The Master League adventures thread

Bloody hell, why do you manual guys keep making it sound so appealing! I'll just have to try and commit to it regardless of frustration. My pass percentages were decent for the most part, just find it really hard to create and be incisive when it comes to moving through midfield and into the final third.

That definitely takes a bit of time, and tactical tweaking. Again, bumping down the difficulty helps boost your confidence in being a bit more daring. I found River Plate were great for this in the demo, ideally vs someone who doesn't have the numbers in the middle so that D'Alessandro is free and Domingo can spread the play as a registered. Also someone with 4 at the back so your two strikers are up against two CBs. I'd have some great games against Boca, really end to end as Attacking FBs would give me loads of passing options but leave me 3 on 3 at the back.

Hopefully with a bit more practice and belief, you'll start to pick out some real eye of the needle passes and before you know it you won't miss assisted passing at all. If you don't feel encouraged after a few days then maybe it's not for you, but at least you gave it a fair crack, and you'll be better at L2 passing.

I'll probably play as Barcelona vs some LaLiga or LaLiga 2 sides to really get the confidence going. I can see the value in manual passing so I suppose a few days of having a laboured Louis Van Gaal style possession game is acceptable so long as I can turn it into a more exciting Guardiola-esque one.

Here's to learning!

The only thing I don't like with team spirit is the fact that you're forced to play the way the game wants you to. . .it encourages you to stick to the default settings . . for example if I change to my own personal settings I get punished by dropping team spirit to 32. .thought the whole point was to play it with your own style. . . how can you improve and win if you can't play your own way. .. . .it will only increase through winning . . .haven't a hope at the moment.

I can't stick to their system so I'll be in the second tier for a long time.

I finally started ML yesterday, I love it. I like the fact it is a "bit shit" with the presentation, news articles, cut scenes. It has its charm. The deadline day 3 hour long negotiations are annoying though.

Starting as Inter in Serie B, doing well. Outscoring alot of teams, but my last game got convincingly beat as the team were far too physical, and strong. Couldn't get anything going, or even make a chance. Everything is different.

I did love the last few FIFA's but so happy that the brilliance of PES is back. Even Serie B games seem like an event, unlike say in FIFA's career mode I loved over last few years where you'd steamroller teams and they were all similar. In FIFA you can almost say to yourself at the start of the move, "I want to score in a certain way". Here everything is different, things happen you don't expect. Goals come randomly and are all different.

When I was a pes addict at Uni 12/13 years ago, you'd be so excited buying for example a 74 rated playmaker from South America you've never heard of, who would have a wand of a left foot, and be good at free-kicks and would be your catalyst. This morning I bought some random Norwegian teenager from Blackburn called Jorgensen i think, I've not heard of him, who scored in each of his first 4 games playing right wing in a 4-3-3. On his debut he attacked the near post, and backheeled it past the wrong footed keeper with his left ankle. At that point you know he'll be special, and you get "that feeling"

Also got some random 16 year old Brazilian left back from the youth team who has grown loads in stats and im only in October in 1st season. He's huge, quick and can dribble. Brilliant.

Long may this continue. If penalty animations for keepers and how penalties are hit looked like 2016 not 1996, and I could elevate the camera on replays it would be perfect.

I suppose it's a question a lot of real managers have to ask themselves - do you you go in a re-coach the players in a completely new style? Or implement it gradually over a period of time finding players that are more suited to your style. It's a very interesting trade off. I'll go style over spirit anytime. The spirit will come eventually but the style will take even longer.

Hoping I can start today... everyday ive delayed it because teams are trickling in, but all ive left in Other Europeans is 2 teams that are fake! Unfortunately I have to socialise tonight, but im sure whilst someone is talking real world crap at me... my thoughts will be with PES :D

Cannot wait now!

I feel like playing at Manual it's like... too much stressing. I mean, I have to focus on my team so we do not concede and try to be creative. If we add manual passing (even manual shooting)... I don't know if it would suit me. I'm at advanced shooting and going like 19 shots (5) and scoring 2, even 1. So maybe manual it's even worse for me in this case.

I think I'll stick to PA1 and feel like a noob when reading you guys. But I enjoy reading you all, so no problem. :D

EDIT: I'm now considering going down to Professional in ML and try Manual Passing at least. What's my problem.

Don't get me wrong Kenpachi I love the game and ML but a drop of 20 team spirit points because your formation changed slightly is huge . .. . or if you make one change like switch to Counter attack from possession you can go down 6 points.. . I went from 55 TS to 28 by changing formation . .. . .Still waiting for a win after 6 League games .

Proffesional and manual is a real challenge, but oh so fun
Good luck

Played two more games last night.
Napoli away, fuck me they're good, this game was a real midfield battle, hardly created anything, and neither did they.
We both had a few corners late first half, and what love is the variety on corners from the CPU,they went far post,my defender got beat and Milik headed in 1-0.
Got back mid second with a corner on my own to make 1-1, then I started to press and had the ball pretty much the last 10 min,had a headed cross that went crossbar and out.
Fab game 1-1

Liverpool second leg, needed a win,and needed to score at least two goals.
Well they were hard to break down, but scored late second and a won it 1-0
But I'm out of the EL,and need to start winning games to reach it next year, currently in 8th place, one point behind Torino who has the last EL spot

That's what I'm going to do, well I'll be playing exhibition mode instead of ML to try and get used to the passing and shooting. We can go through the growing pains together haha!

I agree it's harsh for a formation change because to me formations are just numbers - they rarely mean anything substantial. I could understand the reverse, if you try to to take a counter attacking team and try to make them play a possession game sure knock 15 points off. But not for a formation change.

You're even harder done by considering you're using the default players as well. It's growing pains I'm afraid, hopefully you can acquire some good assets and get that time spirit moving in the right direction.

I was given 3 million to spend so have to buy cheap but promising players . .I'm in it for the long haul.

You guys got any tips for shooting on manual? Doing a good job of breaking down LaLiga 2 defences and dominating the ball but I can't convert my chances.

Gutted . .. .I was cruising 2-0 and controlling the game against Bennevento and was heading for my first win but the Ai had other ideas. . .they scored late in the game and got their draw in injury time .. next game beaten again.

It's harder this year I'm having the same problem . .break them down and hit it straight at the keeper or wide.

Real Betis vs Atlético de Madrid. 0-0. 50 % possession, 75 % pass accuracy, 6 shots, all gone wide. Professional, -1 speed, 15 mins.

I don't know what to think about this.

Managed to slot 3 past Tenerife but missed a couple of howlers. Had a total of 41 shots across the 3 games I've played so breaking them down isn't the problem. I'll get accustomed to the shooting I guess.

Managed 65% possession and 90% pass accuracy in that game as well. Pretty proud of that haha!

Don't give up, I'm playing on the same settings as you. I can feel myself getting better and it's only been 3 games. Just be more selective with your passing and use non-sprinting dribbles to advance the ball to the next line of play if it's available.

I play pa1 but manual shooting. The last 3 years of FIFA I've had manual shooting and now couldn't go back, plus I'm good at it no matter the angle of distance.

It does take time though

Does the direction your player is facing affect the aim of shot? I've noticed that unless I'm facing the goal either dead on or at angle my shots are going all over the place. Need to take that extra touch to get my shot off. Just fired another 3 past Mirandés this time. 10 shots, 4 on target. 76% possession and 88% pass accuracy.

Think I'll have to step to LaLiga teams instead of LaLiga 2 teams next time.

"Partido a partido", 'Cholo' Simeone.

EDIT: Best camera setting for all manual? Playing on PC.

I'd say having your back to goal is a no no. It used to be a slight angle on the thumbstick . . .doesn't seem to work now. It's a sickener when you work hard and get a rare chance and you perform a backpass to the keeper.

Ive got an hour to get started... PAOK and Krasnodar finalise my list. Plenty teams out there now to mix and match, its not perfect but theres a fair mix. Off to Italy I think...

Oh no, I don't mean literally not facing the goal. I mean sort of facing along the line of the edge of the area. In real life players would hit the shot on the half turn/swivel but that doesn't seem to work for me.

guyz what are the best formation/tactics/instruction to play like pep's mancity/barca/bayern type dominating football right now i made two formation for barca and manc.
1st formation- kick off 4-3-3/in poss 3-1-3-3[two attacking midfield with convert RB to RWF]/out poss 4-3-3 tactics possession short pass/support 7/flexible, defensive line 8/aggressive, tikitaka-wing rotation/gegenpress-counter target for barcelona
2nd formation pep style- kick off 4-3-3/in poss 4-1-2-3[2attacking midfield]/out 4-3-3 tactics possession short pass/support 7/flexible, defensive line 7/aggressive, tikitaka-hug the touchline/gegenpress-counter target for manc.
i am using manc formation in my ML with derby country..
is there any other formation i am missing for domination football?
