It still annoys me a little that the PS4 can't play media formats and media types invented 15 years ago, but hopefully this will come in on 1.80 update and since they now have the PS4 pad working on the PS3, hopefully they will add PS3 controller support to PS4.

I reckon I may keep it this time, but then I am sure something new will piss me off with it in the next couple of weeks.

I will also give away my day one pre-order codes when I get it, as the pre-order stuff is a basically getting a free action replay cartridge for the game.

I was going to explain, but I just saw you tried it first! Arcade versus with firneds (or your kids) could be very fun. I play alone as my wife don't like this one.

So, tell me... is this as fun as it seems played in group?

By the way, going to try the plex media server for ps4, I needed to watch things on my console!

I was one of the early adopters and picked one up with fifa14 and killzone...killzones a nice tech demo but has poor check point pacing and generic gameplay(a hallmark of the series)..also felt the dead zone issues with the pad were still a factor and the pad was still to long(personel preference).They also cook and get red hot and I was convinced it wouldn't last more then a year.

Sold it as a needed a new mixer,and picked up a Xboxone console only for 140 quid on eBay and a pad and official psu from ms.

Personely prefer the Xbox pad and I had a hoot on titanfall.

For what are both just mid spec pcs,if you can pick up one cheap or are prepared to wait for some better games there not a bad purchase.

Naturally the frame buffering issues caused by the esram bottleneck meaning you get the higher resolution on most ps4 games but the differences are negligible on any tv less then 40 inches with multi platform games.

Ultimetly it boils down to your favourite pad and online service and last gen I had both.Out of the two I still prefer the xboxone,but again it's about personel choice.
 
Yes I am on my 3rd PS4, or technically my 5th as bought 2 on launch which I sold on.

Will prob keep it now as loving Plex, but still an option the PS4 should have out the box.

Plex is really good, you can stream media to any device.
I have it now on PS4, iPad, iPhone and bought a Now TV box for the bedroom to access the media centre from that.

Mate, you should really look for some professional help... Buying 3 PS4´s in less than 8 months can´t be normal.

I've got a PS4 heading my way. Or I've just lost £285 on eBay. Or both, depending on your point of view.

Is there enough on the PS store for me to be getting on with (free / dirt cheap)? I probably won't be able to play too much of it (if any) over the weekend anyway.

Also - Watch Dogs (£36) or Infamous (£26)? Or Killzone (£16!)?

Cool. My prices were 2nd hand - just very briefly researched on Amazon!

I'll probably get one at a time. Dunno what the state of them is like post-patches, especially Watch Dogs. I do like Killzone's MP but find the SP really mediocre; Infamous is meant to be the showcase which I can imagine looking ridiculously good on my projector.

ALSO - Season passes. Does KZ use online passes? Thereby making it £22.50 or so to play online? If so, then, noooope.
 
Aha I assumed for some reason those prices were PSN digital downloads or something!

Infamous looks great visually but is IMO really, really boring, having said that of course I haven't played it but the previous ones I found boring, will try it when it's free on PSN+

Watch Dogs I believe is pretty stable on console, it's the PC version that's a bit iffy performance/stability wise but then we're trying to mod the hell out of it to unlock all the extra visuals! :)

If money isn't an issue, I'd get Watch Dogs out of the three, though all them are disappointing.
 
I say go for watchdogs and the free monthly psn games are with a look

The library is just not big enough atm

I must say I am enjoying the free ps3 games, I downloaded the puppeteer and playing it regularly. What a magnificent little game and very well written.
 
Wolfenstein is a great shooter, all about the story mode no online mode but a good shooter. NBA 2k14 is recommended too.
 
Thanks for the tips all. Afraid to say I went with Killzone and Infamous in the end - I accepted that no game was going to be particularly mindblowing at this stage, so I may as well get my graphics fix out of the way.

Not really played much of either - only had about 6 hours with the console in total thus far - but god it does all look good. I'm only as far as some mission in space in KZ, and I've only just got into Seattle in Infamous. It all seems entertaining enough, and the graphics haven't really lost their novelty yet so I'm pretty happy.

I'm more interested in playing Child Of Light when I get manage to get back on, to be honest. I'm really tempted to just go ahead and get TLoU in spite of already having it on PS3, too - while I'm not so interested in GTA5 or Tomb Raider remakes, I'd very happily throw more money at something which represents what I think games should aspire to in terms of story and character depth.
 
I feel exactly the same about TLoU. I rarely play a game twice anymore but I'm considering it with TLoU.

Also, I gave up on Killzone after only the 3-4 mission, so I might go back to it now. What's Child of Light?

It's a side-scrolling RPG with a distinctive fairytale storybook look and feel; the battles are standard Final Fantasy fare but it's all quite charming. Still only played a bit but it's a nice alternative to the other games I have.

Yep I almost never play a game more than once, but was happy to do so for Tombraider doubledipping the PS4 version and happy to do the same for The Last of Us, ordered it yonks ago :)
 
Agree, the only way this thing work is with a subscription like Netflix. Only an idiot would pay that much to play streamed PS3 games.
 
Hey, have sony released the update that allows the PS4 to play movies, songs and such yet??

I'm moving soon and wanted the PS4 to be my house warming gift, but this decides a lot on if its only gaming or can I use it for other entertainment like the PS3.

Not in the sense it used too, but you can use Plex on it which is a solution.

But in the way you want to use it the PS4 is shite... It is pretty much just a gaming machine.
