MALLORCA SURGE BACK

A league home win against Sociedad sparks a Balearic comeback

Having gone 13 consecutive league games without a win to their name, Real Mallorca are now showing signs of turning their season around. The Islanders poor form had see them drop to 14th place in the league, one spot above the relegation zone.

However, from out of nowhere 'El Profesor' has seen his charges win four games on the trot, including their latest, a thrilling 3-2 victory at El Madrigal, in which defender Fernando Varela netted the winner at the death, to sink the yellow submarines.

The winning run began at home to Real Sociedad, with a comfortable but ovedue 2-0 win. Two tight 1-0 wins over Deportivo La Coruna and Celta Vigo followed. Then came what many thought would end this successful streak, an away tie to 5th placed Villarreal. What followed was the game of the week, as Mallorca twice stubbornly came back from behind. Mallorca's second equaliser from Angelos Basinas on 74' minutes silenced the home crowd. An exquisite lob shot from the far left, outside the penalty area, traversed the box, curled over and past the outstretched Viera, as the ball finally nestled in the far right of the net. Deep into injury time, full back Fernando Varela cut in from the right side and shot from just outside the area. The ball, heading for the far left of the goal at pace, took a deflection off Pascal Cygan whose attempts to block the shot, only ended up wrong-footing Viera. The Uruguayan keeper could only watch in despair as the ball flew past him into the net. The small contingent of travelling islanders erupted as their team claimed all three points.

Mallorca have now moved up to 9th in the league table and the mathematical possibility of finishing 6th and thus claimimg a European spot, is still very much a reality. The Islanders will hope to keep up their magical run when they face 12th place Espanyol next.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Hello mate,

I know, i couldn't believe it. Game after game, i was losing or drawing. It was insane! So this run has been very welcome. I missed out on Europe last season due to poor form too. Having gone out of the cup early this season, i'm hoping to qualify by grabbing 6th place.
I can't remember my run in exactly, i can post it later, but i think it will still include some of the big boys.

Forest 2008 Season Review

While Manchester United won the Premiership by 12 points the real story of the season was no doubt up in Nottingham.

Nottingham Forests amazing first season back in the big time ended with the side earning a place in the UEFA Champions League qualifying group stage along with Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City. Not only that but Forest won only their third ever F.A Cup capping of an incredible season. While fellow promotion side Watford struggled and were ultimately relegated, Forest went from strength to strength finishing in fifth place. To cap it all off, manager Nigel Clough was named Premiership manager of the season for 2008.

“I never in my wildest dreams would have thought we would win the F.A Cup, finish fifth and qualify for Europe” the manager said. “This season has no doubt been a squad effort, there a great bunch of lads and they fully deserve this. This club has had some bad times in recent years and I hope the fans really appreciate this because they deserve it more than anybody. But the real test will start next season. We’ve seen before newly promoted sides have a fantastic first season and then even get relegated the next. We will not take our top flight status for granted and I hope we will solidify that in 2009”.

With the dust only just settled from this season, the fans are optimistically anticipating next season. There’s no way they can top this, can they???

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Jesus PES King this is creepy, you just transferred three players i considered buying in the mid-season interval: Zoro, Mc Geady and Baines...i guess i will search other ones.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Wow  that is creepy. You no what they say though Stan, great minds think alike  Seriously mate, if you want to buy those players go for it, don't mind me. There is no rule that says you can't buy the same players as i have or anyone else for that matter. :8):

p.s Jason Roberts is awesome

West Ham United - Reading 3-1
37' Sidwell
49' Benayoun
72': Harewood (Benayoun)
92': Harewood (Benayoun)

A bit of an anti-climax this one. Well deserved win for West Ham.

Chelsea - Reading 2-2
10' Shevshenko (Joe Cole)
11' Kitson (Hunt)
34' Kitson (Hunt)
66' Drogba (Shevshenko)

Drogba's equaliser was a fantastic goal...
Reading have won against Man Utd, Arsenal and drew Chelsea at Stamford Bridge...all they need is a litle bit more consistency against teams like Newcastel and West Ham...

PS: PES King i make it a rule myself not to buy players that are in the team of other people in this thread while when we are playing a ML at the same period...it's a peculiar rule, but i stick to it stubornly...don't worry.

PPS: anybody here is going to buy a PS3??? I will.

END OF SEASON 07/08

diego20060920_g.jpg

Diego Tristan's contract expired

The Islanders finish 8th as the ONO
Estadi welcomes more Latin American flair

Real Mallorca again finished a season empty handed. The Islanders fought hard, late on in the season, to achieve a European place but ties against the top three hampered their push. Eighth spot is however an improvement on last season's tenth. The board will no doubt be looking for an improvement next season, particularly in the Copa del Rey, which might prove the only way in to Europe for the Islanders.

Both Diego Tristan and midfielder Daniel Kome have left the club in the off-season. The ex-Spanish International's contract expired at the ONO Estadi, while the Cameroon midfielder's contract was terminated by mutual consent. Kome has since joined Real Valladolid.

Their places have been filled with the arrival of Brazilian midfielder Ederson form French Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice and Colombian striker Hugo Rodallega who joins from Mexican side Club de Fútbol Monterrey.

Forest Qualify For Champions League Group Stage

Nottingham Forest have qualified for the champions League proper, but only just because of a better goal difference than Liverpool, who have to settle for a place in the UEFA Cup. The biggest shock however was French giants Lyon finishing bottom with only 1 point to their name.

Results

Liverpool-away 1-1

Lyon-home 2-1

Roma-home 1-1

Liverpool-home 1-0

Lyon-away 1-1

Roma-away 0-0

Final table

Roma 11
Forest 10
Liverpool 10
Lyon 1

In the next group stage Forest have been drawn with German giants Bayern Munich, fellow English side Chelsea and Roma again (Stupid F'N Konami)

SteveandJav, great vid, i thought i was bad :lmao:

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

after a short break for nuptial necessities, the Iberian League is finally back....

espanyol.jpg

CATALAN CONSOLIDATION

tams2.jpg

Espanyol reached the halfway stage of the season looking in a far safer position than this time last year. 16 Points from 15 games including 4 wins, have given the Parakeets a healthy 3 point lead over nearest rivals Mallorca and a full 6 points gap from any relegation anxiety.

Despite a 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the 1st leg of the King's Cup quarter finals, the likelihood of going further in the competition isn't beyond the bounds of possibility. Although the fans would no doubt welcome the chance of a cup run and a sniff of some silverware, President Balague will be more keen to avoid any repeat of traumatic end to last season.

Whilst a push towards the UEFA cup places still looks beyond the current squad, achieving safety and mid table security looks well within the grasps of Pacheco's men. With goals no longer the rare commodity of 2006/07 (just 12 and 1 win at the same stage) and less reliance on captain and talisman Raul Tamudo, the scoresheet has even been visited on 4 occasions by central midfield stalwart Pablo Zabaleta.

A good start then to the second half of 2007/08 is paramount and the outcome of the first two matches against Atletico and Deportivo could go a long way to demonstrate if Barcelona's other club are finally heading for more positive pastures.

ML Portal....

Hi,

I know i dropped the ball a bit on this, but now the main site is pretty much as up to date as possible I've come back to it.

http://www.proevosoccer.info/ - then click on the "MASTER LEAGUE PORTAL" bit at the top

So far I have completed pages for myself, nerf, stringer, gerd, proff nutmeg and don domenico. Proff & Gerd, obvioulsy I need to update your pages to reflect your most recent ML club choices.

Do you other guys (grunge, TB, Jeff) still want a page ?

I have spoken to PLF who has opened his spot up to someone else - on a first come first served basis :)

I can always add another level of flash navigation in if this proves popular however, so if a number of you new guys wanna get on board just let me know (and let me know which pic you'd like to represent you)

cheers chaps

I traded P. Ibanez for Chivu and got C. Ronaldo for 16 Million!!

also brought in Maniche's long term replacement... a you englishman named Bradley only 20. great curve and already good stats (particularly - defence 92) currently rippping full backs apart with Ronaldo. 2 games in to the 2nd half of the season 4 pts clear at the top and still in both cups..... is another treble on the cards!!!????????

GOD I LOVE PRO EVO!!!!

Holders Crash Out At First Round

crystal_palace_home_270.jpg

Former Forest player Miguel Ordaz comes back to haunt old club

F.A Cup holders Nottingham Forest were beaten 4-3 on aggregate by West Ham United thanks to 2 goals in the second leg from former player Miguel Ordaz. The spaniard also picked up the man of the match award to add more salt to Forests wounds.

With Forest drawing 2-2 at the City Ground, manager Nigel Clough rested several first teamers. Forest started the better side and took the lead in the 25th minute thanks to a well taken goal by Marlon Harewood. Then West Ham started to get going and in the 37th minute Ordaz beatifully chiped the keeper to level the tiei in what was one of the goals of the round. The spaniard struck again on the stroke of half-time to give the hammers a 4-3 aggregate lead with the score 2-1 on the night.

Forest desperatly searched for a goal but could'nt find one. The Forest manager brought on Euell and Jaric late on but it proved to little, to late.

This result is only considered a minor blip for Forest as they are currently 1st in the Premiership by 5 points and are 2 games into their Champions League campaign, morale will not be affected by this result.

With Arsenal up next at the Emirates Stadium, it will be business as usual for Nottingham Forest.

Has this ever happened to anyone here? It's bloody frustrating is'nt it. Wish i'd left him to rot in the reserves now

you are both very welcome.

I thought Gerd, you might like to write a little bit about how you maintain a succesful ML career alongside a young family! :)
