn't go full on offense, since they'd probably counter and score on me,but I played with second to max offense, and most importantly, switched from attacking down the middle to down the wings.
Late in the game, again,Sane came in got some space on the wing, crossed it in,my CB Gimenez had made a 90 m rush and headed it in for 1-0
Finally!!
A few minutes after Mertens crossed it early, and my striker got the ball on his right foot and scored 2-0, beutiful cross,a mistimed offside trap and he was through.
Bari got a goal in the last minute,I wasn't playing cynically enough, should have hoofed it,but tried to pass it,and 2-1

Great games.
I just love how this game plays now,it's stunning!
And playing it on 20 minutes feels so good, you kinda need that to break down defences, think I create fewer chances now,on 20 minute, than pre patch on 15.
Fantastic game this,so stop fiddling with your OF and get in

great games there , would like to try Serie A atmosphere definitely later on as of now i am on my manchester city mission to win the EPL, things didn't start as expected, drew the first two matches as i feel my team has no claws to fight with them to get goals, i feel the lack of urgency in the attacking third for man city, i need to fiddle out more in the starting line up and the formation it seems...

Always important to have specialists, hole players/dummy runners/goal poachers etc

Olimpo dream, season 2

Settings: top player, full manual, 20 minutes

Report on match: Veléz Sarsfield - Olimpo

Highlight reel (stats and standings at the end)

8-DEPO-TROYA12C.jpg

Who is Franco Troyansky?

Franco, a 19-year old center forward, is on the verge of a breakthrough in Primera Division after scoring twice for Olimpo this season. In both cases he used his explosive speed to break through opposition defensive line, controlled the lobbed through ball exquisitely, and finished the 1 vs 1 irresistibly. He is the talk of the town in Bahia Blanca.

Franco is the second member of the Troyansky family about to make a mark in Argentine football. His older brother, Fernando, played as a defender for Olimpo during the years 2000-2005 before moving to other clubs, most notably in Austria. In a 2015 interview with La Nueva newspaper in Bahia Blanca, Franco told that he wanted to follow the footsteps of his brother. Franco also told that his older brother constantly gives him advice, especially on how to beat defenders. We can see that the advice has been sound.

Other than Franco's goal there wasn't much to rejoice in the attacking play of Olimpo against Veléz Sarsfield. The home team controlled the play and dominated events. "It's better to take 3 points than to be unlucky," commented manager James evasively. Compared to the previous season, however, it looks much better for Olimpo in their center forward department. "We have both explosive speed and aerial and physical dominance available," said James. Here it seems that speed referred in particular to Franco, while aerial power referred to the recently purchased center forward Vizeu, who seems to command the airspace in front of opposition goals.

(After the patch hit, played a few matches on superstar and dropped a bit in the league table. Didn't like it, returned to top player. Seems to be enough of a challenge. Didn't save any non-goal CPU highlights from this match, because I was practically sure they would score.)

Arsenal vs Milan Champions League game 1

This game turned out to be a nightmare,Arsenal turned out to be to good.
I had three players out,bad form, and I decided to play very defensive.
They were very good at keeping possesion, and a slight mistake in the back, and they played through me.
But I played really good defence, and they couldn't break me down,my offense were non existing, had two shots on/off goal first half, they closed me down in the last third.

It took Arsenal 70 minutes to score, and nothing I could do about it,a beuty!
Özil, right corner of the box,two footer ad passed my def,his support player tried to challenge him,Özil one side of my defender, the ball the other side, outside foot and into the goal.
Stunning goal, didn't feel cheated, hats off for that one.

Now I had to move up,and in the 87th minute I had possesion around their box, only had my CB at the back, and they counter attacked me for 2-0.
Didn't stand a chance, must change tactics next time I play them,to defensive today.

Crotone away 4th Serie A game

Simple!
Crotone needed to pay for my CL loss,I wasn't going to let this game drag on and give them any hope for a win or a point.
I did a good job and destroyed them completely.

Btw in my first four league games, three have been day games.
Love the foggy rainy ones, who knows, maybe the tin foil guys call that a placebo aswell:)
Gameplay is fantastic right now,I love that I can slow it down in the final third, use my skill full players and really beat them with good moves.
Don't think that was as easy before, since they pressed you all over the pitch.
Also, could be in my mind, but shooting toned/slowed down? Also feel that passing is a bit slower?
Perhaps the pass/shot meter fills up slower?
Feels different

Haven't been as active on the transfer market as last year,I pretty much have the team that I want from last year, needed to strengthen my right midfield though

Out: Montolivo,Adriano,Honda
In: Mahrez
Paid Leicster a small fortune, but he'll come in handy along with Sane and Mertens.

No real goals setup for this season, try to defend the Serie A title, have a good CL run, make it to the qtrs at least.

You're effective mate.
And the patented through ball, really nice!
You've dropped down from SS this season?
TP is challenging enough,I mean my Milan is:attack ovr 80 midfield ovr 82 defence ovr 78, and it's tough to win games with that team,I imagine with Olimpo it's really tough.
Good job JB

You've dropped down from SS this season?
Yes, for the time being.

Played a few SS matches this week. Some were ok, but in some I felt I needed to pass into acres of space or otherwise the CPU would always intercept. Simply didn't find that part of the game realistic.

Top player atm: :TU:.

Great win . .do you think Top Player is easier? I agree with what you have said about game changes. . .I finally got around to playing a few matches last night and found the build up and space on the pitch fantastic and the defenses very hard to break down sometimes . .. .I'm seeing goals that I haven't seen before. . .2 examples in this clip Perugia v Cagliari. . . . .the first a goal from Perugia then an equaliser from me and then the winner. . . .I'm on Top Player manual 15mins for the moment as my Team spirit is only in the 40's.

To be honest Perugia should have been 5 up at half time but I tweaked the tactics for the second half and brought on subs which made a difference. I've noticed offsides are very borderline as well. . .I think the changes have improved the game.

Like to hear opinions on the goalies since the update. . .. my own keepers are pulling off great saves but the A.i keepers are letting in a lot of shots which they would normally save . . . .hope it doesn't lead to 5-3 and 6-4 matches.

Yes and no on the easy.
Got my ass kicked by Arsenal, and killed Crotone last game,it's hard to tell
You have more time building up from your own half, and I think that's the difference
On 20 min and I don't seeing strange score lines I had 5-0 last night, but Crotone is 69-64-62 attack-mf-Df,so very weak
No need to worry

Olimpo dream, season 2

Settings: superstar, full manual, 20 minutes.

Report on matches: Racing Club - Olimpo and Olimpo - Independiente

Highlight reels (stats at end)

Back to superstar again. I am changing my opinion faster than a career policitian.

Didn't record all CPU goals in reels above. One was my gross defensive mistake. The other - I don't remember.

I just can't shake superstar off. Not that top player would be too easy - certainly not - but there is something highly energetic in matches against superstar (speed 0). I don't know if the difficulty level affects my own players as well, but the matches just feel extremely spicy.

I also know that unless I get a bit creative, I will lose. Which means most of the time. My mindset is better. I can't just grind through a match, it is hopeless.

This return to superstar means that I won't be posting any reports in the near future, not until I start putting up a decent fight against them. The reports would be too boring. I will be playing a lot. In each match I will also set a theme or two to learn new things. Like in the match against Independiente I had decided to pull off at least two feints.

I also won't allow my team to get "too good." I will make sure that the OVR of the team will not be the best in the league.

I will be reading your brilliant stories with great interest. If you don't hear from me by August, then I just... didn't... make... it. :)

So keep those excellent reports coming!

Great vids . . you were robbed of a draw in the first match. . .. you won't allow your team to get too good? .. ok. .. .I'm on the fence about the game at the moment . . Top player feels easier than Professional was before the update. . by easier I mean having a lot of room. .. .. and shooting is a bit too successful. . . I had a match earlier and got beaten 2-0 but it still felt 'easy'. . . . .if that makes any sense. . .it's a bit like whoever takes advantage of the many opportunities the most wins. .. don't get me wrong it's more enjoyable than pre-update . . the space and build up feels like a real match. .. probably Superstar is the answer.

you won't allow your team to get too good? .. ok. ..
The program gives me too much money and youngsters whose OVR is too high. My team is stronger and much more balanced than in the 1st season, and I think I still have around 5 mil of wages in reserve.

Play on superstar mate.. the game feels more like last year. I couldn't enjoy the game before the patch, everything seems OP even on professional.

I finished my ML season today. In the final two matches I was at 2nd place, Bournemouth was 1st, 4 points ahead. My next opponent was Bournemouth... Really good team, playing well, 2nd best offense, after my QPR, best defence also. I played quite well, pressing high, and despite thinking it would be too hard to win against the leaders and get closer to a possible championship win (scripting here maybe?), I totally destroyed them. It didn´t felt that easy but my players were so good! Passing was feeling great on their last third, I was pulling all types of moves and, believe it or not, at 18 mins I was winning 3-0.
From there, things looked a bit tighter but Bounemouth was too desperate to make things work. I dominated the match and it ended 5-1. Lobato was huge, Niellendner also great, he can be trusted to run into the middle, shoot long rangers and specially send those long through balls.

QPR 5-1 Bournemouth

Then I had Albion away, and things were quite diferent. Tight game from the beginning, lots of midfield battles and very few chances. I scored the only goal in the second half, but Bournemouth also won their match, so no title for me. Still, promotion was more than enough.

Had a couple offers, from Empoli, Fulham and Burnley but decided to go with QPR one more season. TS is close to 90 now, so it´s a good chance to start the Premier League with a team in form and with high morale.

Some players are leaving, great guys who helped me alot on this journey, but the age is kicking, and the offers were irrefusable at this point. Chery (AM), Polter (2nd on top goal scorer´s list), Bakgoko (RM), Onuoha (CB, this guy played the whole season as a RB, and boy he was good). These guys could still play for me, but I could actually sign youngsters with similar/better stats, and so I did. They are mostly regens, but I don´t care. It´s lame sometimes, but it´s also fun to be able to use great players I used to know back in the days. Sooo, I brough in Beto (GK), Arbeloa (RB), Maxwell (LB), D'Alessandro (AM/LM/RM), and Negredo (CF), Wernbloom (CM) and Van der Vaart (AM). These are all 16/17 years old kids, so it should be fun to see them grow.

It was quite a revolution, but the TS didn´t get that low, so we should have a great start. First match wil be against Everton.

Oohh, I also accepted coaching Portugal´s national side... I wasn´t thinking in doing it this soon, but it´s my country, and I get to play with Ronaldo before he leaves soccer for good.

Took Elja's advice and went up to Superstar and won the first match 2-1 but lost the second match narrowly 2-1. . . the first difference that I noticed is the pace. . .seems more frantic and you have to think quickly .. . . there's not as much space but it's still very enjoyable. . . .only criticism is. . .. it can feel end to end a lot of the time during the match . . . it's much more fun on Top Player but goals can come easy on TP a lot. . .haven't made up my mind which to use yet. The one thing I think is an improvement in Master League is ending rock bottom in the first couple of seasons might be gone.

Here's my advice luv!
Stay on TP.
I'm pretty shure they've toned down the way CPU press you,how many times they come out on top in battles.
That adds up to this, and being 5 games in,I've seen both good teams and bad teams.

1 you'll have a better chance of beating crappy teams,I feel that too, especially playing with a very good side like I'm doing, fucking league champion!

2 facing good teams,I've played both Juve and Arsenal so far, though the frantic pressing and the percentage of them winning battles is the same as above, they still have class and skill.
Just got beaten by Juventus at home, close game, but they beat me,never felt cheated.

So stay on TP,in the long run, facing both shit sides and good sides,it will get a realistic percentage of wins.
To me that's crucial, fun and realism.
It's not realistic for me to lose at San Siro against Crotone,a 65 ovr team with 3-0, but getting beaten by Juve 2-1 is.
/R Stongo capo di tutti capo

5 Leauge game vs Juve at home.
They were to strong for me,and I don't mind taking a script free loss, lost it 2-1
Higuain is very hard to controll in the box, they played very smart, pressed me early on,didn't let me build up much, and went very direct when they won the ball.
Once they scored 1-0, they backed off,and just fucused on playing tough defence in their final third.
Great game.
Loving it
4/5 day games so far

You've made up my mind for me. . . .. . . It's Top Player. . ..it's too hectic and fast on Superstar.

Haven't tried SS myself, and beating crotone 5-0 made me thinking about it,but then again Arsenal did me 2-0, and Juve 2-1.
Think I'm thats the best level to play at,plus,it plays really well
Started over again?

Yeh I simmed the first season thought it was gonna be the usual story . . .picked up some decent players in free agents. . have a good solid squad. .. you're right Rock . .I should be beating those weaker sides and get beaten by stronger sides . . instead of everybody beating me. . cheers.
