All Square in San Siro thriller

In one of the most action packed games of the season FC Sicily's winning streak came to an end with a 1-1 draw against 3rd place AC Milan at the San Siro. The islanders went into the game knowing that a victory would effectively end the current champions' title challenge.

There were fireworks from word go as Alessandro Nesta saw red after a professional foul on Rafel Sobis. Sicily couldn't make their numerical advantage count and on 25 mins the numbers were evened out with De Guzman getting his marching orders for a similar challenge. From the reulting free kick Pirlo bent in a typical free kick to put the Rossineri 1-0 up.

Set piece maestro - Andrea Pirlo

From then on it was all Sicily, however Milan always looked dangerous on the counter attack. Dida was in inspired form between the sticks and just when Sicily were beginning to get disheartened up stepped top scorer Sobis to score a superb solo effort.

Manger Mr Mnj, was annoyed to drop points once more against a big team, "We seem to bottle it against the big boys. My players need to pull thier fingers out!" He was also critical of the referee "What a joke - just becasue he sent Nesta off he felt he needed to even up the numbers! Idiot!"

It's as you were in the league as Inter also dropped 2 points!

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

I only got a 7.5 rating for scoring all 4 goals! I know the ratings are strict but come on...Anyone else had a stupidly unrealistic rating?

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Db kicked her out before she could answer ;)

LOL...

And db did she like her Curry???

I know of two books by the Luther Blisset-collective who are translated in English.
As it happens i've read"Q" in English...it's a great book.

Thanks for the info on Bullard guys...

And Jagielka: i've bought him in my PSP ML with Bolton....i play him as a defender and as a central midfielder...i doubt if his GK stats will beas good as in IRL, hewas great against Arsenal (what a great goal Sheffiekd scored in that match and what a fantastic goal Taylor of Portsmouth scored a couple of weeks ago...)

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Hi Stan, I remember reading an article about this, i think i'll have to track on of their books down, hopefully they do a version not just in Italian!

btw - has anybody read read 'White Angels' by John Carlin, i picked it up from the library and was pleased I did because the chapters on the Perez Era & Zidanes & Pavons policy is fascinating.

Hi Peter,

I recall you saying you were going to have a ML with Watford at some point, your local club isnt it ?

Perhaps you could persuade Elton (That's John not Wellsby :) to return and plough a bit of money into the side/

db

Yep, Watford is my local club, my Dad used to follow them across the country to every game at my age. Unbelievable dedication. Even though its just outside of the London Boundaries it's closer to me than Chelsea, Fulham or Arsenal.

I wonder if Barnet is closer, but I hardly venture there. Watford has been a big part of my childhood. So it will be special to have a management stint at good old Vicarage Road.

Elton was a local boy too (went to my mums school, lol), I think he probably ploughed more than enough money into the club, but I will give him a ring considering the circumstances :D

@SB

Yeh, the Aussie Kennedy (not the legendary Karl I'm afraid :D). A similar type of player to Viduka from what I've seen of him so far.

I've definitely noticed how the computer will defend a lead in the dying minutes by either very good possession passing (and desperate hoofs from the box), but I haven't seen much in the way of Henry like time wasting :D

I got 9.0 for scoring 4 goals the other day with Park Chu Young

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Hm guys i thought that i'd have enough time to update the site, but it seems like i don't. :( It needs lots of stuff to be done and with all my university studies and job, i don't have too much free time to go and hang out with my friends and gf, not to say i have little time to play PES and even less time for updating the site. This actually means that i'll have to steal some time from friends and gf to be able to update site regularry, which is very unlikely to happen. ;)

So i'd better post my articles and news in here. It'll be much easier and less time-consuming. I'll even be able to post something when i'm at work. Hope you don't mind.

Take care...

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

not at all mate. just post when u get an opportunity. db

-

chaps, did anyone else catch the stonking Barca derby last night?

it was so great to see my boys :) in action, with an adventurous line up featuring tamudo, luis garcia and DLP (something i may have to try) fully deserving of their victory!

im sure many of you have started looking out or watching clubs that you've used in a ML, especially the less well known/smaller ones. Anyone else get that extra frisson of excitement when they are on live ??

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Exactly what i feel whenever one of "my" teams is playing db...
Problem is i rarely see other foreign football than the English Premiership...where "my current team" is Bolton Wanderers my ML in PSP PES6...
Would love to see a litle bit of Italian football with Atalanta and Palermo (last year, boy did i loved that one) or one of my favourite players like Bonnani (who was just transferred from Sampdoria to Ascoli)...

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

i'm thinking of moving to France in my Master League journey, what you think guys? have a couple of teams on my mind, dunno which one to choose thou...

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Db, if i'm not mistaken you still have two matches to play...against what clubs...with 6 points you can avoid relegation...don't give up (sometimes the CPU tends to be forgiving). I remember a season in my Wolfsburg ML in PES4. That second season (i think) the Bundesliga was a two horse race between Bayern and Wolfsburg. Both teams had the same amoiunt of points before the last match (better goal average for Bayern). So i thought a win was badly needed. I had a 1-1 draw against an average team (don't remember which one) while Bayern had to play against an already relegated team who barely had won a match all season...Bayern lost that match and Wolfsburg where champions. It felt something of an anti-climax to me.

Re-arranged: i played a ML with Auxerre in PES3. I really enjoyed it. Other French teams that i "used" in ML: Lille and Sochaux...i enjoyed them both. League 1 is fun to play with. There is a thread in the editing section where there is much talk about League 1. It's the one about the way Konami should do their stats, thread starter is PLF...really interesting.

BALAGUE RELEASES HIS SHORTLIST...

Headed by a young South American plying his trade in the Ukraine, Espanyol's 2007/08 shortlist is as follows...

Brazilian Jádson Rodriguez (Shaktar Donetsk), Austrian Andreas Ivanschitz (Panathanikos) and Argentine trio Ariel Ibagaza (Real Mallorca), Federico Insúa (Borussia Monchengladbach) and Osmar Ferreyra (CSKA Moscow/San Lorenzo).

The quintet all have one thing in common, the ability to carve a chance out of nothing for themselves or a team mate, and it is this crucial component that Balague considers "missing" in the current squad.

Obviously much will depend on the outcome of the next two games as to whether any of the 5 would consider a move to the Mediterranean coast as an attractive proposition. It also goes without saying that should the team experience relegation to the Segunda, then the club's cloth will have to be cut accordingly.

In the meantime however, the President is keen to accentuate the positive. And with the fans clearly in need of a boost, the timing of this announcement only be seen as a statement of intent, that Espanyol are better than their position in the table suggests.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Hi Re-arranged,

Toulouse is a fairly interesting team but the shirts could put you off :) Auxerre have the pedigree obtained under Guy Roux, and would be keen to get back to the glory days! and would be my tip.

Hi Gerd,

yep that's right. Away at Zaragoza and then home to Villarreal. Thankfully neither side is in the running for honours, but I've got to admit the pressure is getting to me.

I think it'll come down to the last weekend as everything is so tight but I'm not that confident of pulling off a great escape.

Interesting players your looking at denirobob, but i'll avoid Ibagaza. I've played with Mallorca before and the guy is to small and his a bit of a feather weight...come up against a strong holding midfielder and he'll be fucked!

Insúa is a player i would go for myself, caused me a few problem while i was in Div2 with Sparta Rotterdam. (BTW Red-Phoenix has done a stats update of him on his thread)

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Hi SB,

well bar Ivanschitz (The Austriam Beckham!) none of them should have a problem with the language.

I think as it happens Ibagaza will be out of my price range so maybe thats for the best, he looked good in both games against Mallorca though.

Anyway it's all counting chickens at this stage really. If the team goes down DLP, Pandiani and many more will be looking to get out asap i reckon.

Speaking off the record for a moment. Rumour has it that Balague has even been looking to northern England for a powerful striker with a lot of Steel. i'll say no more :)

lol. man, i've been following this thread for more than 1,5 years till now. still read it regularry and really enjoy discussions going on there.

Auxerre and Toulouse are both good ideas, but maybe i should try to go with PSG cos they are in a deep crisis this year, and althou their starting squad seems to be very strong i can't see any depth in it and every injury of a key player like Pauleta, Hellebuyck, Yepes, Cisse or Kalou makes the team lose lots of quality in play. Moreover those players are all around 30. and i can't see any sub players who can have good future in the team, except for Rodriguez maybe.

DB, i wouldn't buy neither Ivanschitz, nor Ibagaza. They are both very inconsistent, plus Ibagaza as Stringer Bell's mentioned is too small. Ferreyra isn't a good player imo, i'd better spend money into the new club bus than into him. My choice would be Jadson and Insua. Plus Insua has problems in his new team and would be likely to leave by the end of this season, if nothing changes.

Re-arranged i would of gone for Toulouse, but it depends if you can stand there kit really (which i can't). I've played a ML with Auxerre on PES5 and i didn't really like it, despite bringing in certain players and chaging the formation & tactics. PSG could be a good team to play with, maybe you can sell of some of their good players (and old ones) and build the team with all their youth players...just an idea.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Db, i agree with Stringer and Re-arranged concerning Insua.
I had him in my Palermo team in PES5. He's a great player who can play behind the strikers, as AMF, CMF,DMF and SMF...he has a good pass and is fairly good at scoring goals...
A big asset for any team..
Re-arranged: i understand the appeal PSG has but being a "big name" they will be overrated in PES and their will be no challenge...i would go for another French (i have to say that i really don't like both PSG and L'OM)...

In these last two matches, maybe you might want to play a 4-3-3 formation and go all out attack! At this position your probably going to get relegated so you might as well go gun-ho!

About the striker my guesses are Luis García, Luque, Nonda or Vaz Te. :)

BTW if you looking for a good CB/DMF during the off-season transfer, maybe you should check out Dare Nimbombé (Togo). He can play both positions...his tall, strong and has decent defensive ability. I'll recommend him to anyone.

What about St Etienne? A team with a great history and it would be a great challenge to try and bring back the 'good old days'!

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

I've decided to go for the premiership after the transfer window, and I'd like your opinion on what team to go for. I was thinking of Watford but Peter Eyres is going for them (and it would be pretty dull if this thread was full of stories about the same teams!).

I like the idea of West Ham, but I'm not sure if they are challenging enough (mainly because of the 2 Argies). What do you lot reckon? Any other suggestions would be great!

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

VazTe is very good db and so is Nonda...had them both in past ML teams...

Wigan Athletic, Reading and Sheffield Utd seem fun enough.

It looks like Marsherano could be on his way to Liverpool for the rest of the season, so that might be worth considering. Reo-Coker is tipped to leave this month. It might be worth waiting until the end of the month (its hard I know) before setting your heart on someone.

Out of the premiership, I'd recommend:

Aston Villa (a very big club, but they slipped down the pecking order in England) Might be a bit easy, they do have some very useful players (Baros, Angel, Mellberg, Petrov etc)

Fulham (Like a yoyo, now they are usually stuck in the bottom half of the table, narrowly avoiding relegation and have lost most of their talent.....Malbranque, Boa Morte, Saha etc)

Charlton (again they are another club on a decline following Curbs departure) You'll have a young starlet in Bent, and seasoned veterans like Hasselbaink and Herideson.
