Sony PlayStation 3

Re: PlayStation 3 - Official Thread

They wont be doing themselves too many favours if the price is as high as $600-700! I dont think too many people will have that sort of money to splash out just on a Games Console! the Xbox 360 was only $350 to $400.

Re: PlayStation 3 - Official Thread

nice find as always TG :applause:
but i dont like the fact that he says "with motorstorm we didn't show the game, we just showed the technology but you could see the underyning deformation systems, which is key to that. so come E3, i think it will be there".....
Basically "if the game is not as good as the videos shown last year, we didn't say it'll be", that just made me think for a bit, if the PS3 will be any different from the 360

Re: PlayStation 3 - Official Thread

OH!!! my bad....stupid me... i watched both videos, (E3 one and GDC one of motorstorm) so i thought he was refering to the last year's E3 one not being the actual game shown or a video replica.
:bomb:*Hides under the table*

Thnx TG :)

Re: PlayStation 3 - Official Thread

well that only means it'll look probably the same or even a tad better on the PS3 and probably a tad better also on the PC, who knows ;)

Panasonic LF-MB121JD Blu-ray drive ships June 10th for $850
LF-MB121JD.jpg

In what would appear to be a global release, though it's unclear from the machine translation, Panasonic just announced that they will be shipping their LF-MB121JD Blu-ray Disc drive for PCs (not to be confused with their DMP-BD10 player expected in September) in OEM, regular, and slimline slot-loading form factors, starting 10 June with support for 13 BD / DVD / CD formats. The drive delivers on both 25GB and dual-layer 50GB Blu-ray discs allowing you to write at 2x (72Mbps) speeds to both BD-R / RE formats via a suite of bundled software. It also features 8x write speeds to both DVD±R and DVD RW, 4x to DVD±R DL, 6x to DVD-RW, 5x to DVD-RAM, 24x to CD-R and 16x to CD-RW. Pretty much the same unit (and may well be) as the BenQ BW1000, but superior to both the Samsung SH-B022 (which can read but not write to DVD and CD formats) and the Pioneer BDR-101A which, oddly, the last time we looked, didn't support CDs at all. Panasonic also announced their 25GB and 50GB 2x discs which will hit the shelves starting April 28 just in time to prime the pump a bit.

TDK shipping Blu-ray media, still no players
TDK-BD-R25GB.jpg

Blu-ray blankEven with Blu-ray (and HD-DVD for that matter) players still MIA on store shelves, you might be able to buy the discs somewhere. They announced today they are shipping single-sided single layer (25GB) capacity discs. You can get the write-once BD-R blanks for $19.99 apiece while the rewriteable BD-RE will run you $24.99. They also announced they will ship dual-layer 50GB blanks later this year for $47.99 or $59.99 depending on -R or -RE. The discs also include DURABIS hard coating technology to protect against scratches dust and fingerprints form damaging your valuable (25 bucks a disc, yeah thats valuable) data.

Eeesh. That certainly puts a damper on the whole create-my-own-archive-of-everything-ever-known-ever project. For $25 we can buy a 50 pack of single layer DVD blanks and get cases to boot. Heres to hoping prices come down (and quick).

May help in the next gen WE editing scene. expensive tho.

Re: PlayStation 3 - Official Thread

Not for time, but hopefully PES7 or WE-11 will have all the lisences :)

Re: PlayStation 3 - Official Thread

some more price speculations. cheaper this time.
PSM "reveals" PS3 release date, price

The folks at Team Xbox have picked up the latest issue of PSM, also known as the Unofficial PlayStation Magazine, and let us know that the magazine is claiming to have the official launch date and price of Sony's latest game console. The PlayStation 3 is set to launch in early November, just in time for the post-Thanksgiving shopping frenzy, simultaneously with its online service. The asking price? $399 for US, €322 for Europe, and ¥45,965 in Japan.

While we're sure that a magazine entirely devoted to Sony's platform has some pretty good inside sources, and the prices and date seem pretty likely, consider this speculation until we get the official word from Sony (or, at least, the Official PlayStation Magazine).

Re: PlayStation 3 - Official Thread

that would be great, 329e. Still cant imagine it to be so cheap though, unless they have realised the pressure from xbox if they make it too expensive

Am I the only one who looks at that and goes "they dont excite/interest me in the slightest?" having yet another Sonic game is a joke! Sonic died when Sonic 3 & Knuckles had been out for about a year... why all these remakes?

Re: PlayStation 3 - Official Thread

 Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast was great, probably one of the best Sonic games ever and that was well past sonic & Knuckles..........

As for the launch games, when have they ever been exciting? The only time I ever remember being excited for launch games was the release of the N64.

Only game i would buy from those is Motorstorm. If its something like in its video but i doubt it wont be near as good.

Re: PlayStation 3 - Official Thread

Only Motorstorm and R6 Vegas seem slightly exiting. But only Pro Evolution and maybe Metal Gear Solid and Gran Turismo will convince me to buy it. Show me the PES I've been waiting for and I'll buy it, since my ps2 broke last year...I miss WE series!
