Sony PlayStation 3

Re: PlayStation 3 - Official Thread

We have seen with Oblivion on the 360 how important coding efficiency can be. Here you have a next gen console already pushed to its limits. When you are riding around, the framerate skips due to data loading - and in many ways can ruin the gameplay :(

High data just encourages lazy developers with bloaty coding. That is not to say the BluRay is a bad thing - but you'd think that you will need a GPU/CPU with a processing power that is equal to the ratio of the capacity between conventional DVDs and Blu-Rays.

I'm looking forward to E3 as I can be completely wrong in all this :D

Actually I disagree with that statement. Oblivion does not in anyway push the 360 to the limit. I am sure the developers would be the first to tell you that they can improve performance for their next game. It takes time to learn how to take advantage of the hardware. If anything, the stuttering is microsofts fault for introducing the STUPID Core system without the hard drive. That was a big mistake in my opinion.

First party exclusive games will be more important than ever if there is going to be a "winner" of this generation.

Have to say the magazine screens of Heavenly Sword still look amazing, we'll see a new vid next week and it should also be playable along with Resistance.

So that must be why the solution (to the bad loading and stuttering) Bethesda gave to gamers was to hold A as the game starts to clear the data cache on the HDD because it becomes overly fragmented..........

That has nothing to do with the CORE system.

Re: PlayStation 3 - Official Thread

tbh I've only seen the game on the gametrailers.com review and the stuttering looked bad. I can only see "data loading" at the bottom of the game screen.

So is there really a difference between using a hard drive and not? I would have thought that Gametrailers.com would have used a premium pack

Re: PlayStation 3 - Official Thread

The difference is that, when using the HDD, after a couple hours of play the data cache on the HDD becomes very fragmented; which causes the game to load slower and cause stuttering. Its neither Bethesda or M$'s fault as HDD files will always become fragmented when they are constantly accessed and changed.

Same bar GT, I can't see it being amazing bar the graphics, if the gameplay has changed/evolved then thats good.

Also SPIDERMAN 3- Imagine swinging around in HD and 5.1 :)
Matrix - If it has gameplay like Path of Neo it should be good, but this time with great graphics

Re: PlayStation 3 - Official Thread

It appears the minus'es are infact probable games that will be shown.

Re: PlayStation 3 - Official Thread

No Next Gen Pro Evo, whats that about? Its only on PS2 PSP :( I hope the xbox one is 360 and not original xbox.

EDIT: Just seen it on the probable list so lets hope it shows. I actually a bit concerned at the lack of confirmed PS3 titles, makes you wonder if they are behind schedule considering the console is due for release in 6 months.

I think it will actually more interesting to see if the Batarang will have changed?

Re: PlayStation 3 - Official Thread

Very nice indeed. They look like mockups using the game engine rather than screen shots. The graphics are great though.
