Sony PlayStation 4

I wouldn't mind trading places for a few days bsmaff.
Every time I turn my PS4 on I spend the first few minutes stumped what to play first... I want to jump on NBA2K to continue my careers, but then I still want to jump into MLB The Show's careers... Then I have my FIFA manager mode saves to continue.... Then there's battlefield (I'm halfway through the SP campaign) infamous, thief, killzone... And I still have a lot of PS+ content sat unplayed yet. And now I have watchdogs.

PS4 is FAR from having 'no games'. It just has nothing that 'you're interested in playing' yet.

Agreed. I'm on the XB1 more lately due to family reasons but anybody who says there are no games to play gets on my tits. What an absolute stupid thing to say. No offence to anybody but I've read so many people saying it and it really is a laughable comment.

To be fair when people say there is no games. What they really mean is there is no games they like. Well that's how I put it when I say it.

Nothing about a Wii-U appeals to me in any sense. Don't think I've seen a Nintendo exclusive game in the past 15+ years that I've been inclined to play either TBH.

Say that then! If there's nothing I like, I don't buy one until there's something I like. Daft getting one otherwise.

People tend to get one in the hopes that something copol will eventually come out lol.

i got it because i wanted to play next gen fifa.

I am happy to play just that game until new games come out

So maybe you will get Fifa 12 this year???? :P

In all honesty, I very much prefer Wii U's games at this point.

Yep, I'd go with that although the Wii U has been out longer so is more established. At the same point in the PS4's life, I imagine the PS4 will likely have some great games but not too much out right now.

Last of Us PS4 rumored to be released next week, just after E3! :D

Nice. What a treat that'll be for people who haven't played it yet. No word on a discount for PS3 owners of the game, then.

Sony are the masters of marketing the idea of a game and then getting their consumers to wait, and wait, and wait.... sometimes the game delivers, sometimes it doesn't.

But no one confidently sells bullshots like Sony at E3.

That's the risk you run when being a company that harbours, nurtures and encourages interesting and ambitious game ideas. Sometimes the ambitions aren't met, or take a long time to be realised; but at least they're there to begin with, which is why I just can't get excited about the idea of owning a MS console.

Excellent news :)

Ok, so I've come across another issue and I'm wondering if you'd be able to advise once more please?

I recently swapped out my 2TB drive (connected up exactly like your setup) for a 6TB drive. Again, I connected the new drive exactly as you've instructed, double and triple checked that all the connections are properly in place, nothing is loose etc.

I successfully managed to re-install the firmware to this 6TB drive, several times. But it will never boot up. No matter what I try.

I can confirm the firmware was installed successfully, by plugging in both drives (2TB and 6TB) into Windows. Going to disk management there, shows me that the PS4 has formatted and partitioned both drives perfectly and identically.

The PS4 makes the following partitions on both drives, in this exact order -

1GB, 16GB, (remaining space), 8GB, 1GB, 1GB, 1GB, 1GB, 8GB, 512MB, 1GB, 16MB, 128MB, 1GB and 6GB.

As I've said, the above partition identically appears on both drives. The only difference being remaining space, which naturally would be different.

On the 6TB drive, it even shows 5543GB under remaiming space.

So the PS4 has detected and formatted the 6TB drive correctly. I'm unsure as to why it won't boot from this drive, when the 2TB drive was working perfectly.

Any ideas?

Maybe the PS4's bus won't support a drive that big?

I figured it out, it was a handshaking issue, similar to that of the Spinpoint M9T drives.

Basically, the drive needs a bit more time to boot up, so rather than starting the PS4 normally, I just have to hold down the power button for 6 seconds, just before it does the 2nd beep, and it will boot up fine.

Just finished setting up the system, got almost 5400GB of total free space. Couple of images below, if anyone wants to be brave enough..

You took the bait and washed it down with a spot on reply.

Well, it's a bit of a baitsome reply too - it's not as if MS's exclusive list is utterly uninspiring or solely occupied by braindead hoo-ra shooters, but it does reflect how I perceive the two companies, culturally. I'd far sooner see Ico studios trying their hardest to make something that, if it works, will be remembered fondly for far longer than it takes to make, than have that creative spirit curtailed for the sake of shipping a solid, generic product that's guaranteed to sell because countless similar titles did commercially well in the past. It’s a lot harder to accomplish something nobody’s ever done before.

I'm with Romagnoli in this. Fumito Ueda risked everything and maybe they will have nothing at the end. But they risked everything and did Ico and Shadow of the Colossus before. Regarding Microsoft, I can't list any title that lives in my memory as vividly as those two.

It may be down to the style of gamer you are. Personally I enjoy experiences like Heavy Rain, Journey, Shadow of the Colossus, Little big planet or even Catherine. Projects that push the creative bounds beyond, while I don't enjoy that much shooters or games that don't bring much new to the table.

And to achieve this you need a lot of risk and a lot of good marketing as well. Marekting is not good or bad, it depends on the product and how you use it.

Completely agree. This is one of the reasons I made the switch from 360 to PS3 a few years back. Even the big heavyweight PS3 franchises like Uncharted, to some degree, put heavy emphasis on story telling and the single player experience. This then blossomed into the creation of The Last of Us.

Before MGS5, Hideo Kojima's console of choice was always the Playstation - which in a way relates to the last few posts.

Like a man jizzing into a supermarket till, I've come into some money, and am thinking of getting a PS4. I've seen a PS4 + AC4 for £329.99, or with Infamous for £340. Anyone know of a deal that tops that? Seems pretty good to me, even if I sold Infamous it'd essentially be a PS4 for £300-310, which is roughly how much a second hand console would be. Not sure how long the deal will be around for so might go for it tonight...
