Sony PlayStation 4

Had the ps4 all day today. Very impressed - better "out of the box" experience than the xbo for sure. My first experience of the xbo was a 5 minute hang on a green screen, an age to update and installing games took near an hour.

Ps4 was a breeze to set up, by the time I'd gone through the set up the system update was almost 50% downloaded in the background and games both from the psn store and off disk installed in amazing times.

Very lucky to have both and be able to compare. The UI is a great experience on ps4 compared to xbo too. I do like the kinect stuff and voice commands, but the layout and feel of the new ps interface is lovely.

Just played some killzone with the headphones plugged into the controller - one of my favourite features as my tv doesn't have a headphone socket!

Killzone looks amazing in places. Better than any xbo games? Nah, you'd have to go some to best forza IMO, but you can tell the ps4 is a powerful beast. Will be interested to see how the retail of Titanfall looks and runs.

Only thing missing from ps4 is games!!

I'm loving the PS4 interface, it's all so very quick and streamlined. There aren't that many games out at the moment but there's already a nice mix of big titles and smaller games. And it's already miles ahead of the old consoles in graphics.

Heard alot about Killzone - and the general consensus on AVF is very negative - but I think its awesome.

The graphics are superb on it (not Forza 5 levels, but very 'next-gen') and has lots of lovely little effects and touches to set it apart from a PS3 title.

I'm enjoying it anyways :)

I'm with you on this Paul but not as rash

Ill get one of these eventually but like the XBone the lack of games is shit and frustrating.

Roll on something like Watchdogs coming out to get our teeth stuck into and show off something new on our consoles

I don't understand the negativity about Killzone. The gameplay is run of the mill, but the OWL is great to use and the graphics are beautiful. Multiplayer is very undervalued too IMO. The one criticism I'd say is that the game needed much more open-level design like they did in the forest section early on, which is a fantastic level, but apart from that I don't see how this plays much differently to supposed classics like the Halo series.

Just bought a 2nd hand copy of killzone for £23. Cant argue with that. Got it from games website if anyone is interested.

By the way, Rayman Legends is great fun, highly recommended for £30.

Yea saw KZ in Game yesterday - was odd to see such a jump in price for their games £49.99 new, £22.99 Used. Usually, games like that are £45.99 'used' (joke of a price), so it certainly stood out.

Killzone games always have great graphics but at the end of the day all of them are just trite first person shooters with a crappy plots and characters.

Completed Bioshock infinity on the PS3 this weekend. Was good but not TLOU good imo. The amazing part is people say Bioshock should be GOTY because The Last of Us was not groundbreaking

I wonder where videogaming is heading because truly original IPs dont sell like the regurgitated crap shooters we get year after year

True, the FPS genre does need updating, and you're right on all points, but I do feel KZ gets unfairly treated compared to other franchises. I mentioned Halo before, it's still heralded as a top series of games yet I find it just as trite as other FPS games.

That's rich coming from fans of Bioshock Infinite - a game I have admittedly only just touched, but it is sooooooo old - in spirit - I almost feel like I'm playing the original Doom!

That said, I still think it could be pretty damn good, but that has yet to be decided for me.

I loved the plot of Bioshock Infinite but the game did feel well worn by now. The original Bioshock was original for the time because, like TLOU, it was a jump in storytelling and atmosphere. But yeah for anyone to suggest TLOU isn't groundbreaking seems crazy to me. It's a big leap in terms of storytelling and characterisation. Man, that Giraffe scene gets me every time!

I never saw that scene. She was shouting at me to come and look at something but I was too busy sac aging and crafting. When I caught up it was all over.

Aah the giraffe scene was marvelous. Will stay with me forever much like the pshycho mantis in MGS on the ps1

Getting into Assasins Creed 4 on the PS4 it seemed samey when I started but once you get into the pirate parts is pretty good albeit a bit repetitive

I'm usually pretty anti-remakes generally, but I do hope they make The Last of Us for PS4, with updated graphics, faster loading and the DLC thrown in. There are rumours but not sure if it'll happen, they'll need games like that to push their streaming service when that comes out.

I don't think it will happen TBH, the graphics on The Last of Us is the best available on the PS3 and apart from upgrading the textures on the static backgrounds and changing some of the god awful low res 3D grass textures and adding AA there really isn't much more I think the next gen can add to the game.
It would be very nice if it happened but I seriously doubt it will

or maybe

They could release Last of Us definitive edition and have Ellie's hair blow in the wind and charge £50 for it.

The Last of Us sold so well on PS3 that there's no real need to make it available on PS4 to a smaller market. It'll be streamable at some point, sure - but I don't see a PS4 remake happening. Far better for them to work on something new, isn't it? Otherwise The Last of Us wouldn't have been made in the first place - we'd have seen Uncharted 4 instead.

Every time a genuinely good franchise gets sequelitis (e.g. Assassins Creed), you have to wonder what brilliant game that same studio could have made instead of two of those rehashes.

With tomb raider coming to PS3 PS+ next week, I'm hoping they'll use their brain and offer a next gen upgrade option. Chance to make an extra tenner on the freebie seems like a no brainer

Received my Wireless Headset 2.0 today and got to say I'm very impressed. I'd read comments that people were disappointed with the bass, but I'm a big fan of bass and I've got no issues with it at all. Voices are very clear and the Virtual Surround Sound option sounds great (again, despite complaints).

Works great on the PC too, simple as plugging the dongle in and they work straight away.

Very pleased :)

Which one is that. I have the pulse elite 7.1 and loving it since the last firmware update. Make gaming so much better.

Seems like a good deal. However, I wish Sony's Playstation oriented headphones looked more like this instead of something made for kids.

I've been thinking about getting the Sony Pulse Elites as my Tritton AX720's are gradually going on the blink (occasionally lose sound in one ear until I push the cable back in towards the ear cup) but I'm not sure. I've heard good reviews generally but people also say the directional sound in the 7.1 simulated sound isn't as pronounced as the Trittons (which are Dolby).

So I dunno. Wireless would be nice though.
