The Master League adventures thread

Actually, lol, i might have to scrap that. I've decided to go with the PS2 version, finally, so that kinda ruins my league structure. I'm going to go with one of the licensed leagues and leave the rest for a better pool in Europe. I'm thinking Ligue 1, perhaps Strasbourg. ho hum.
 
This is very realistic...if i remember there was a player in Sapin who actually didn't play a single match for his new club and then went to another one (Milito from Zaragozza to Valencia and then Barcelona, but i'm far from sure).
 
How about the former Croatian player Robert Jarni.

He signed for Coventry City from Real Betis, then almost immediately moved to Real Madrid. :lol:

I can't think of any instances in the managerial side of things. :p

Have you got the PES2008 guide book?

What is it like? Is it similar the PES6 guide book? Is it worth buying if i've got the PES5 and PES6 guide book?
 
I don't know my friend...i haven't got theone for PES5 and 6...i gather that this is a book that you only buy once...unless the game has had a major overhaul...which it hasn't.
I think the book is a good thing for bad players like me, but i think it's rather useless for decent players.
 
Did anyone see Belletti's goal for Chelsea against Wigan at the weekend? I thought it was very PES-like.
A defender dribbling all the way from within his own half and then letting fly with a bullet of a shot, past the keeper from outside the area.

I'm about to start my ML. I've been tweaking a few things here and there. It used to be that you weren't able to assign the Dutch teams stadiums in-game. Now you can't do the French ones too. Of course, you can in the editor though, which is what i did.

Professor Nutmeg's tenure at RC Strasbourg began with a dogged draw, at title favourites Olympique Lyonnais. The Alsace club twice came back from behind at the Stade de Gerland, on the opening day of the Ligue 1 season.

It took a mere eight minutes for the home side to register the first goal. Manuel Dos Santos was got caught in possession by Govou, just outside the box and the forward calmly placed a shot past Stephane Cassard. The early setback saw an animated Professor Nutmeg barking orders at his charges and ten minutes later, Dos Santos fed Pascal Johansen from the left side. The midfielder rose in Lyon's box, inbetween Cris and Belhadj, to head past Coupet, the ball deflecting in off the underside of the crossbar. Perhaps Lyon weren't going to have it easy.

The home side then began to create more chances. A trademark Juninho freekick was expertly saved by Cassard to deny the Brazilan a spectacular goal from about 30 yards out. Fred later missed the chance to put his side 2-1 up, when his header hit the crossbar. However, minutes later, another opportunity arose and the striker didn't miss, placing his header out of the keeper's reach and rippling the net. 2-1 to Lyon.
Cue a Strasbourg change. James Fanchone's fresh legs came on for Yacine Abdessadki. Racing looked to have lost all three points, before an injury time goal rescued the point. Emil Gargorov threaded an enticing ball to Alvaro in the box. The until now, quiet Brazilian, fired a shot across the goal, forcing the save from Coupet, who parried straight to the Fanchone. The substitute pounced on the loose ball and smashed it into the back of the net from 4 yards. 2-2 at the final whistle.

their first goal was too. that's why i love WE/PES :)
 
I think it was all just a dream db :)

As for the first point, it was well earned. When i saw the fixtures and Lyon on Day 1, i thought, here we go. Especially as i never won my opening fixtures in PES6. It was nice to have one of those 'exciting' games straight off.

It doesn't come any easier. The next 3 fixtures are against Bordeaux, PSG and Monaco. Bottom of the table at xmas?

In my last PES6 ML (the one with AZ67) i played quite a few matches against Porto. Wason Renteria was their outstanding player and by far the best player in the league (top scorer, top assister or very nearly and certainly best player of the division). At the time i'd never heard of him...when i was in France on holiday, i noticed that he plays for Strasbourg now...is he any good in the game???
 
Professor Nutmeg there's a player in the Strasbourg squad by the name of Manloghni, who has blond hair. In real life it's gone back to black. I saw him on Eurogoals.

Messing with the big dogs

Stringer Bell has been named the new AZ Alkmaar coach this morning. The slightly reserved coach comes in for Louis van Gaal, after a one and half season spell with RC Lens.

Some punters are unconvinced by the appointment of Mr. Bell as AZ manager, with some saying that his just an underdog manager, who isn’t capable of managing a big club. Dutch coach GFK said "I don’t think Stringer can handle managing a club like AZ, he should stick with clubs like De Graafschap. His good at managing small clubs, but AZ we’ll be too much for the young guy".

Mr. Bell had an unsuccessful spell at RC Lens failing to qualify for the Champions League and fining seventh place, in his first season with the Ligue 1 side. The following season saw RC Lens was languishing 14th, during the mid-season break, which saw him sequentially sacked from the club.

Mr. Bell’s job is simple, finish top three every year, challenge for the title and qualify for the Champions League. Stringer Bell’s job with AZ will be his toughest yet for the young manager.

With the season only one game old, it's believed RC Strasbourg manager, Professor Nutmeg is keen to add former Marseille playmaker, Djamel Belmadi to his squad. A winter break deal looks possible, with the Algerian, currently on Valenciennes' books, likely to be handed a short term contract.

When fit, there is no doubting Belmadi's ability and quality on the ball, whether playing on the left or right of midfield. At his best, he can unpick defences with his passing and keeps the ball well. His ability and experience in the league, could prove a vital addition to Racing's campaign.

Looking at the team and player rating business in ML negotiations, it seems there are some players you just won't be able to sign, until your status rises, or theirs decreases, i guess.
It looks as if i should be able to make a clean swoop for this chap though.

Yep PS2. Menus are a bit cluttered for my liking. You get the feeling they did it, just to make it look like they'd done something.

Gameplay, well i prefer it to my next-gen 360 play. To me it feels a tad slower. It's very PES6 too.
 
Whoa lots of familiar clubs and names this afternoon.
First of all Belmadi...my favourite player of one of my favourite clubs in PES6. He is awesome Prof (i've played a league with Valenciennes in PES6 PSP...).
And of course AZ67 was my last ML in PES6. They have a couple of very good players. IRL they have a future star IMHO, my compatriot Moussa Dembélé will certainly become a top striker who will end playing for a bigger club than AZ67. And then there are a couple of other Belgian players: Maarten Martens (irl injured for the rest of the season) and Sebastien Poccognoli (wing back with a very good free kick)...of course they have other very good playes (Mendes de Souza, Cziommer, Graziano Pelle, Vormer,...). I'm looking forward to your stories Stringer...
