Sony PlayStation 3

RESISITANCE: FALL OF MAN What a pile of crap looks like something off the PS2, GTHD is pretty nice though and Motostorm looks nice but get boring really quick.

I love corporate PR shills. Sometimes they say the craziest things. And it's good to see that Sony's PR people are right up there with the craziest of the lot. When quizzed on the wide-spread reports of frequent PS3 demo kiosk freezes, one Sony rep commented that PS3 freeze-ups are actually a planned feature:

"We do that so that people won't play it all day long. Specifically during Motorstorm, we made it freeze up a lot."

Thanks for the laugh, Sony! We owe ya one.

:lmao:

Sony's next product:

The Sony Leakstation
The innovative Condom that'll decide for you when to have STDs/Pregancies

isn't it more like, there are none on the shelves so noone can buy one

Thats a bit surprising. Last I heard Sony were still having trouble re-stocking retail stores.

GUYS! check this site out:

Its a fantastic importer based in America, that is now selling Japanese PS3's for around £387! Its the 60gb model too!

Really is a bargain imo.

Not really, almost every store I have been in has a few PS3's. Sure, the stores like Gamestop and EB Games are out of PS3's but everywhere else has them........

I was surprised too when i was asked in EBGAMES if i wanted one.
I asked the guy why it was sitting there and he told me noone was interested in the $600 price.

Heres a post a i made on cheapassgamer to see if this was happening elsewhere.

The replies shocked me i assumed they weren't available either and were still highly sought after.
At this early stage for them not to be selling on hype alone despite games etc has to be very worrying for Sony

2 months after the Xbox 360 came out you had to look hard to find one.
But a week after christmas and noone is buying the PS3 will ppl ever buy them.

Yeh I agree. The Xbox 360 was extremely difficult to get hold of for around 2-3 months after launch.

I guess its a mixture of high price point and poor games. Theres not really a reason right now to own a PS3. Im sure in 2007 things will change.

Bought a 60Gb PS3 in HK, before Xmas, and was pretty much forced to buy it as a package with 3 games: Resistance, RR7 and Armored Core 4.

I sold AC4 and plan to sell RR7 as they are quite underwhelming. Overall, I have mixed views about the system. here are my comments

Pros:
1) Price only 488USD... affordable
2) Hooked up to a hi def plasma (looks great)
Motorstorm demo is amazingly fun
GT HD demo excellent
F1 demo very good (sense of speed is excellent)
Resistance enjoyable

Cons:
Not sure if this is due to the Taiwan earthquake disrupting internet access to the HK store, but I keep failing to connect to the store. Connecting to the friends list is also temperamental. I downloaded Lemmings, but have to say this whole process needs to be faster and PS3 needs to be able to download stuff in the background (like the Xbox 360 can).
2) Internet browser is slow - anyone else have this problem?
3) Photo album and Music album needs to be able to handle nested folders... otherwise its useless
4) Remote Play works well, but does not allow DVDs played on the PS3 to appear on the PSP. That's pathetic and defeats the purpose of Remote Play for me.
5) No rumble on controllers

But there wasnt any game to buy for the Xbox 360 either Call of Duty 2 = Resistance fall of man etc.
Hype alone should be selling the console right now like it did the Xbox 360.
Micrososft can probably afford a price drop come the winter season 2007 and with sony right now losing $300 per machine sold and $900 when they just sit on shelves it cannot be good for them.

360 Leads Holiday Sales
But Nintendo was right on Microsoft's heels.
by Daemon Hatfield
January 2, 2007 - According to preliminary NPD data, the Xbox 360 was the best-selling console during the holiday season in the U.S. CNBC is reporting that Americans picked up two million units of Microsoft's system during the period.

But Nintendo was not far behind. In spite of limited availability, the Wii sold 1.8 million units from its launch until December 25. Sony only moved approximately 750,000 units of the PlayStation 3, due to manufacturing problems and decreased demand. Over the holidays, IGN repeatedly found PS3s available at retailers while no Wiis were in sight. The price of a PS3 on eBay has also dropped to around its MSRP, while the Wii is still selling for over twice its retail price.

NPD expects to release complete sales data for the holiday season later this month.

From USA friends they tell me there is PS3s freely available now. Looks good for March launch in UK then?

yeah I've seen PS3's all the time but NO Wii's...

Funny though as the PS3 AND Wii have like NO games worth buying with thwem at the moment either.

Tis on Cube though, and yes it's a great game, but you dont need a Wii to play it....

i think sony should have released a dual shock pad for the ps3. The tilt thing i cant see it taking off at all. Maybe on the wii but not on the ps3. I suppose only time will tell. But if i do get a ps3 i will miss the force feedback thing. It does add to the game imo, specially subconciously like in games like silent hill/resi evil etc.

Personally i see the tilt thing more of a short term gimmick - like the bazooka for n64 or other light guns on other consoles. Where as the rumble feature is in nearly every game you play on now a days.

I think its different for nintendo, as they are taking gaming in a different direction - not sure a better direction, but a different one, which is good (more variety :) ), and are seeming like they are going to base the consoles around the wierd joypad thing.
