Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Hi DB

To be honest I've tried a few MLs and have been searching for the perfect balance. I didn't enjoy my first one with Man U (Ronaldo & Rooney are too good). I then tried one with the default players and could hardly score a goal! So I thought I'd create a team full of decent players (who I know will become great) to see how that goes, and I'm loving it! It's obviously getting easier as basically all of my squad are turning into great players. I also love playing with young players and watch develop, and this seemed to be the best option.

As I said in an earlier post, if it becomes too easy, I'll go for a poorer team. I would like to make my next ML my last one before the next version, so I need a team that's gonna provide a great challenge. Any suggestions (La Liga preferably). Also do you set yourself any strict rules e.g. can't buy a player over a certain value etc?

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

To answer your question mnj: search a relatively weak team with older players (i've had an absolutely loverly ML a couple of years ago with Wolfsburg). That way you can "build" a new team gradually and your team will get slowly better...

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Atalanta Bergamo in CL's semi-finals after a thriller:
The all-Italian quarter final between Fiorentina and Atalanta was a nervous affair.
Both clubs knew that they could face the winner of a double Chelsea-Barcelona clash of giants.

Fiorentina - Atalanta 0-0
In this match Atalanta was the better team but Fiorentina's GK Frey played one hell of a match.

Atalanta - Fiorentina 1-0
'74: Ventola (assist: Soncin).

Atalanta will meet Barcelona in the semi-final while Real Madrid and AC Milan will dispute the other semi-final.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

I f u like La Liga, mnj, i'd recommend u to choose Osasuna, they've got a decent squad without any real stars, except maybe for very promising central midfielder Raul Garcia, also u can have a go with Celta Vigo or Levante but my favourite is Real Betis.

As for the rules, i've got some rules:

1-Never buy players that the real team won't be able to buy. For example Osasuna will never buy top players from the bigger teams, they will mostly try to get some decent players and youngsters from lower teams, of course there are some exceptions like if your team is at the top of the table and/or it participates in european cups regularry, then u can get some bigger players than u have at the moment but within realistic range.

2-Not more than 4-5 transfers alowed per season. You can choose how u wanna use those, either 4 in 1 out, 3 in 2 out et cetra. Of course there are exceptions, like i had to let go Dyer, Harper and Moore, cos they did get some good proposals from Man City, Sheffield and Espanyol respectively, and they really lacked playing time throu the season plus clubs came in with good money. So i had to break the rule in this situation. But it happens very rarely to me.

3-You have to sell your best players if some big club wants to buy them and if they give you some good money of course. Don't forget that this transaction should be realistic aswell not like selling some Italian player to England, it rarely happens in life, italians usually choose italian grands, either than some foreign ones, but there are exceptions aswell.

Those are three main rules, for me.

Montella, Vialli, Pistone, Materazzi, Casiraghi, Di Matteo, Ravanelli, Maccarone, Cudicini, Zola, Padelli, Taibi, Rossi, Lupoli, Di Canio, to name a few. I'd argue the opposite is rarer. There has always been a substantial Italian presence in England :)

Cheers for that Re-arranged, some great tips.

I was thinking of Real Betis (I love their kit!) but Rafel Sobis is so good for my FC Sicily team that it may become easy - I suppose I could always sell him!

RCD ESPANYOL 1 REAL MALLORCA 1

With a stalemate seemingly on the cards, as both teams packed men behind the ball, the game's last 10 minutes suddenly sprang into life.

With the clock ticking down, Argentine Ariel Ibagaza worked an opening and hit the post with a stunning drive. The ball ricocheted back out, and Diego Tristan dived to the floor to head the ball into an unguarded net.

An audible silence could be heard around the stadium, as the Mallorcan's ran to their fans to celebrate. Seemingly dejected and with the stuffing knocked out of them, one man, the captain rose to the occasion, grabbing the ball and cajoling his teammates to keep fighting.

The loyal home supporters, seeing their skipper's reaction, roared with one last effort as injury time beckoned. Inspired, Tamudo picked the ball up midway inside Real's half and embarked on a powerful zig-zagging run. Ballesteros came across to challenge but was held off by the slighter, quicker opponent and could only watch as the Espanyol frontman unleashed a rocket into the top corner from 18 yards.

But those players started playing in England at not so young age, except for Lupoli maybe, Rossi was born in USA as i remember, correct me if i'm wrong, so i won't count him as a pure Italian, you must agree that italians don't come to England or other countries so often, they still prefer Serie A. Moreover, it's uncomparable with the french or africans presence in english clubs. At the moment there are few italian players in EPL Cudicini, Montella, Rossi, Lupoli, Macarrone, Pistone, Corradi. The last three aren't really good players, and they are past peak of their careers, Cudicini and Montella are better, good players, but also past their peak. Rossi is another story as i mentioned b4, Lupoli isn't even playing in EPL now, and he doesn't seem so promising. And as i said that if players have some good options in Serie A top teams, they'll most likely prefer to stay at home, rather than go abroad.

But of course i agree that English players move to italy very very rarely, and to other countries aswell.

SICILIANS KEEP IN TOUCH WITH INTER

After 2 more superb league results FC Sicily have widened the gap between themselves and Milan and are hot on the tails of Inter. Mangaer Mr Mnj was over the moon, "Another great week, we could have easily lost ground with these 2 tricky away fixtures, but the lads once more did me proud."

5809.jpg

Francisco Yeste - Goal of the season?

Palermo 0 - 2 FC Sicily
Yeste 4'
Park Chu Young 68'
MOTM Obi Mikel 7.5

This result was never in doubt after Sicily got off to the perfect start with a 'goal of the seaon' contender from Spanish maestro Yeste - a 20 yard 'Rabona' shot into the top right hand corner.

Fiorentina 1 - 2 FC Sicily
Toni 3' Rafael Sobis 42', 67'

MOTM Rafael Sobis 8.0

Luca Toni ensured Sicily got off to the worst possibly start, conceding a headed goal after just 3 mins. After that, the islanders nervously fought back and barzilian Sobis showed his team mates how it's done with a fine brace.

Serie Standings - Week 11
1 Inter 31 pts
2 FC Sicily 28pts
3 Milan 20pts
4 Juve 18pts

CL update
In the final group stage, FC sicily were drawn against, Chelsea, R Madrid and Ajax (again)!
In fixture 1 Sicily won a hard fought game 2-1 at Stamford Bridge with Park Chu Young scoring on 15 & 47 mins. Shevchenko had earlier made it 1-1 in first half injury time.

In the second game Sicily got a point in a 1-1 draw in the Amsterdam Arena with teenager Nuri Sahin grabbing the goal.

After heavy criticism, this week saw the return to form of Korean Park Chu Young to the delight of his manager, "Never doubt the Asian Magician!" Mr Mnj firmly said.

Hi,

Betis are one of those underachieving "potentially" big clubs that every country has, so at least it offers the potential for bringing in bigger/better players in the future - not a bad call.

I think the third rule here as practiced by nerf among others, is a great one. I can already see a host of top names ejecting the Montijuic should the Segunda divison prove a reality.

One thing chaps, is it at all possible to change the transfer settings once the season has finished ? there wasn't a single move in the jan window across the whole ML (ive got it on the minimum setting)

cheers

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

But of course i agree that English players move to italy very very rarely, and to other countries aswell.

Those are the in-game transfers which annoy me most. Some guy from Watford or Sheffield Utd going to Milan/Real Marid/Barca etc

Db, you can't change the transfer setting afterwards. I however, will start my next ML on low, because there's far too much movement for my liking, even on normal.

in all seriousness i know what you mean. I rememebr reading a great post possibly on the PES5ML thread, where the author suggested other factors determining transfer success such as climate, language, future prospects etc..

It would be nice if the majority of African players from French speaking countries ended up in Le Championnat or Turkish players in the Bundesliga for example.

Hi mate

so do you think during the summer there will be some movement then ?. I must admit like you i like it to be kept to a minimum but none at all, well thats just a bit daft too.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

...Speaking of transfers, in my CL game against Chelsea, Milan Baros was their main striker...do Konami know something we don't? Hmm...

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

I knew someone would bring up Luther Blissett. Might as well throw in a Paul Elliott too

Db, i reckon the com will only transfer when it really needs it ie retiring players needing to be replaced. Or perhaps just having one keeper.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

hi proff,

sorry but it had to be done :)

so from what your saying, this doesnt bode very well for me actually being able to buy/sell anyone then ? :(

Do you guys know that there actually is a leftist writers collective that is writing some rather good novels under the name of Luther Blisset.
Blisset became something of a cult figure among leftist people from around Bologna. It started with students refusing to travel trains without tickets. If they were caught out they gave "Luther Blisset " as their name.
One of the books is called "Q" and it is great...an historic thriller...

Hey in Winning 10: J-League, theres a revamped Master League menu. They also have a new mode of difficulty, "master league difficulty". I chose extreme, meaning players get more fatigued (I guess) and I'll be forced to rotate my squad, giving my Arsenal youngsters experience.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Hi guys,

nice to be reading of the best threads on the forum again.

Just thought I'd update you lot on my ML experiences.

I finished my earlier season with Aachen on PES5 and went back to Seria A for my first ML of PES6 (gotta love Serie A)

I decided to take the attractive offer of the position at Torino. Notable players in my first season were Oguro, Barone, Rosina Franchescini, Comotto and of course Fiore.

I added Zigic, Gavranic, Eigler, Lee Ho (outstanding DM, strength, technique, would get his head to every Ariel ball, and a strong shot) and Cuevas to the squad, and this really propelled Torino up into contention for Europe. Much like Liverpool in England, I failed to beat the Milan giants when it really mattered, but finished in 3rd, the fans were jubilent. We won the D1 Cup, beating Inter to make up for heavy defeats in the league. We also qualified for the champions league after storming through the qualification stage, beating Liverpool, Man United and Werder Bremen to the top spot.

The Oguro/Zigic partnership worked a treat, with the pace of Cuevas coming off the bench, goals were plentiful. Barone and Lee Ho anchored a deep central midfield which protected the back four, allowing my wingers (Lazetic and Fiore) and the occasional foray from Comotto and Balestri to punished teams via the flanks.

My second season at the helm, saw new faces, but this failed to equate to any trophies. Another 3rd place finish, and a heart braking CL Final defeat was our claim to fame.

The CL final against Chelsea was one of the truly special PES moments. Held in the Stade de France (kitserver hehe) on a warm night. The atmosphere was fantastic. The Chelsea fans came in large numbers from across the channel, but the Torino faithful made it an atmosphere to remember. With my computer volume up high, and Tommersons Chant pack installed...it was quite special. Torino started with the same high tempo that was a hallmark of our play in the league. The old warhorse Fiore, placed a glancing header in the bottom corner from a whipped Jimmy Bullard cross. Torino had several opportunities soon after the double the advantage. Lazetic and Zigic, both missed guilt-edged chances. The arrival of Patrick Kluivert at half-time, replacing the quiet Didier Drogba sparked a Chelsea come back. Shevchenko curl in a low shot from the edge of the penalty area, and soon after a Robben knock down teed up Kluviert's smashed half volley. Torino couldn't muster another goal, with John Terry's immense performance playing some part. 10 minutes before the final whistle, Frank lampard collected the ball on the half way line, and chipped a delightful through ball into the path of Kluivert, who beat the offside track, brushed off the desperate attempts of Franchescini and slotted past the on-rushing Abbiati to seal the win, and a first CL title under Jose Mourinho.

The new faces that season included; Hilbert, Bullard and Srna.

Discarded players: Taibi, Abbruscato, Melara, Bakayoko,Balestri, Stellone, Brevi, Music, Ardito, Ofvi, Ferranse

I'm just half way through my third season at the helm, the optimism is drying up, despite CL qualifcation, Milan and Inter still dominate the league, with Fiorentina, Roma and Palermo constantly on Torino's back,

But I plan to move back to England (Vicarage Road) again to try and save my local club from relegation back to the Championship. I plan on taking over there once the transfer window is complete in RL (hopefully Young doesn't move, but he we want him at Liverpool!), and also once I have my hands on an updated option file.

I have brought in more players to Torino with the windfalls in club revenue from the CL run, and these players should continue to cement the rise of Torino to a top three club in Italy (until Juve return). Simao was snapped up on a bosman, citing the attractive blend of football played at Torino as his reasoning. Sissoko arrived in Turin from Liverpool, with Abburscato moving in the opposite direction. Mark Kennedy and Akgun have been brought in to add depth to the Torino strikeforce. The veteran german defender, Christian Worns has also arrived to lead the defensive line that was leaking considerably in my second season. And last but not least, Akale is injecting pace back into the Torino flanks, and thus far he has been linking up well with the strikeforce.

After a late show in the CL qualifying stage. Torino once again, will take part in Europe's premier footballing competition. Notable wins away at St James Park and the Renzo Barbera (5-1) put Torino through by winning the group.

Its been a fun ML. The transfers in PES6 have improved, but as mentioned consistently in this thread, not enough for my liking. Plenty of offers came through for my in-form player, and there were even bites for transfer listed reserves. I've found some legendary players on the way. Oguro has scored close to 50 goals and created 20 assists over the three seasons. Probably down to his creative skills, he can play in AMF, SS and CF. His positioning is exemplary and his response in the box always gives him an advantage over defenders, his good agility and dribbling skills allows him to skip past players, and has perfected the art of rounding or feinting the keeper before slotting or chipping home. Lee Ho is one of the greatest DM's I've ever come across on the game. Only bettered by Patrick Viera in Seria A. And Zigic is quite simply, the best target man I've ever had the pleasure of playing with. He's up there with Koller, Carew on my all time PES list :D

All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I'm still however really looking for a massive challenge, and I'm hoping that a stint at Watford will be exactly that, a club with a small squad, and minimal financial resources.

Newcastle United Master League
http://www.freewebs.com/mlnufc/index.html

It's only beta of the site. It will get only better with more interesting stuff, of course if i have enough time.

Little prehistory of my master league. Before starting my ml i made a couple of transfers (no cheating, just restarted my ml and was too lazy to wait till midseason to bring in those players once again :p ) Transfered in Coloccini and Volz, i think they are rather realistic, cos Deportivo is low on money and they surely need to sell their expencive players and as for Moritz, Fulham is in second division, so rather realistic too. Of course i sold Luque to Espanyol, cos he was too expensive and had very low chances of playing to be honest, also i returned Rossi to Man U.
Therefore had to start with 10000 Pes Points.

Next transfer window i bought Shaun Maloney from Celtic and Phil Jagielka from Sheffield, sold Harper to Sheffield aswell.

Finished my first season on the 12-th place, Martins was league top scorer with 15 goals.

Now i'm at the beginning of season 2. You can read about my summer incoming transfers on the site. I wasn't really going to sell any players, but CPU came in with very interesting proposal for Moore and Dyer so i wasn't really able to reject it, both players didn't really play much last season so it was just a matter of time till they would leave.

What a good story Peter Eyres.
I really enjoyed that...what happened to Jimmy Bullard irl...i thought he was outstanding with Wigan last season...didn't he joined Fullham??? But he never plays...

I'm also playing a Ml on PSP andi really like it.
There are actually more clubs involved and transfers are more realistic.
You start off in a mixed third division (Bolton, Sheffield, Atalanta, Recreativo, Lorient, Rosenborg,...). Only the champions gets promotion to division 2. There are several divisions two: English (where Bolton currently is playing), French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and "others".
The first division is all-star: the big clubs from those countries...
When i was in third division (and also in the off-season between third and second), i could only transfer players from other third division clubs or free players. But it isn't possible to buy good free players....Anelka was the star of Bolton and he got offers from Milan, Inter, Arsenal and Real Madrid...

All in all thusfar more realistic than the PS2 ML...

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

@Stan, Jimmy Bullard suffered what looked like an horrific broken leg injury while playing for Fulham at Newcastle earlier in the season and is out for the rest of the season.

@Re-arranged, Site is looking good, interesting signing you made in getting in Jagielka, will you play him in midfield, defence or even as the GK?;)

@Peter, really great story, is Rosina still in your squad or have you got rid of him? as he looks a fantastic talent in real-life. I know what you mean about Zigic, in the odd friendly I have played as Santander I was amazed how well he handles on the pitch

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Hi Stan,

Yeh Bullard suffered a serious injury quite early on in the season for Fulham. It was a real shame, because at the time he scored some cracking goals and was putting in some great peformances. I'm not sure on his current status, still injured, but not sure what his comeback time table is.

I brought him into my squad to act as a utility player, but also to provide cover in midfield. Barone and Lee Ho rarely got injuries, and they both have excellent stanima. There was a time where I moved Bullard to the right side of my midfield whilst experimenting with different formations, and it worked a treat. I scored a couple of screamers with him, his workrate in closing down other players was excellent, and he could put in a decent cross.

That PSP ML sounds interesting. I was tempted to get a PSP to play PES on the move, lol. I could have a quick game on the way to work to get over withdrawal from my 7 hours or so without playing a game! The different format is intriguing.:)

Yeh, I had quite a few offers for Rosina, but he is far too talented to let go. At the moment, Akale is keeping him out of the team, but this is really down to my current formation. For a while I played with an advanced AM in the hole, and Rosina really did add penetration to the side at a time where I was struggling a bit. I've also employed him on the left side of midfield, but he lacks the pace and is also a little lightweight. He was excellent in any of my counter attacks, and he could squeeze in impossible shots on the edge of the penalty area. He doesn't have the hardest shot in the world, but boy could he curl them in. A very useful set piece expert might I add. I swapped the CK duties between him and Srna which worked a treat.

Zigic can just bulldoze his way through a defence, and he used to win 99% of the knockdowns. He started quite slowly after I bought him, but he slowly gelled with the rest of the team, and has been my leading top scorer for last season, and he's continued this year. A late surge of goals in the 2nd season saw him overtake Oguro as the teams topscorer and is now high up on the total goals tally (records), up there with Villa, Smolarek! and Henry

Thanks, JeffT, he plays as DMF with Parker playing in front of him as cmf, but i can put him into the goal if both of my keepers are injured .

Hi Stan, I remember reading an article about this, i think i'll have to track on of their books down, hopefully they do a version not just in Italian!

btw - has anybody read read 'White Angels' by John Carlin, i picked it up from the library and was pleased I did because the chapters on the Perez Era & Zidanes & Pavons policy is fascinating.

Hi Peter,

I recall you saying you were going to have a ML with Watford at some point, your local club isnt it ?

Perhaps you could persuade Elton (That's John not Wellsby :) to return and plough a bit of money into the side/

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Hi chaps! Enjoyed reading all the posts in here! :)

Just wanted to say something quickly about a little incident that happened in my ML.

I was playing against PSV in Div1, (my third season with Sparta Rotterdam) I was losing 1-0 and in the last few minutes of the match Vayrynen ran down the flanks and went to the corner of the touchline and held the ball in front on him (like how Henry does) to run the time down! :D That shit surprised because i never expected that to ever happen and i never new what to do so i tackled him from a behind (:circle: ) with Bouaouzan, got carded and PSV won a freekick, which resulted in a goal being scored! 2-0!

Has anybody ever seen a player do this in the last minutes of a match?

Nice little touch there by Konami! :)

Mark Kennedy
Hey Peter Eyres, good post! :)

Was wondering is that the Australian Kennedy? If that is, make sure you give a fair run in the team and trust me he won't disappoint you! Him and Zigic could possibly make a good partnership up front, defender will be shitting their draws! :)
