The Master League adventures thread

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Db, i agree with Stringer and Re-arranged concerning Insua.
I had him in my Palermo team in PES5. He's a great player who can play behind the strikers, as AMF, CMF,DMF and SMF...he has a good pass and is fairly good at scoring goals...
A big asset for any team..
Re-arranged: i understand the appeal PSG has but being a "big name" they will be overrated in PES and their will be no challenge...i would go for another French (i have to say that i really don't like both PSG and L'OM)...

Man i use edited database so you can be sure that PSG is well edited as well as the most of the other clubs and national teams in the optionfile aswell. I think that PSG is rather strong, but their leaders are old and they'll be dropping in stats, so i'll have to bring in some younger players. I like Saint-Etienne too, they've got almost the same quality squad, but for me PSG one seems to be harder as Les Verts have more depth and their leaders are younger.

mnj, i'd personally prefer to go with Fulham, they've got a nice stadium, nice shirt and decent squad, ut they have the same problem as PSG, their leaders are old Niemi 34, McBride 34, Bouba Diop 28, Radzinski 32. But they've got some young talents, like Volz, Rosenior, Routledge, John(if he can become more consistent).

Following on from Balague's Iberian inventory, internet rumours are circulating this evening that Sheffield United's Rob Hulse is the latest transfer target for relation threatened Espanyol.

The 6 foot plus striker is something of a late comer to the top flight, having moved around the Midlands and Yorkshire before settling in the steel city at the beginning of the season.

Whilst the interest from Spain appears to have come out of the blue, the fact that Walter Pandiani, arguably a man looking for a way out of the Montujic, spent some time at Birmingham could explain a lot. The Englishman's game comprises of many of the same qualities as El Rifle, but crucially the way he has adapted to life in the Premiership, something the Uruguayan never did has caught the interest of the President.

Although Blades boss Neil Warnock is likely to fight to keep hold of one of his prize assets, the glamour, prestige, challenge of playing abroad not to mention the climate is sure to appeal to the player.

more to follow....

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Hi all, cheers for the recommendations. I think it's between Fulham, Reading & Wigan (wait to see what happens before the end of the month). For now, it's back to trying to win Serie A...bloody Inter Milan!!!

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Nice choice there, Db, He isn't the best of the strikers, but still a decent one. However personally i'd prefer Scoubo or Zigic over him, if you want someone with La Liga experience. Moreover they are much less expensive than Pandiani and much more effective in the air not to mention far more consistent.

Another idea about possible ML team i wanna play. FC Nantes-Atlantique, seems to me very realistic one. Some good players like Fae, Cetto, Wilhelmsson(still in my squad, cos i won't be changing anything till the transfer window is closed), Mamadou Diallo, Signorino. I like this variant the most, plus Nantes has a very beautiful kit and stadium... ;)

Great idea mate. There are one or two stadiums that could well pass for their's, plus it'd be nice to try and get back some of the glory from the karembeu, loko, & pedros era.

ps - i seem to be experiencing some bandwidth issues on my own site, so for now the trials & tribulations of the canaries can be found here - http://www.breathe4u.com/espanyol_ml/

I do also think that it's the best idea, Db. I won't even need to pass any stadiums as theirs, cos i've got Stade La Beaujoire-Louis Fonteneau in my game already and it's of the highest quality(it's a thumbnail, click it to make larger):

so i'll start my ml with the Canaries soon, just need to finish some stuff first, so in the nearest future you can await some posts about my ml.

Good choice DB. He's the type of player every struggling team needs!

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

TREBLE IN THEIR SIGHTS!

FC Sicily have come through a tough run of league & cup matches unscathed and all the talk amongst the fans is of an unprecidented treble!

427491.jpeg

Christian Wilhelmsson has come into some great form

Serie A update

FC Sicily 3 - Wilhelmsson 17', Park Chu Young 83', 90'
Roma 1 - Pazzini 7', Mexes s/off 76'

It looked as if the islanders were going to drop 2 precious home points until Philippe Mexes was gien his marching orders on 76 mins. korean superstar Park Chu Young went on to take full advantage.

Juventus 1 - Del Piero 47'
FC Sicily 1 - Park Chu Young 66'

To the dismay of manager Mr Mnj, once again Sicily failed to beat one of the 'big 3', "If we can't beat any of our main rivals we're gonna end the season with bugger all!"

FC Sicily 3 - Park Chu Young 12', 58', Sobis 53'
Lazio 1 - Mundingayi 25'

This was another tough encounter after Mundingayi cancelled out Park Chu Young's opener. However a superb 5 mins spell in the second half secured the 3 points.

Udinese 1 - Iaquinta 12'
FC Sicily 4 - Sobis 26', Wilhelmsson 65', 79'
Cariciollo 90+2

The scoreline rather flattered the islanders as they didn't take control of the game until the last quarter when the flying Swede Wilhelmsson showed his magic!

All in all it's been an excellent run of games for FC Sicily showing true championship grit coming from behind in 3 of the games. However will their lack of success against their rivals prove to be their downfall come the end of the season?

UEFA CL update

2 1-0 home wins against Chelsea and Ajax have seen Sicily ease through to the quarter finals in their first ever appearence in the competition.

Coppa Italia update

Quarter Final
Roma 0 (0)
FC Sicily 2 (0) Sobis 23', 39'

Sicily eased through to the semis thanks to a Rafael Sobis brace in the away leg.

Thanks for the vote of confidence

- we're doomed....
LOL!

Sorry about the negative thinking mate. :)

I'm a bit surprised that it was Rob Hulse, i could of sworn it would be either L. Garcia or Luque...but anyways, best of luck in cathing him.

Yeah Nantes is a good team to play with. Remember Watsons Nantes ML reports?

BTW is that stadium for PS2 or PC?

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

I think Hulse is doing wonderful for Sheffield this season...he's really a discovery for me...never heard of the guy (is he English??? There used to be a Dutch player could Hulse in the 70's or the 80's, i think he played for Twente...).

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Hi Gerd,

He is. Born in Crewe and started off at Crewe Alexander before moving to West Brom, Leeds and then Sheff U.

I have one or two other irons in the fire just in case. First things first though, if i can't keep Espanyol in the Primera, i'll be up río de la mierda sin una paleta ;)

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Db, talking of El Rifle, did you see the chances he missed against Barca?

Oddly enough, i was channel surfing the other evening and i came across a Welsh channel which had European football highlights. It showed very extensive highlights of the Barcelona derby, as well as the other Liga goals, Serie A etc (very odd with Welsh commentary). It was called Sgorio.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Hi Proff, how are you diddling mate ?

yes i did, quite a game wasnt it.

I think that programme has been going for years actually, although possibly not as long as Eurogoals.

Which Serie A game(s) did they show ? Eurosport only ever show games involving Lazio, Torino & Cagliari for some bizarre reason.

db

Yea i do, Watson and Total Ligue 1 reports, althou i can't remember did Total actually post anything in here or only in PLF's thread.

This stadium is for PC i guess, cos that's where i use it. It's probably edited with 3ds max or Rhinho.

Db, what are your plans if you won't be somehow able to stay in the 1-st division and would be relegated to the lower league? Hope this won't happen, but still there's a chance, cos Villareal and Zaragoza are very tough opponents. Will you continue with the team or resign, is there a chance that team bosses will let you continue building the new team or will they more likely fire you ;) ??

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

One goal could be enough for a Champions League final.

Barcelona - Atalanta 2-1

3' Saviola
13' Oscar (assist by Nuri Sahin)
18' Messi (and a beauty it was)

MOTM Zambrotta (Don Domenico would be proud of him :8): )

A 1-0 win would secure a CL final for minnows Atalanta.
They surely could score against Brcelona, but would it be possible to keep the nil???

Hi Proff,

I'm from Wales and I'm Welsh speaking, and I can tell you that Sgorio is a brilliant programme. It's been running from the late 80's I think and has the rights for Serie A, La Liga and Bundesliga. It shows extensive highlights from a game from each country as well as all of the other goals.

I've been watching it for donkeys years and to be honest it's where I have got most of my Euro footie knowledge from. Before Sky TV etc this really was a must see for all footie fans, but with so many channles these days and the internet, it's becoming less so. Still a brilliant watch though!

It's on Monday nights at 10.00pm (sometimes 10.30 or 11.00) on S4C. Just ignore the welsh - or I can give you basic lessons if you want!!!

Hmm good question mate.

Well first things first Valverde has had his chips whatever happens. However I don't think Balague is yet ready to get rid of the power behind the throne :)

There were rumours earlier on in the season that La Volpe was on his way, since scuppered by him taking a new job. I'm sure the Spanish odds compilers will soon be chalking up potential candidates for the role, as the RCD board will be looking the length and breadth of the Iberian Peninsular and beyond for a replacement....

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Hi Db, i'm diddling just fine thanks. Didn't catch the Serie A game, only the rest of the Lega goals, then it moved on to Spain.

Go gerd! good luck in the 2nd leg.

mnj: That's the one. i was impressed by the extent of highlights. Will tune in next Monday.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Indeed Proff. May I second your congratulations to Gerd. On the cusp of a stunning achievemnet with one of the game's relative minnows.

I take my hat off to you sir!

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Euro Nightmare

UEFA CL QUARTER FINAL 1ST LEG

FC SICILY - 0
MAN UTD - 3 Rooney 78', 83', Fletcher 90+3

Rooney.jpg

Rooney celebrates his 2nd goal

FC Sicly's chances of european success have been severly dented after a 3-0 home thrashing at the hands of mighty Man Utd.

Sicily didn't perform all evening and would have been content with a 0-0 scoreline, which looked the likely outcome until the impressive Rooney sprung into life scoring 2 goals in 5 mins. Darren Fletcher all but settled the contest in injury time.

Manager Mr Mnj was furious, "To concede 3 goals at the end is a shambles. Some our defenders are in for a tough time in training this week! If we'd kept it to 1-0 or even 2-0, we'd be in with a fighting chance at Old Trafford, but to go to the Theatre Of Dreams having to win by 3 clear goals is a near impossible task"

RCD ESPANYOL NOTICIAS

penultimategame.jpg

Despite Juan Fran receiving his marching orders 5 minutes before half time for a cynical foul on Raul Tamudo, the away side couldn't make the extra man count.

Argentine Milito had given the hosts the lead within 20 minutes only to see this cancelled out, when Riera's fine ball was firmly struck into the net by the Espanyol frontman.

Moments later, a moment of controversy. Zaragoza's experienced full back blatantly pulled on the Catalan captain's shirt, as he raced clear onto Velasco's high punt. Despite the whistles echoing from all four corners of La Romareda, the ref had no option but to produce a red.

The result does nothing to ease relegation fears in Spain's second city, although both Bilbao and Sociedad lost to leave all 3 vying for survival on 24 points. With Mallorca winning at El Madrigal to leapfrog into 13th, the intense battle to stay up reaches boiling point, with the final weekend of matches becoming the fatal deciders.

OTHER RESULTS
Villareal 0 Real Mallorca 1
Real Madrid 3 Real Sociedad 1
Athletic Bilbao 1 Sevilla 2

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Good luck for the last match db...if Mallorca can win against Villareal, then Espanyol can manage that too...

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Time for a new challenge!!!

I'm gonna carry on with Sicily until the end of the Jan transfer window, but unfortunately it has become far too easy.

In my top of the table clash with Inter at the San Siro, I was looking forward to an exciting encounter which could decide the title. I ended up winning 5-0, and they didn't have a single effort on goal, my biggest PES6 anti climax to date. I know it's my own fault by picking young talented players. My second season was brilliant. The com scored loads against me and I had many 3-2 & 4-3 games. But all of a sudden in my 3rd season, I'm more or less unbeatable (which isn't much fun). I though I'd had the balance right with this team, as it has no 'superstar' players.

So roll on Jan 31st when I'll start my new adventure with a weaker team - probably Fulham. I still need help deciding on a 'Craven Cottage' type of stadium, any ideas?

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

hi mnj,

well traditionally i've always used the Stade Louis II as it's about the right size. Parma's is the other alternative but it's a bit two big at the sides

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Everton defender Joleon Lescott on rumours linking him with a shock move to Real Madrid:

"The closest I have come to Real Madrid is on Pro Evolution,"

I wonder what he makes of his stats. He's probably playing an ML with Real and made himself captain

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

I never heard of Lescott but this reply makes him very likeable for me...
I've read some very funny stories about real life football players who play Football Manager and who have their virtual counterparts in their teams. One story was hilarious: the real player (= virtual manager) had all sorts of troubles with his virtual self...in the end he had enough of it and the virtual manager transferred his virtual self to another club...i enjoyed that story tremendously...(it was a young English player but i honestly don't remember his name).

Makes me think about the real story of Italian (former) cyclist Michele Bartoli...he was one of the best "classics" (= one day races) of the world in the 90's. His dream was to win the biggest race of them all: the Tour de France...unfortunately for him the Tour is a 3 week race and irl Michele Bartoli came nowhere near winning...
In 2000 there was finally a cpu game about cycling and Bartoli turned out to be a freak of that game (Cycling Manager). His virtual ambition was to win the Tour with his virtual counterpart...he tried for ages but the best reslut he could get was 12th in the overal ranking...

Mnj, if i had to play with Fulham, i would chose the rasunda as my home ground...i' haven't the faintest clue if it looks like Craven Cottage but Rasunda is a stadium for clubs like Fulham, Sochaux, Sheffield...
