6 STAR SICILY SHOW THEIR CLASS
2020-20050609134206.jpg

Star Man Park Chu Young stole the show with 4 goals

Livorno 0 - 6 FC Sicily
P C Young 5', 8', 35, 69
Mitea 41'
R Sobis 81'
MOTM - P C Young 9/10

FC Sicily's up and coming team showed no nerves whatsoever in their first ever game in front of the TV cameras, romping home to an emphatic 6-0 win over mid table Livorno.

The islander's got off to an emphatic start with the impressive Park Chu Young scoring 2 of his 4 goals within the first 8 minutes of the match, resulting in him getting a mark of 9 out of 10. The lively duo of Mitea and Rafael Sobis added to the misery of Livorno with 2 further quality strikes.

Understandably FC Sicily manager Mr Mnj was over the moon, "My players were excellent. To be honest it was just one of those games when everything seemed to hit the back of the net."

When asked about the future of the Park Chu Young Mr Mnj added "He's an importnat player for the club. We want to build the team around him, so the likes of Chelsea can keep their hands off! He is the first player during my managerial career to get a mark of 9 out of 10 and that says it all!"

Mr Mnj was also quick to quash talk of the title heading to Sicily, "I said at the beginning of the season that our main aim is to break the dominance of the Milan clubs by breaking into the top 2 or 3 and winning a cup competition. This result hasn't changed that."

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Park Chu Young is one hell of a player in PES, mnj...
I had him in my Sochaux ML in PES5. I think he's the best forward i've ever had in any PES....

Although i'm quite impressed with Kerzhakov in this ML with Atalanta.

Yesterday Atalanta beat Palermo 3-1 after a really satisfying game.
In the first half Palermo were clearly the better team but Proto performed some miracles resultin in only a one goal lead for Palermo.
In the second half Atalanta played all or nothing with three strikers (Kerzhakov, Soncin and Castillo) but it was Donadel who was the star of the second half. He scored two magnificent goals and Kerzhakov added a third.

Next is a quarter final CL match against Fiorentina. Perhaps this might inspire Donadel for another big performance...

Off topic: Does anyone here listen to 'punster' James Richardson's weekly Podcast? I subscribe to it myself, as i find it rather amusing (a few chaps in a room discussing past and upcoming footy action). This week's, including the Diogo/Luis Fabiano scrap, is particularly amusing, i think (perhaps as they don't talk about Chelsea for a change - running gag). If you want to check it out go here. You can subscribe to it in iTunes, so that it DLs the new podcast automatically each week.

Hi Proff,

I do on occasions mate (started doing so during WC) although i should ensure i do so each week.

The Guardian is probably the best site for footy including Sid Lowe's excellent La Liga column, Phil Ball's on Soccernet isn't bad either.

Well done with the 6-0 victory mnj

Young starlet Okaka grabbed the games only goal

UEFA Champions League Qualifying Group C - Fixture 4
FC Sicily 1 - 0 Juventus
Okaka '4

MOTM Okaka 7.5

With 2 wins and 1 draw from their first 3 games, FC Sicily decided to rest a number of players for the visit of Juve, with Marveaux and Loka coming into the back 3; Maresca and Sno in the engine room; Yeste on the flank; and Okaka and Caricciolo up front.

Having said that they got off to a flyer, with promising young Italian hitman Okaka getting the games only goal after 4 minutes. The game fizzled out after that with Juventus providing surprisingly little threat considering their need for points in the group.

Manager Mr Mnj was satisfied with the performance, "I have great faith in the squad and had no problem in resting many of the 'star' players...To qualify from the group with 2 games remaining is a tremendous achievement in our first ever Euro adventure. Our aim now is to win the group."

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Cheers DB

I couldn't believe it. My fisrt ever game that I was gojng to report on and I couldn't stop scoring. I think it's my best ever result on Top Player and definately my first ever 9 out of 10!

I'm afraid that i'm a very poor judge of players irl..i hardly see any foreign football apart from Match of the day...

Judging him by his PES abilities he's great, but then we all have an Persian friend who doesn't rate PES stats very high and i tend to agree with him...

When there is a new PES i always go looking for the stats of some Belgian players.
I always begin with Wesley Sonck and Bernd Thys because they are among my favourite players. Sonck never has high free kick abilities and Thys never has special ability "middle shooting"...of course in this last version...thys isn't even included...

Konami seems to overlook the fact that even less strong competitions have very good players and that even some lesser known players may have high stats in a couple of particular abilities...i remember a Belgian player long before there were video games (beginning of the 80's) who was a forward and who never had a national selection, but who nonetheless held the national athletics records for under 18's at 100, 200 and 400 meters...in others words, he was lightning quick...wel Konami would give average stats, also for speed...

So to answer your question: i haven't got the feigntest clue about that...sorry.

Sicily boss plays down 'make or break' game

Ahead of FC Sicily's eagerly awaited game at home to Inter Milan at the weekend, boss Mr Mnj was quick to play down the need of a win for the home side. On the club's website Mr Mnj released the following statement, "This game will not make or break our season, there is a long way to go in the title race and to be honest just competing with these major clubs at the top of the table is an achievement."

The relaxed attitude of the manager is being questioned by some fans. FanClub president Paolo Dolmio added his concerns, "Mnj is starting to remind me of David O'Leary at Leeds - always playing down his sides chances. We need to win this game. We're at home, so there's no excuses"

Sicily are currently 3 points behind Inter & AC Milan in 3rd place.

Inter end Sicily's unbeaten run

Ibrahimovic grabbed Inter's deserved equaliser

FC Sicily 1 - 0 Inter Milan
Burdisso OG '4 Ibrahimovic 38'

MOTM Kompany 6.5

Once again FC Sicily got off to the perfect start in this top of the table clash when Inter's defender Burdisso scored at the wrong end. However from then on FC Sicily took there foot off the gas and let Inter back into the game.

In truth this was a nervous display from the young islanders and Zlatan Ibrahimovic grabbed a deserved equaliser towards the end of the first half.

During the second half neither team created that many chances. Mr Mnj was satisfied with the outcome, "We didn't play well today and under the circumstances a draw was a fair result"

However, the FC Sicily boss was criticised after the game by the club chairman for the tactics he used, "When we went a goal up he should gone to 4 at the back to hold on to the lead."Mr Mnj hit back stating "It annoys me when men in suits think they know anything about tactics. If people have got a problem with my formation they should have the bottle to tell me face to face."
Mr Mnj went on to praise his opponents "Inter are a great team who have a lot more experience than us at this particular time. A point against them is a good result."

SUCCESS ON BOTH FRONTS FOR SICILIANS

Since dropping points at home to fellow title challengers Inter, FC Sicily have had a superb couple of weeks, winning 2 tricky away fixtures in the league and finishing top of their Champions League qualifying group.

Serie A Round up

Sampdoria 0 - 2 FC Sicily
Okaka 70', 87'
MOTM Okaka - 8.0

101703.jpg

Supersub Okaka

The Sicilian outfit struggled throughout and the game was heading for a stalemate until Mr Mnj made an inspirational triple substitution, with Italian Golden Boy Okaka scoring with his very first touch. He later added a second to secure the win.

Parma 0 - 4 FC Sicily
Nuri Sahin 18'
Rafael Sobis 42', 43'
Mitea 88'
MOTM Sobis - 8.0

Sobis was on fire against Parma

A superb first half performance effectively killed this potential banana skin fixture for the islanders. The pace and skills of Brazilian forward Rafael Sobis proving to be too much for the opponents. The result means that FC Sicily have moved up to 2nd place on goal difference in the table.

Serie A Week 7 standings
1 Inter 19pts
2 FC Sicily 16pts
3 AC Milan 16pts
4 Torino 13pts
5 Juve 13pts
6 Atalanta 11pts

UEFA CL Roundup

FC Sicily fell to their first defeat of the group in fixture 5, losing 1-0 at home to Lyon. In truth the french side thoroughly deserved the victory with Norwegian hitman John Carew claiming the only goal with a well taken chip.

The final fixture of the group proved to be a cracker against Ajax in the Amsterdam Arena. FC Sicily got off to a flying start scoring 2 quick fire goals, a 20 yarder from Obi Mikel (5mins) and penalty from Yeste (18 mins). It seemed as though the game had fizzled out, but the home side sprung into life and target man Huntelaar looked to have earned a point for Ajax with 2 well taken goals on 69mins & 80mins. However this seemed to kick Sicily into action and Caricciolo grabbed 2 late goals to secure a superb 4-2 victory.

First of all fantastic thread guys. I'd really like to put in my spare of ml reading and discussion (i'm currently in my first midseason with Newcastle and it feels very realistic}. But i fear that my english isn't good enough to write such interesting posts like all of you do. But i can try of course. ;)

But now to the question about Kerzhakov. Yea Konami does really poor job on most players in their database (i edit it alot and i'm well aware of that fact and had to make many corrections in stats even for likes of Ferdinand, Lamps, Ballack, Henry etc.). And i must admit, Kerzhakov is very wrong, if you want i can post his realistic stats in Spoiler or pm to those who are interested in them.

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Hi DB,

Still managing to not lose games but not win them either I see:)
correct me if I'm wrong but your next 4 games are Barca,Betis, Mallorca and Real Madrid, if you could pick up 5-6 points in those it should ease any relegations fears, especially in the Mallorca game which is a proper six pointer;)

Hi mate

Sorry i have just updated the site (boss is out of office!), although overall things are pretty much the same.

As you can see a win down in Andalucia sort of made up for another defeat in El Derbi, with Pandiani showing the kind of fighting spirit lacking in too many of the rest of the squad.

As you rightly say the next game is massive and well and truely could define the remainder of the season. Rufete is out after a 2nd booking in succesive weeks. After that yep it's Real at the Bernabeu and Sevilla at home before another chance to put 5 past Osasuna :)

What a league eh! plus the rain really does seem to rain mainly on the plain - the betis game probably should of been called off

db

ps - have you yet or are you going to start the Catania ML you mentioned ?

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

2 horse title race?

Another superb week for FC Sicily saw them pull of rivals AC Milan in second place with the reigning champions stuttering with 2 consecutive draws. However, Manager Mr Mnj was not prepared to write off the Rossoneri "A 2 horse race? No chance. Milan are quality, we certainly won't be writing them off."

Torino 0 - 1 FC Sicily
Obi Mikel 90+2'
MOTM Obi Mikel - 8.5

_41138261_mikel203.jpg

Obi Mikel scored the last gasp winner

The week began with a trip to Turin against 4th place Torino. FC Sicily struggled throughout to get their free flowing game into action. For 90 minutes the game was a scrappy affair which looked like ending in a goaless draw until the young Nigerian John Obi Mikel fired home in stoppage time. Mr Mnj praised his sides 'never say die' attitude, "We knew Milan had dropped points earlier on in the day and this effected our performance. However my team showed great determination."

FC Sicily 4 - 0 Chieveo Verona
Cariciolo 21', 46'
Miea 39'
Ooijer OG 78'

MOTM Caricciolo 7.5

On paper this seemed an easy fixture for Sicily against 14th place Chievo and indeed this proved to be the case with the islanders putting in a superb performance with target man Caricciolo staking his claim for a regular place in the team scoring a fantastic brace.

The post match talk however was regarding the ommission of Park Chu Young from the side, sparking fresh speculation regarding his future. The Korean's only goals of the season came in the 6-0demolition of Livorno, and Mr Mnj stated this as the reason for dropping him, "Apart from that one game he hasn't been performing, so he was dropped for footballing reasons and nothing to do with him requesting a transfer...he will be back to his best soon!"

58487.jpg

Is Park Chu Young heading out of Sicily?

Serie A standings after 9 games.
1 Inter 25pts
2 FC Sicily 22pts
3 AC Milan 18pts

Good luck with the 6 pointers DB. It must be really exciting fighting for survival. After I taste success with Sicily (as I don't think I've ever won Div 1 on top player on any version before - I want to prove I can!) I'm going to go for a small club and hopefully be involved in a relegation dogfight like you!

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

hi mate

its a combination of excitmenet tinged with dread every time i take to the field. My god how i celebrated when Pandiani equalised against Valencia and then scored against Betis!

Your obvioulsy doing well in your league mate. I was just wondering why you chose to create a new team FC Sicily rather than a real life club ?

cheers

Another English club taken over by a Russian tycoon....much luck with Newcastle and welcome Russian friend....
We might get along well because since playing ML i always seem to end up with Russian players: Kerzhakov, Izmailov, the Russian who played for Real Sociedad (Karpin??? forgot his name, but he was great for me in PES4) and an absolutely fantastic young GK in PES3 (forgot his name)....

Db, thrash Mallorca....bad luck against Barcelona and a good performance against Valencia (difficult team that...).

Hi mate,

Hey m8, yea i'm russian, ur right.

Why did i choose newcastle? First of all i'm admirer of english football i watch it alot, i know almost every player, even youngsters, very well. Secondly, Newcastle is and has been my favourite EPL team for years, their biggest problem is the lack of good managers at the helm. So i came there to change this situation. :)

Now i'm in my first summer after season no.1 just was thinking out my future transfers for currect summer and upcoming season.

Currently working on website for my team, so that i'll be able to make my ML even more fun and all of my news/results/statistics more visually appealing for reading.

 not a tycoon at all. To be honest i'm low on money at the moment, so i have to choose my transfers wisely. :) Glad to hear that your using and what's even more - admiring russian players. Yea it was Valeriy Karpin, he is a legendary player, even at 35 he was amazing for Sociedad. Izmailov was very promising a couple of years ago, but consistent injuries prevented him from becoming a stars of russian football, like Arshavin or Ignashevich for instance.

Karpin it was mate, what a legend!

Cliché-maestro:
Celta's Valeri Karpin. "At the end of the day", he wrote in Marca, "it's eleven against eleven on a rectangular pitch with two goals, one at each end, and a ball that's round. What matters are los hombres no los nombres [the men, not the names]".

Karpin and Titov are two of my all time PES legends! :D

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

Yea it's Zenit St-Petersburg.

I am quite interested in the Russian league although it is impossible to see any games from it in the UK so I have to rely on reading about it, would it be fair to say that Zenit are the only real challengers for the title outside of Moscow?

Re: The PES6 Master League Thread

yea, JeffT, true, at the moment Zenit is the only club outside Moscow to challenge for the title in Russia. Actually you can watch it throu the internet. ;)
