Sony PlayStation 4

How does the whole recording/sharing thing work?

I only pressed the share button once, then backed out, the next time I checked, I had a fair few things recorded.

So, is it just constantly recording, but just saves the last 15 mins of the gameplay when you hit the share button? What about screenshots?

The light bar doesn't bother me but I don't see the point in it. If Killzone it goes from green to red depending on your health but you can tell on-screen if you've been hit anyways. Who's going to look at the rear of their controller when playing a game anyways?

Is it linked to the PS Eye at all? It looks like the same sort of colour range

The light bar is mostly for the PS Eye I think. Sony should just add an option to reduce the light when it's not needed.

The main reason I'm covering it up is the glare I get off the screen in the darker sections of games and I know it sounds daft but the light shining on my fingers feels weird.

Anyone tried putting decals on before? I like the look of this.

The Order: 1886 studio Ready at Dawn has confirmed that the PS4 action game will not hit 60FPS.

It follows the release of four new The Order: 1886 screens. Hit the link to see them.

Speaking with Play3, studio head Ru Weerasuriya said, “Currently we do not aim [for] 60 frames per second. In a first person shooter that [surely] makes sense. Also fighting games are undoubtedly predestined for 60 frames.

“But for us, the cinematic experience is in the foreground [basically focus] – presented in full HD 1080p. In favor of spectacular effects and the highest resolution we restrict ourselves to a fluid 30 frames per second.”

Thought this was next gen?

If it's 30fps 1080p on the PS4, then it's 10-15fps 720p on xbone ;)

Cute banter

Somebody played the PS+ game Outlast yet? Already played a few minutes but hell, was scared so many times :D

Played it on PC, it is more like Slender than Amnesia.
If you just play it for 15-20 mins you get the whole jist of what the game is about with a lot of jump at you scares but it isn't emotional and psychological scares like Amnesia.

Since it is free on PS+ at the moment there is no harm in trying it, but if it cost money I wouldn't recommend it.

Did anyone download Don't Starve when it was available on PS Plus? I've just got round to playing it and think it's awesome.

Outlast is a pretty f*cking scary game. My heart races every few minutes and I've been cursing like a criminal at my tv for scaring the shit out of me... :) I play in the dark with my dolby headset on, pretty immersive.

Haha same.

I never used to play with a headset, but surround sound is intense.

Yeah it sucks you right in. It's pretty difficult though but good fun nonetheless

Yeah it's well addictive. The longest I've lasted so far is 16 days but there's so much to learn that each time you play through, you feel that little bit more equipped. Then the game throws you a curve ball and something happens you've never seen - like a giant tree getting up and running after me when I'm chopping it down :P

Random question but on some games, when the game moves, the black levels in dark areas on-screen kinda get darker and almost blurry until I stop moving again. Is this something to do with PS4 games? I've never noticed it before.

For example, in Don't Starve, walking across the screen will see trees kinda blur while you're moving and the dark areas in the trees will appear darker until you stop moving.

Likewise, in Battlefield 4 single player, when you move, the grass areas in shadow get much darker while you move then return to normal when you stop. I've never seen this on PS3 but have seen it several times on PS4.

Anyone else see this?

I can't get past day one. Can't find the axe :(

It's worth persevering with, you'll fail a lot and to restart as you learn everything bit by bit with the game providing no hand-holding at all, but each time you restart you know just that little bit more.

I've had to restart probably ten times now but I'm currently on day 10 and already building a farm of sorts. I've seen some people on Live from Playstation streaming their games, on day 500 with huge farms, built houses etc.

I've posted a hint or two if you want it below :)

On day one, just literally gather everything you possibly can, but in particular any berries or carrots, grass, twigs and flint pieces. Once you have a small amount you'll be able to build an axe by using the building menu on the left of the screen. Once you've got the axe, chop down as many trees as you can and hey presto, you have materials to build a fire for the night.

One other thing, always build the fire just before it turns dark, or else it'll be so dark you can't build it as you won't be able to see anything! From there you can keep those basic materials topped up and start to build other stuff like weapons, tools, traps to catch food etc.
