I still cant beleibe the price, how can they expect a normal person who's on £12,000 a year to afford almost half a months wage for their console?

This doesnt apply to me because if i really wanted it, id buy it but £400+ really is a kick in the teeth for the casual gamer imo

You could almost buy both the 360 and Wii for the same price, which is a no brainer imo

at 12,000 a year, gaming would not be my priority.

Interesting, since I came to my conclusion of it not looking any better by doing the same only I used component connections and forced my HDTV to 480i

Explain how you did it to me. Because when you force your TV to 480i, it will still rescale the image to the resolution of your TV.

Not on all HDTV's. What you are refering to is the native resolution, which is the way most cheap HDTV's work and all LCD's work. CRT HDTV's can display in each resolution as they normally do not have a fixed/native resolution. ;)

I have to say though - 425 pounds is really steep. That is approx. $800. + $200 than us. You gys are getting screwed but isn't it always like this especially at luanch?

I thought you where talking about LCD/Plasma/RPTV HDTV because here in UK, there is no proper HD CRT that can display 720p without scaling.

Of course it wouldnt be priority but its what a lot of people are on mate, and surely they have to have some kind of entertainment at home?

While i know this isnt Sony's concern i feel theyre pricing a lot of people out of having their machine, i could afford £400 but theres no way im spending that on what basically is a PS2 with nicer graphics, oh yeah and a stupid joypad

Yeah exactly.

Im sure people can put £50 aside for the next 6months, then add the extra when the machine comes out.

Thats what Im doing anyway ;)

Im on double that and even I wont get a PS3 straight away unless some games I really want to get (that arent on 360) come out. So at the mo thats only The Getaway 3 and F1 07... (Hopefully them twats make a decent F1 game!!)

SONY open to mod scene

In an intriguing turn of events, Sony executive Izumi Kawanishi has illuminated some of his company's PlayStation 3 Linux plans, indicating that it will be possible for individual 'homebrew' coders to create playable content for PS3, something actively blocked for Sony's PSP handheld.

In comments made to Japanese game website Impress Watch, and translated by GameSetWatch contributor Shou Suzuki, Kawanishi noted: "Because we have plans for having Linux on board [the PS3], we also recognize Linux programming activities... Other than game studios tied to official developer licenses, we'd like to see various individuals participate in content creation for the PS3."

It seems that Sony is happy to let basic application and game construction take place without access to the extremely sophisticated rendering and physics libraries available to licensors - Kawanishi further commented: "When a game studio enacts development on a PS3 by entering a license contract, SDK libraries... will be presented, and various technical support given. In contrast, when using Linux World on the PS3... support will fall to the lowest level required, and you must solve and work on things by yourselves."

Sony has previously made a Linux kit available with the PlayStation 2, but it is unclear whether any code created using PlayStation 3 and Linux will be freely spreadable and runnable via memory cards.

Additionally, Sony has not yet commented on whether it will only be possible to distribute this content via some kind of Sony-regulated online server, or only to fellow Linux coders, as was the case for PlayStation 2 Linux, which spawned a number of homebrew games. More information on the Linux coding opportunities for PS3 are likely to surface over the next few months, however.

People complaining about the costs, why don't you get a interest free 9 moths bla bla credit card :)

Why are ppl complaining about the price. If u can't afford one or just don't want one then don't buy it. Its not a major loss to me or anyone else if u don't get one, all it means is there will be more to buy at launch. Just keep this information to yourself, cos i/we honestly couldn't care less!!

Play France suck! they have to steal Ridge Racers music for their intro video!!

Dont be a dick all of your life mate.

I was simply stating £400+ is a lot for a console, a price that will outprice some real Sony fans.

I couldnt give two fucks if you care what i post, ill post anything i like if its on topic

The game looks like good fun, I don't understand why people were giving it stick.

Don't get me wrong....it does look fun and quite enjoyable. The graphics do look v good but when you've been fed with images like this:

You just cannot help but feel a bit cussed. In fact, after watching those early vids I was more than certain to get the PS3 (regardless of price). Now - after E3 - I feel like I was played by the Sony hype machine :( :(

There is another aspect missing which is so important with a decent rally game.....rumble feedback :(

I was thinking the same thing when watching the video regarding the rumble, this is the kind of game when the rumble feature comes into its own and will be sorley missed, I totally get you about the difference in graphics also but the game still looks good and looks fun I really want a similar game for my 360.

I didn't see that screnshot, thanks a lot RK :applause: \\:o/ :(

And also, I assume taht rally Impreza car screenie we saw was a pre rendered one as well.

  After that the only race he'll be participating in will be the one in an abulance racing to the hospital , BTW that vid looks not too far off from the pic posted above by "RockyKabir", maybe the latter is a bit more colourfull, which makes it IMO a little bit less realistic than the former. think FNR3 and TS2 ;)
