Sony PlayStation 4

You should definitely try to avoid spoilers until it comes out then, when I accidentally read about Ellie betraying Joel and killing him I was really sad :(

There must be multiple endings then.. On my play through Joel killed Ellie, it was done in rage as Ellie wouldn't give Joel her beans...

US PS Plus in April:

- Mercenary Kings (PS4)
- Batman: Arkham City (PS3)
- Stealth Inc. A Clone in the Dark (PS3)
- Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse (PS3)
- Velocity Ultra (PS Vita)
- Pixeljunk Monsters Ultimate HD (PS Vita)

Mercenary Kings (PS4) = silly shitty little arcade game that doesn't interest me, but there's always going to be fallow months, first one I won't be downloading even for free :)

Good being fully integrated into the Sony ecosystem when PS+ time rolls around each month!

I hear that, I'm getting the absolute most out of PS Plus seeing as I now own all three systems they cater for. I'm most looking forward to Moto GP on Vita to be honest, it looks pretty decent..

Looking forward to replaying it on ps4 then to get the other ends. I got the Elvis ending on my first play through so will be cool to see what the others are

Why wouldnt you even try it!?

It looks retro, but sounds really deep and has some nice mechanics. I love Metal Slug too, so right up my street - looking forward to it!

If I decide this latest PES patch makes it enjoyable I might just download it even though I have the disc. Lazy bugger that I am.

PS+ really is a great service, which is why I'm really annoyed that we can't change names after all these years. I suppose you can just create a 2nd ID and use that as your primary playing account, while paying for PS+ on your silent, old account; I assume only one of the IDs has to pay for all to have online gaming.

I don't think Placebo was being serious, pboreham. Imagine if you applied that manner of thinking to music, or film. Or people. Or cheese. You'd be missing out on so much that is infinitely better than a hell of a lot of modern dross.

That said, I didn't particularly like scrolling shooters when they weren't retro - not since Bayou Billy (which was actually more of a double dragon clone to be fair) screwed me over by needing a light gun after the first level or two.

So what's the defining game style of this era?

90s maybe the 3D platformer. Sandbox was probably the 2000's. FPS the 2010 + years?

Mercenary kings in 3D would be great but I think destiny will pretty much be that.

I'd swap FPS and sandbox. Halo, Call of Duty, Battlefield etc - those are all FPS titles. Sandbox (sorry, sandPIT) may have also emerged around the same time, but is probably most prevalent now - be it Assassin's Creed, Watchdogs, a Batman game, a Lego game (I think?), Minecraft, No Man's Sky... and we're only going to see more as devs get used to the consoles and their increased RAM.

Otherwise you'd have to say it's the decade of the free-to-play. And I don't particularly want to have to say that...

Open world and HD remakes, maybe...

Bit disappointed with a infamous to be honest, so far the game is beautiful, very fluid, fun to play when zipping around the city, but also so repetitive. I'm only part of the way through but each zone consists of the exact same identical side missions repeated over and over again.

Tell me it gets more varied!

I doubt it.

Feels like it was a PS3 game that they delayed to PS4 just to improve the graphics.

Its everyone's major complaint (no variation) right through to the end, so I wouldnt hold your breath :(

I still will pick this up, but will have to be a cheapie! Just want to see how decent it looks in motion.

It looks stunning mate, yet at the same time, to me, it doesn't feel like a living city, not like GTA does. I don't understand why almost every street corner seems to have a civilian needing healing, or why protesters hang around but ignore the fact that a dude they're protesting about is right in front of them.

It's a missed opportunity IMO. Imagine if this game had the scale of GTA, and you had a safe house where you had to actively keep your identity and hangout a secret. Also, the skills tree is pretty redundant, you choose either good or bad and then have enough easily collectible shards to upgrade everything to maximum with no decisions needing to be made as to what type of abilities you want.

Hmm, I dunno, it's very fluid and still fun, but so far just doesn't seem to have any depth.

Hmmm - its always been my argument about 'next gen'. Every generation, the graphics get better, but the extra power would be better served elsewhere IMO to give us more indepth gameplay that wasnt possible before.

Tis a shame. Its still very early in this gen and generally the signs are exremely encouraging for games to come.
