Sony PlayStation 4

All of which are also available for other systems.

But my biggest problem with the PS4 is lack of media support, the PS4 really is the most disappointing console I have ever purchased.

No games, no media playback - it's no wonder my PS4 is sat in a cupboard with the PS3 still taking the space under the TV.

It's essentially the same with every console the first year.

PS4 has an exclusive game that no other next gen console or PC has and I'm really enjoying it having never played one of the series before, so that already makes it worthwhile for me :)

As were Fifa14, Tomb Raider and AC4 but I thoroughly enjoyed playing them on my PS4 :)

FIFA 14 is different on Next Gen consoles and improved over previous gen.

Tomb Raider and AC4 are identical apart from slightly improved visuals, but I have my PC for these reasons.

I am just really bitter that the PS4 has not had DLNA support or at least able to play .mpg or .mp4 files, so you can plug in an external HD but the PS4 can't. I just love my PS3 with PS3 media server too much I guess.

Isn't that surely on the way though Bsmaff? I can't believe they won't add the ability to play MP4 files at some stage.

I wouldn't mind trading places for a few days bsmaff.
Every time I turn my PS4 on I spend the first few minutes stumped what to play first... I want to jump on NBA2K to continue my careers, but then I still want to jump into MLB The Show's careers... Then I have my FIFA manager mode saves to continue.... Then there's battlefield (I'm halfway through the SP campaign) infamous, thief, killzone... And I still have a lot of PS+ content sat unplayed yet. And now I have watchdogs.

PS4 is FAR from having 'no games'. It just has nothing that 'you're interested in playing' yet.

Did you try to set it to stand by or shutdown completely?

Definitely remove everything and reattach to make sure it's connected ok, did you do it the same way as me with the little female/male converter board or just with cables? It needs a power SATA cable plugged into the PS4 even if that doesn't connect to the hard drive (assuming your hard drive is externally powered).

Yep, did it the exact same setup as you. I think it might have been an isolated issue. Did the reinstall again and everything seems to be smooth now. Been gaming a few hours and did a full power off several times to test, all good so far.

PS4 is now on eBay and Gumtree.

Decided to just cut my loses and get rid, maybe in a years time when a couple of games come out for it or they actually allow you to play more media I may get another one.

Sold my PS4 tonight.

Got £300 including FIFA so got back what I paid for it, will now wait until DLNA support is available.

DLNA support is coming in an update next week! Lol

DLNA support was coming very soon in November, it is now June.
The Sony president just made a comment because of the backlash when the system arrived and it wasn't supported, if they were going to add DLNA support it would of been done by now.
It seriously can not be too hard to add a few codecs to a firmware.

You're confusing something being hard to do with being prioritised to be next on the list of things to do. Fact is there's no real reason to rush it through ahead of the year's worth of changes and additions already budgeted and planned for, in addition to fixing serious technical issues that may be impacting certain users. It's not exactly impacting on sales, is it?

All this aside from there being far more to streaming files wirelessly than adding a few codecs to a firmware. And ignoring that Sony will probably want to, you know, test it rigorously to make sure it works robustly and doesn't cause more problems which cost more time and money to fix.

The console's been out for barely 6 months and because something hasn't come immediately, you think it never will. And people thought the MTV generation had short attention spans...

Trine 2 is available on PS+ for PS4 this month. Anyone who didn't play that game yet, try it! Awesome game, especially if you play it with friends. I play it on PC, and it's so much fun :)
