Sony PlayStation 4

Like a man jizzing into a supermarket till, I've come into some money, and am thinking of getting a PS4. I've seen a PS4 + AC4 for £329.99, or with Infamous for £340. Anyone know of a deal that tops that? Seems pretty good to me, even if I sold Infamous it'd essentially be a PS4 for £300-310, which is roughly how much a second hand console would be. Not sure how long the deal will be around for so might go for it tonight...

Just do it, you are going to end up with one anyway.

I would wait until Christmas, I know seems a long way off but bundles will be better and there will be a lot more games available.

There is no exclusive games as such till next year, so I would hold off until the new FIFA and other games you actually want come out.
The Order and Arkham Knight wont be coming till next year, so not really worth owning a next gen system till then.

But I wouldn't really take my advice, I sold my PS4 after owning it for a couple of months as it was a complete turd and waste of money.

Yeah, probably will. The only thing possibly holding me back is the chance of any price drops or hardware revisions that improve longevity, but I doubt any of those will happen this year. I do worry ever so slightly about the mixed messages around fan noise, it seems like people's experiences are pretty random. Then again, I doubt I'd hear it over the sound of the projector I picked up last week!

So - Infamous or AC4? I'm leaning towards Infamous, given it's meant to be a beauty. Might go for Killzone to get the obligatory FPS action out of my system, or read up on some of these betas knocking around...

I've been tempted by similar deals but I'm going to wait until the fall to finally pick up a PS4. There won't be any price drops for at least another year but there may be some internal revisions to the hardware between now and autumn that make it more efficient and reliable. Same goes for the DS4 thumbsticks. There will also be games I'm actually interested in such as Project Cars and the new football games.

I've played my ps4 almost daily since launch and my thumbs ticks are still perfect. My brothers started to tear a little within a few weeks of launch. Really odd.

That is odd.

In other news:))

The thumb sticks of both my 2 controlles have started to peel off already... Granted I've played a lot at certian times since November, but still...

FIFA 15 being NG on PC has thrown a spanner in my works regarding PS4, was certain to get it Septemberish for that.

DLNA still not available either.

I've owned 4 DS4s and on two of them the left stick rubber wore down to the plastic.

I've just checked the PS plus games I downloaded and can't launch them as it says they have expired!

Resogun, outlast etc.

Is that to be expected?

Mine runs out in about 25 days. I was hoping Sony would announce another deal as they have the past few E3 weeks.... But nothing so far. Maybe because it's a requirement for online play on ps4 ?

Anyone know the cheapest (and trustworthy) place to get a 12 months?

Few options:

G2a https://www.g2a.com/playstation-plus-365-days-card-psn-uk.html £33.51

Found a discount code for G2a LIRIK saves 5% on all purchases so the PSN+ is only £32.50 now!

Off gamers http://www.offgamers.com/playstatio...um=txt&utm_content=psn-usd50&utm_campaign=SEO £32.58 if paying by Paypal, 9p cheaper if using credit card

CEX https://uk.webuy.com/product.php?sku=711719262732#.U53Mh-jQAct £34.50

I've used G2a numerous times so can vouch for their reliability etc etc I have an affiliate link if you do buy from there: https://www.g2a.com/r/placebo

Hmm don't look appealing to me, I think they'd offer very little friction, I like the nobbly rubber ones ;)

I've had a PS4 for a few months and played on it once due to only having Killzone and being skint.

Are there any demos worth looking at or free to play games that'll keep me occupied for a bit?

From the 'free to play' games that I've played....

War frame is decent. It needs an update once you load the game that takes ages but once done and you're in its all pretty solid. It's not something I've played lots of but for free it's not bad. It does a very poor job if explaining everything though so you might need to check its wiki for tips starting.

Black light retribution. It's okay. I played it a few times but didn't really fall in love with it. Worth a look.

The ww2 style plane one - I forget its name.
I hated it. It's just so slow flying around and seems to be very heavily geared towards you buying upgrades etc with money. I could be wrong, maybe it's possible to play without spending anything but I just found it too dull.

Demos I'm not sure of anything you can get a good play out of. Did they ever do a demo for NBA2K? I know there's a demo for the EA game but I've read its poor.

With my PS3 coming to RLOD the other day and not being arsed to fix it for the 3rd time, I decided that I would get a PS4 again as basically crap excuse to play The Last of Us again + looked into the whole Plex situation.

I must say Plex is much better graphically than PS3 Media Server, it needs to have it's own app on the PS4 but the web browser works just as well for it.
Since it is the first time I have ever looked into Plex the media capabilities is really good as you can play any type of media file you wish as the PC your running it off converts the file on the fly to allow the PS4 to play.
As a work around it really does do a very good job, and if anyone has doubts about buying a PS4 for the reasons I always hated mine it really is a useful tool for the time being.

It still annoys me a little that the PS4 can't play media formats and media types invented 15 years ago, but hopefully this will come in on 1.80 update and since they now have the PS4 pad working on the PS3, hopefully they will add PS3 controller support to PS4.

I reckon I may keep it this time, but then I am sure something new will piss me off with it in the next couple of weeks.

I will also give away my day one pre-order codes when I get it, as the pre-order stuff is a basically getting a free action replay cartridge for the game.

PS Plus value keeps rocketing. Was wondering to buy Towerfall months ago to play casual matches with friends. Now I have it for free. Thanks Sony!
