Sony PlayStation 3

omg, this is awful :(

apparently my manager found out late last night. Crazy stuff.

Dont really care now, as im gonna pick up a Japanese one.

it's funny how it will be delayed until the same time as they normally release in europe for the previous units.

usa and japan will still launch in november as usual?

i think this was the plan all along.

they were giving europeans a bit of bull to make them anticipate the console release.

That is very good news for Microsoft and Nintendo, Sony will have to come up with something very good to get the european gamers back next year, especially now that they lost exclusive games they had before like GTA and PES.

If they keep to the price of 600 Euro in March, and the Xbox360 will cost about 350, i wouldnt know why i should buy a ps3. Sony is really messing up here imo.

The PSP was released 10 months in Europe after the US launch, they may launch in March, but units will be rarer than Hen's Teeth. I think they will be getting caned by the software houses now though, esp companies who have been trying to get a launch line up for them, only for them to miss out on the European Christmas booster...........

Im delighted with this news! They always do it what did anyone expect? They did it with the PSP as Holio mentioned and then we had a shortage of them. It will be the same come March next year.

I can see the Nintendo advertising gurus rubbing their hands together and laughing all the way to be bank.

**Fade In** Queue 4 angelic faces outside a front door on a snowy evening, one is holding a lantern, they ring the doorbell. Then as one they sing "Wii wish you a Merry Christmas, Wii wish you a Merry Christmas, Wii wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. **Fade to the Nintendo Logo**"

:D

Lol@ LemonJelly

But, if it goes like the PSP, the ps3 will sell out badly in USA and Japan, so Sony will ship every unit made there and delay European launch till the summer...

I see that this morning and isn't a problem for me, because first PS3 game i want to buy is Virtua Tennis 3 out in March

well it's a bad for a good, PS3 in 2007 = new processor and more choice for TVHD with HDMI 1.3 (no yet announced)

not suprised at all!

microsoft tried worldwide launch and failed. nobody in there right mind actually believed Sony was gonna be able to pull it off. great news for nintendo!

Japanese Machines are gonna be going for silly money as the stock is still gonna be so limited.

Define a failure please.

The Launch had problems for Microsoft, however they achieved exactly what they set out to do. The aim was to launch in all major territories within 3 weeks of each other, that they did. And it was a success. I had my machine a week after the US, many many others did as well.

I would rather fight the crowds for a machine during a global launch than get shafted AGAIN by Sony and have to wait until March.

Holio, we were right mate.

TG you should be commended on being able to put a positive spin on absolutely EVERYTHING Sony does. Sony have, and always will shaft Europe during a console launch. How some people can tolerate this time and time again is beyond me.

MS actually did very well from their worldwide launch! its the first time they have tried to do one and considering stock shortages etc I thought they did a grand job, to release it on 22nd November in USA and then to release in Europe only 2 weeks later was a job well done.

Sony always seem to screw Europe thats one of the reasons why I boycotted Sony after waiting so long for the PSP.

LemonJelly, For me isn't a problem, but Sony lose christmas in Europe.

You are damn right they will. They launch the console just before the summer games drought, not a very bright idea.

Yeah not much point getting a ps3 imo. The killer games like PES, GTA, MGS wont be out yet. Wouldnt it be great if no-one would buy it yet, and wait for a pricedrop to a realistic price? (not that it would ever happen with all the fanboys, people really should be more critical like LemonJelly said, and not take everything Sony does, unfortunately most people buy into the Sony hyping machine, at wich granted they are very good)

For those wanting a machine it's bad news, and shameless that Europe is again shafted while Japan and America get their on time. However, and this is purely a personal thing, it might mean a better library of games is available when it does finally go on sale here. There is nothing on the launch list worth buying so it's no big deal.

I think I'm essentially the same as TG, and I wish people would stop having digs at his 'fanboyism'. So he's a Sony fan, who gives a toss? It's a PS3 topic, he's acknowledged Sony will lose out in the Christmas sales, but this news doesn't affect him.

I have heard alot of problems, but I didnt like to post incase I was flamed about being anti-Sony. The chip production had got better but it wasnt still making enough usuable chips, but have also been told that they are having alot of problems getting the blue diodes needed for the Blu-Ray, now I dont have any sources, just from people with in the industry. I know alot of it could be horse shit and wont stand by it in court, but with the the information that is coming out now, it could well have some truth in it.

Doh, should of read the press release!!! Sorry............

No choice, that all
it's like that for all Blu Ray and HD-DVD lasers :(

I think this is probably for the best (in my case anyway). Cuz all the launch games are kinda crap IMO and I know I would have got console on launch for the sake of having it.
Now I could spend my £500 I saved up, and also buy the console later alongside the better PS3 games. I should have done the same thing with the X360 so I'm glad I'm not falling for it again.

The delayed launch means absolutely awesome launch games.

IMO Wii was gonna own xmas anyway, now it defo will.

Anyone here think it will be released in Sept 07? Got a feeling it will mirror the PSP like Holio mentioned.

I personally am not buying one HOWEVER the push back is good. the luanch list will be better but again it's kinda bad for right now. You see EAsports had about 4 titles that are now not pushed back mind you but ultimately not going to sell anymore that say what? 400,000 copies? It's step that sony had to do in order to at least have some o fthe development time put into to luanch releases to put out whatver they could by nov but ultimately sony srewd a few developers out of alot more sales then before. The guarnetee is less now.

yeh I can imagine the developers being miffed about it, but at the same time they will have loads of time with finalised hardware to make better games.

People need to remember PS2's still outsell the 360 so Sony will still makes loads of money this xmas.

Must be embarassing for the game retailers. A few of the employers have been bigging it up as the console to have this coming Xmas....now Sony potentially will miss out on two Xmas' - combine that with an overly inflated price may make it mission impossible.

All this stuff about game developers having more time to make better games is a little bit optimistic tbh... sadly corporate culture is all about the money and reaching financial targets.

LOL great launch titles. And by the time it comes out the 360 will be on it's 3rd wave of games the launch titles should be good as it was supposed to release Spring 2006 and the earliest it will launch is Spring 2007. Personaly I can't see any positive spin Sony can put on this. It's a complete shambles. And those hoping to Import a console , it's not going to happen the launch numbers are miniscule to say the least and I very much doubt Sony will even meet those targets with all the current problems sourcing parts, so they will no doubt be snapped up by the natives. All in all the 360 will have a massive headstart in Europe now and even the USA, crimbo is the biggest sales time of the year and launching in Spring is going to alienate loads of potential buyers. Little Johnny may be able to squeeze a PS3 out at crimbo but March? No chance.
