The Master League adventures thread

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

I haven't yet tried FIFA and won't prolly play it this year. PC version is the same old crap, I just don't have XBox 360 or PS3 and have no desire to buy any as I've spent quite a handful of money on upgrading my PC a couple of months ago.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

I tried the FIFA 08 Xbox 360 demo the other day, I thought it was awful. I haven't played a FIFA game since about 2000 and it reminded me why.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Demos are rarely like playing the real thing though.

You can set your button config to PES mode, which is what i have done and to be fair i scored a tremendous goal last night in my Manager Mode with FC Sion, in what was quite a fun session.

My Colombian midfielder Alvaro Dominguez, scored a dipping scorcher from about 35 yards out. The keeper was just enough off his line for him to have trouble tracking back for it. Think Matty Taylor's goals from the last season. That sort of effort.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Nice.

I enjoy reading Professor Nutmeg and gerd post in the FIFA08 Manager Mode thread. I like to see more people posting about playing in foreign leagues though. If i had the game i hit the second division of the Eredivisie straight away! So yeah, you can talk about it here.

I download the FIFA08 demo on the PS3. I thought it was alright, but from what a lot of people say, the players don't have any real individuality, which would be a killer for me in the Manager Mode. Plus i'll probably be rinsing out PES2008 as soon as it comes out and won't bother playing FIFA08 anymore.

PES3 = FIFA08

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

I'm worried by this lack of individuality. It's what has made the game and ML so appealing to me since it began. Past PES games are full of players i remember fondly as favourites. It would be a big shame if it was lost.
I'll have to look into this when i get the final game.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

hi fellas,

jeff and I have been working on updating the pro evo site which should be ready (fingers X) by the release of pes2008.

the new ml structure as has been mentioned is a double edged sword. I dont know now if i should play a normal dutch league with VVV and use someone like AIK in a mixed ML.

decsions decsions.... :)

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Hey Db, nice to see you back in here

ML: It is indeed. What would be simpler, would be if they could let you choose how many teams you want in each division. I had a good set up in mind, but it got ruined by the new 20/20 divs.

I would happily have a 10 club div 1 and 10 club div 2, if it kept things neater. eg all Spanish (split), or all regional teams.

Well done on the website :salute:

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Hmm, looks a bit weak.
Basically, it appears you start off as 'unpopular' (D rating! - don't they know who i am?!) and so do a few players (poor them, what did they do in the close season). You progress when the guy in the baseball jacket holds up a card higher than your previous one (a touch of "Play your cards right" there). Oh and there's a talking dog...I think he tells you when you've made the rankings. Or perhaps he just occasionally pees on the menu to the left.

Nice work on the website so far denirobob.

Are you guys working on a option file for PES2008?

About the ML structure...well you can always create the second divisions clubs for the Eredivsie and add 4 of the teams already in PES2008 and you can have yourself a close to real league setup.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

I've read your post about that Mathew Taylor-esque goal Prof...
Something that i noticed is that you can score quite a lot goals from long distance or by followong up long distance shots which the GK's could not hold...
I'm still first in French division two with Le Havre.
18 points behind Le Havre Reims are second and then come Nantes, Sedan and Troyes...I have a bonus of 24 points on the fourth placed team...so i'm already as good as certain about promotion. What a shame i'm eliminated in the League cup and the National Cup.

Trainer fame (or whatever): 4/10
Job security: 100/100
Popularity among the fans: 100/100 (finally, it took me quite a while)
Team chemistry: 74/100

Transfers in: Fabien Camus from Charleroi and a Congolese player who was spotted by one of my scouts: Samuels (i think)...

Now about PES ML and the above mentioned screen shots. There are a couple of screen shots which make me believe that Argentinian and Brazilian leagues will be included in the final game...the screen shots are in the second page of stills...that would be awesome, but lets not hope too much...

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Yes i was referring to those badges prof, and yes that could it be...nice option by the way...i would prefer the Brazilian and Argintinian clubs, but i wouldn't be too disappointed if it turns out that you are right...

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Pretty sure it is. You'll notice the flags are the same as the leagues that are in the game (Spanish flag/La Liga etc). There are so many Brazilians and Argentinians in the game (within existing squads) that you can feasibly make a club out of them very easily too, hence why those 2 flags are included.

LOL!

cheers mate. as u can see ive tinkered a bit with the look. we will prob give it a bit of promotion nearer the 25th.

thats not a bad idea although both leagues only have 18 teams in i think so id have to find 4 div 3s sides too and it would be quite a lot of effort to get info on Stormvogels Telstar for example.

A Segunda division would be nice perhaps stepping into Chris Colemans size 9's at Sociedad.... hmmm

Perhaps its something Jeff and I or anyone else who wanted to contribute could consider ? pick a league (anymore than 1 would be too ambitious) and work on the data for the second division to create an op file for all the ML players on here.

Perhaps it could be put to a vote... ??

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

You see, this is where FIFA08's database could come in handy - for player stats. As i have the game, it's certainly a place i'd look to create clubs/players for PES.

As i've mentioned before though, i tend to stay away from the majority of other people's option files as they become so biased (stat-wise) and it upsets the balance of the whole game. That or little effort goes into the appearances (cue scary looking baldy clones) :mryellow:
I'm sure any effort you and JeffT do would be great though Db.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

thats a good idea proff. How do the fifa stats differ from PES ? i presume they still have the basics like accelaration, balance etc..

I havent spoken to Jeff about it yet, so perhaps its just a pipe dream but in theory there is no reason why the website couldnt contain info on a second division.

Here are the scores on the doors (using the licensed leagues)..

Holland 1st Div 18 : 2nd Div 20
France 1st Div 20 : 2nd Div 20
Italy 1st Div 20 : 2nd Div 22
Spain 1st Div 20 : 2nd Div 22

Which would suggest creating a Ligue 2 would be the most realistic option....

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Yeah the stats are quite similar. There are even key skills, or what have you, ie what PES assigns a star for. eg PK, playmaker etc... I don't think it tells you growth potential though.

I've have an idea for a Norway(14)/Denmark(12)/Sweden(14) Superleague or something of the sort.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Yeah i'd find a fitting name of sorts for it :mryellow: I initially wanted to do some Scandanavian job, which would have worked with the old 16 and 8 teams set up.
Of course, you can only make 20 teams from League C. I don't fancy messing with the proper teams. Maybe the Swiss(10) and Austrian(10) leagues?

As i said before, if ONLY you could set up your own league parameters!!! 2 mini divs of 10 clubs each (play 4 times) would be great.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

The new ML structure is a double-edged sword like you said DB and it's so frustrating that after all these years of playing a CRAP ML, they still have not given us what we want.

They just make a few little improvements and think we'll be happy.

Good to see you and Jeff working on the website. I'll put it in my 'signature' if you want when it's ready.

@SB, yeah but creating all those extra Dutch/French or whatever teams in 2nd division is quite a LOT of pain and gonna be a lot of work!!! :|
Plus, it's not like it'll be 'accurate'. It'll be rough estimates at best...

@Gerd, Le Havre have quite a good youth setup/academy in real life. You probably know that though.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

I kind of guessed that PLF, bcause plenty of very good French players have played for Le Havre...one of the most ecent examples which springs to my mind is that grear MF who played for L'OL, Milan, PSG and now Livorno(?). Of course i forgot his name, but he's one of my favourite players...

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Viskash Dhorasoo;) great talent but not so great attitude

Adding any teams to the next-gen versions of the game is going to be quite troublesome I think, when you consider it seems we can't edit the emblems/badges of the teams coupled with the fact Compulsion(the guy who makes the pesfan editor) stated a couple of days ago it will be "impossible" for him to make an editor which can edit option files from the next gen versions of the game:(

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Damn, that doesn't sound good for next-gen PES gaming.

I've been thinking about getting a PS3 or X360 recently but looks like I'll be sticking with ps2 for the near future.. :/

Viskash Dhorasoo;) great talent but not so great

Vikash but I'm sure Jeff knew that. It's just a little typo.

And yeh what a talent he was!! Too bad, he didn't 'censor' himself and what's on his mind (his words) enough at times.

Actually, I didn't know Vikash came through Le Havre as well. But you're right, he did. I just checked. You just taught me something, Gerd. ;)

Others that come to mind for me are Carlos Kameni and what now looks like a younger version of him in Steve Mandanda (Currently OM #1 with Cedric Carasso injured), Didier Digard who looks like a talented CM with PSG who is a new signing for the Parisians, Pascal Chimbonda if I recall correctly but then he moved to Bastia and eventually EPL where he became a much bigger success than he ever was in France.

And of course there was the very promising at an early age, French youth International superstar cousins, Anthony Le Tallec and Florent Sinama-Pongolle whom Gerard Houllier signed for Liverpool very early on.

Of course neither, now look like they'll be great but both are talented and who knows, they may be just need to develop that potential in the 'latter' years of their career.

I'm sure there's some other good ones I'm forgetting right now but that's what I just remembered quickly off the top of my head...

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Chimbonda and Digard, i knew..
Didn't Le Tallec play a good season with Sochaux last year...

Anyway, i won League 2 with Le Havre. With 3 matches to play i was champion, then i simulated then last 3 and lost them all...

Now i'm in League 1 together with Reims and Guegnon (not so realistic those two teams...). I hope the teams in League 1 will be considrably stronger, because honestly i don't see a lot of difference between the various teams i played against (that to me seems the biggest difference with PES..FIFA has fantastic modes...but the more i play it, the more i like the gameplay of PES...what a shame there isn't a game with PEs gameplay and FIFA manager mode).

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

I'm considering also getting the PS2 version of PES2008 (i'll trade in some games to cover it). It may be i prefer it to the 360 version. Plus i imagine i'll be able to edit the OF of the PS2 version.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

For me there is no way back, i've just given my PS2 to my best friend's 10year old son.
Somewhere i hope that PES2008 will be "better" on the PS3 (slower pace).

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Reims is a sleeping giant like St. Etienne I hear, Gerd.

Of course "Les Verts" are in much better situation than them currently but still nowhere near their 'prime' days back in the day when you were young and I wasn't even born! :p
