Sony PlayStation 4

The surround sound on the Sony pulse 7.1 headset is not as good as the Tritton AX pros mate. But those blasted wires and bulkiness were just too much for me.

I have a big lounge and my kids running around meant it was only used when they were all tucked in.

The pulse is much much easier to manage being wireless and the sound controls are on the headset rather than the thingy attached to the wire.

This was my biggest reason for changing. I can't say I miss my Trittons as the pulse headset delivers enough to keep me happy albeit slightly inferior in the sound department. So to answer your question the surround sound or depth of sound is not as good but good enough

Thanks bud, that's good to know. The wires are a bit annoying but I sit really close to the TV so it's okay. I think I'll wait until mine properly break down before changing, though who knows how long the loose wire connection might have!

Decided to get Infamous, really enjoying it so far. I'm surprised by how much I'm enjoying the story and acting actually. The game looks absolutely stunning though.

@zee and Dags, did you find with the Sony ones that the surround sound didn't have any sense of distance? For example people have said in reviews that while it's great, if you hear a noise from behind you can't tell if it's off in the distance or right up behind you, which is something you can tell with my Trittons because of the Dolby receiver.

Sorry again to talk about headphones in the PS4 thread, the Sony Golds are officially licenced to PS4 hence my initial question :)

Couldn't tell you much on that side of things to be honest, although I'll edge towards not being able to tell distance too well. Remember these are a £73 headset so won't compete with the quality, more expensive headsets.

As I say though, I think they sound great personally.

Defo gonna get it, not paying £50 for it though. I reckon it will drop pretty quick especially on forums like AVF.

Sorry to just ask on here rather than do my own research (though I have had a bit of a look!), but can anyone tell me what's coming soon on PS4 that's exciting them? It's my birthday in a few weeks and I'm weighing up whether to get a PS4 now, or to get a new bike / music software / holiday spending money and hold out till October (when big hitting games, price drops etc tend to come along). I've not heard much about failure rates so I'm assuming all is well there? I also remember EG saying that PS3 Netflix looked better than the PS4 equivalent, which is an odd one.

If the PS4 could already stream videos from my PC I probably wouldn't even be asking tbh...

Thanks mate, I think I'll try them when I get a new pair. My 720s were around the same price (I can only find the Sony Golds for around £90) so I can't see there being much of a difference. The Sony ones don't have a Dobly receiver, granted, but that's not all brilliant in itself. The Dolby adds space to the sound but with it comes occasional background static and that hollow sound, which I'm not much of a fan of.

As for Infamous, I'm loving it but can't help but feel a tiny bit disappointed at the city itself. I'm too used to GTAV but it's not interactive at all, it doesn't really feel like a city to me. But the gameplay is fun and the graphics are amazing. They're not as sharp as in those screenshots posted earlier but not far off.

Watchdogs in May, and UFC sometime this quarter

I don't see anything remarkable really. Trials Fusion on Apr 15, if you like that series. Maybe Watch Dogs in May... I'm waiting until the fall to grab a PS4 for similar reasons.

Personally, owning both consoles, I'd say hold off on a PS4.

The XBO has a lot of niggles, but I think it *just* edges it purely cos of having the TV through it, its a great system for the front room to do voice commands and jump seemlesly from TV to games, to the web, back to TV and back into your game etc is unique.

BUT... I REALLY like the PS4. The controller is better IMO, the interface is miles better and the whole experience is much nicer than the XBO at the mo.

The big problem... no games. This is my current catalog (all my multiplatforms are on XBO except MGS)

PS4 | XBO
Killzone | Titanfall
MGS | Forza
*Infamous* | Zoo Tycoon
*Knack* | Plants v Zombies GW
| Killer Instinct
| * Ryse *
| * Dead Rising 3 *
================================
Dead Nation | Powerstar Golf
Dont Starve | Peggle 2
Steamworld | Halo Assault
Resogun | Max Curse of Brotherhood

Games in * are ones I dont own, but exclusives.

But from that line up, the XBO is far stronger in terms of depth and playability.

As I say, this isnt PS4 bashing, I'm really happy with the console and of course, over time, it will have a great collection of games - but as it stands RIGHT NOW, save your money till later in the year.

EDIT: Well thats a fucking mess! You get the idea... XBO = more + better games right now! PS4 = overall nicer experience. XBO = probably just edges it due to TV integration and game selection

I personally see no reason why anyone would buy an Xbox one if they are buying just one console, but that's just me.

I am a big gamer, and normally have all consoles there is just nothing at all that makes me want an xbox one.

Not trolling etc, just my genuine take on this gen. i certainly can see the argument in not getting a next gen console now, but FIFA is really magnificent, and as I say am loving infamous and MGS.

Titanfall should!

Forza is probably the best looking next gen game and a great racer, Powerstar Golf is amazing, when it really shouldnt be and PvZ is one of the best shooters I've ever played.

As I say, the ability to pull your TV through and jump around everything, especially if like me, all your games are digital, is very impressive.

The price for this is an inconsistant UI experience which reminds me of the early days of the PS3. The friends list and achievements take a stupidly long time to load to the point where they are avoided, the UI frequently locks up or stops responding and Kinnect is hit and miss (amazing when it works 85% of the time, super annoying when it doesnt).

Its a shame people instantly dismiss the XBO though, it is a great machine with top games at the moment.

I'm not really interested in an Xbox personally. I did have some interest, ironically (given the mass upcry about it being compulsory) because I think Kinect is a great idea just begging to be used properly outside of the party genre. But I don't watch live TV, the PS4 is cheaper and more powerful, and I'm more interested in seeing where Morpheus goes than Kinect (though I expect MS to buy up some VR company soon).

I appreciate the XO's library is probably better right now, but I'd be buying for 6 years+ rather than just now, and I far prefer Sony's culturally diverse range of exclusives to MS's mainstream focused, US-centric space-marines punching things to express themselves. To me, petals flying in the wind, ever-elusive cateagles and dads shouting 'Jason' at balloons feels closer to where games should be headed over the next 10-15 years.

With all the respect, mate, why do you have a PS4 if you buy all the multiplataforms on XBO and you only have one PS4 exclusive????? You say that you REALLY like your PS4 than why buying all multiplataforms for the XBO???

Honestly lots of promises so far but nothing concrete to tell you to move to next gen ASAP. The ps3 is still a better media centre.

Also if you don't get it,now how long before you do? A year might be too long I reckon christmas time be a great time to grab one of they have r resolved the stock issues and by then the other firmware would be out in full force. Streaming, 3D bluray playback etc

Probably Autumn/Winter, I'd have thought Zee. I just need to be able to watch films via Netflix & my PC as I currently can - that's a must for me - and I need the games to be there too. It'll be football game season com October, and there are bound to be a couple of big titles emerging this E3. Those plus a couple of cheap 2nd hand titles and I'll have hit the ground running I reckon...

Agree mate better to wait it out then till there is a bigger library and better functionality. It cant do simple things like MP3 playback yet

I got the xbo a few months before the ps4, so had already got the fifas, cods etc by then. I'll probably weight up each release going forward. I got MGS on ps4 as I think that's more a Sony game and the controller etc feels right for MGS (much like I prefer PES on playstation as I grew with it using that controller and playing it with the xb controller just feels weird!).

KZ is the only exclusive i am (or was, will get infamous) interested in. Knack looks utterly shite!

Really looki forward to Driveclub and will probably get the upcoming Golf Club on PS rather than xbo.

Ok, i got it. Don´t think there are many exclusive games in the near future, i am looking forward to Deep Down but they didn´t give a release date too. I´ll probably buy Watchdogs, Destiny and Diablo 3 when they are releases but they are not exclusives. There are also some interested indies to be released in the meantime.

I've absolutely loved having my PS4, it's beautifully designed, lightning fast, Lovefilm etc work much better on it and I've really enjoyed the games, although I have played a lot of FIFA and BF4 MP which are kind of ongoing games with no real end. If you're not into those then there's not a lot at all.

Infamous is great but looking at the release schedule there doesn't seem to be anything for ages now. Destiny looks brilliant but that doesn't come out until September I think.

I'm similarly enjoying the Xbox One... but after Titanfall (which is really great) there is a similar dearth of interesting releases for it as well until the fall.

I still haven't picked up FIFA 14 (which is weird for me) because I'm not too hot on it missing the creation center ("centre" for you) for career mode. Didn't realize how attached I'd become to my custom uniformed/badged "London FC" and how disinterested in starting up a new CM without my little fictional footy world I made for myself in FIFA 13.

But I'd love to see some digital sales on Battlefield 4 and Forza 5. Those games look great.

Anyways, looking forward to E3 to see what the fall might bring for either console. Hard to not keep going back to the PS3 and Xbox 360. Just discovered the free (on Xbox Live) game "Sleeping Dogs" and it is awesome.

I have less than zero interest in playing a PS1/PS2 game, sure there's a couple of PS3 games I'd be interested in playing but I didn't buy a PS4 to play PS1/2 games!

Nah thats crazy. PS3, sure, but let anything else die - it will be awful!

And by 'support' I'm sure they mean - "the chance to pay for YET again"...

That would be the case yes probably £4.99 to £7.99 for PS1 games and probably £9.99 to £19.99 for PS2 games.

I wish Sony would stop adding shit and just sort out the DLNA support, as this better be available by the Autumn so I can get the PS4 and FIFA 15.
