Serie A Thread - 2014/15 Season

Re: "Serie A" Thread (Genoa Demoted to C1)

Genoa and Torino were removed. Torino had financial problems and Genoa were penalized. Ascoli and Bologna were promoted. Treviso was restored to the Serie B

Re: "Serie A" Thread (Genoa Demoted to C1)

oki so the 3 promoted are bologna, ascoli and empoli. It is correct? It's important it's for a patch

Re: "Serie A" Thread (Genoa Demoted to C1)

Isnt Abbiati supposed to be a good keeper?

Re: "Serie A" Thread (Genoa Demoted to C1)

Yeah but never got a chance since Dida was first choice.

Re: "Serie A" Thread (Genoa Demoted to C1)

Messina are back in Serie A. Torino won't be in Serie A. Perugia slip another division. And Salernitana aren't allowed to register in Serie B either.
However, there is one more appeal date before the fixtures are drawn.

The verdicts are in from the TAR tribunal and it’s not good news for Torino, Perugia, Salernitana and Napoli – but Messina are back in Serie A.

Messina’s appeal has been accepted and the Sicilian club is readmitted to the top flight after a lengthy legal battle. Theirs was always the most solid position out of all the bankruptcy-threatened sides and supported by the local council.

The Lazio tribunal examined appeals against financially troubled clubs’ exclusion from Serie A and B, but mainly reiterated the verdict given by the football authorities.

This means that Torino are still out of the top flight, while Perugia and Salernitana will not be allowed to register for Serie B.

"We remain confident," stated Granata President Attilio Romero. "We had already been working towards having the right paperwork for the State Counsel on August 9."

Torino registered for the Championship with a bank draft that later proved to be false. The club claimed it was the victim of fraud, but has so far been unable to find financial backing to cover their £27.5m debts

In all 16 motions were handed to the TAR today – five of which were from Napoli in a bid to highlight ‘irregularities’ in the accounts of Arezzo, Ascoli, Brescia, Pescara and Vicenza – but all were rejected. Benevento have also been excluded from Serie C1.

The situation is still in the air, however, as the clubs can all lodge one final appeal to the State Counsel on August 9 - before the fixture lists are drawn up on August 12.

That date could also prove decisive for Messina, as the FIGC will probably lodge their own appeal to the State Counsel in order to have Messina excluded from the top flight.

Football clubs in Italy must prove their financial stability before registering for the new season. If they fail to do so, they are excluded and pushed down a Division to start again under new ownership.

Re: "Serie A" Thread (Genoa Demoted to C1)

wow this off-season in Italy has been one hell of a story. Not that far off start now and still not clear what teams will be in Seria A and B.

I hope Messina make it though, thanks for story Cellini ;)

They had great 1st season and dont deserve to be in Serie B after finishing in top half.

Not to mention if they went.. Rahman Rezaei, Iranian Int'l defender would then be playing in 2nd division and we can't have that so .. it's great news in more than one ways ;)

Re: "Serie A" Thread (Sanz Buys Parma/Roma Ban Lifted)

Will we see Parma returning to the glory days?

Ex-Real Boss Buys Parma

Parma's financial future looks to be assured after former Real*Madrid patron Lorenzo Sanz officially bought out the club.

Parma’s financial future looks to be assured after former Real Madrid patron Lorenzo Sanz officially bought out the club.

“Parma AC S.p.A announce that they have accepted an irrevocable proposal to buy 100% of the shares from the Spanish business Inversiones Renfisa S.L, led by Lorenzo Sanz, former President of Real Madrid. The transfer of the ownership and payment, one instalment having already been received, is expected by September 20.”

This is something of a shock move, as up until now the main candidate for a takeover bid was a Swiss holding company.

Sanz hopes to bring the Stadio Tardini side back to its glory days after its recent problems, as the bankruptcy of majority shareholders Parmalat forced the sale of star players.

The Gialloblu only avoided relegation this season by beating local rivals Bologna in a play-off and sold striker Alberto Gilardino to Milan for £17m.

Meanwhile, Perugia are also under new ownership following the bankruptcy of the club run by Riccardo Gaucci. The side will start again in Serie C under the Lodo Petrucci ruling with new President Vincenzo Silvestrini, a Roman businessman who was given a warm welcome by local fans.

Former Coach Ilario Castagner, who took the Grifoni to promotion, will be named Honorary President, while the tactician the Gaucci’s had chosen – Paolo Indiani – remains at the Stadio Curi. The entire squad, however, has been released due to the bankruptcy and a new team must be assembled from scratch.

Re: "Serie A" Thread (Sanz Buys Parma/Roma Ban Lifted)

Treviso FC and Ascoli Calcio will play in Serie A this season after the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) ruled that Torino Calcio and Genoa 1893 could not take their places in the top flight.

Serie B champions Genoa will instead start the 2005/06 campaign in the third division after the FIGC uncovered evidence of match-fixing in their final game of last season against AC Venezia. Torino, who triumphed in the promotion play-offs, were denied a return to the élite due to poor finances and must remain in the second division.

The decision means that, of the three clubs that gained promotion in June, only Serie B runners-up Empoli FC will compete in Serie A. The other two berths will go to Treviso and Ascoli, who finished fifth and sixth respectively, some way behind Genoa.

Re: "Serie A" Thread (Treviso, Ascoli & Empoli confirmed in Serie A)

Yay inter will play vs Treviso, time to smash them,
since they were 5th and 6th respectively (Treviso and Ascoli), i bet they will e a bonus team for the toehr teams lol
there may be surprises

Re: "Serie A" Thread (Treviso, Ascoli & Empoli confirmed in Serie A)

After watching Inter's last 4 games, theyve been playing like they have been every season..... underachieving yet again. Mancini needs to go if they want success.

Re: "Serie A" Thread (Treviso, Ascoli & Empoli confirmed in Serie A)

Well Mancini has this season to prove if he's worth it or not, last year his excuses were that luck wasnt on his side and the defence was not good. Now he has Samuel and many new good players, but am not sure about Solari yet, didnt impress in pre-season at all.

Really hope this is the season for them, if not screw you Mancio !

FORZA INTER !

Re: "Serie A" Thread (Treviso, Ascoli & Empoli confirmed in Serie A)

As i see it, Inter's downfall is the amount of new players they bring in every season. They need to chill just a bit, and keep a core for a few seasons. Too many new faces breeds unfamiliarity and confusion.

Mancini is not to blame at all. The coaches Inter have brought in were all of certain class, yet they still underperform. The problems are seeded much deeper, it's a managerial problem. Not even Lippi could do anything at Inter. Moratti loves his club, but his ways are only making it worse.

False promisies every year, less buys, more smart ones. Though it's always the same. Pizarro and Veron for one position, what a waste. Stankovic and Figo? etc. etc.

Professor Nutmeg was spot on, by the way. Inter would be dangerous, if they'd have someone like Moggi to do transfers and such.

Re: "Serie A" Thread (Treviso, Ascoli & Empoli confirmed in Serie A)

So who do u do you guys think will win the super cup ?

Juve or INter ?

I say Inter because they dinn beat us in competeive matches for a long time
Even if they have Vieira , niayahha

Re: "Serie A" Thread (Treviso, Ascoli & Empoli confirmed in Serie A)

Juve are missing loads of players.

Thuram, Nedved, Buffon, Chiellini, Vieira, Birindelli. I still think they'll win.

Re: "Serie A" Thread (Treviso, Ascoli & Empoli confirmed in Serie A)

I think Juve will win .. At least I hope they win :)

Abbiatti will play .. Hope him the best of luck :)

Though Inter didn't beat us in a competition for a long time, a very long time.

Re: "Serie A" Thread (Treviso, Ascoli & Empoli confirmed in Serie A)

I heavily sympathize with Inter because they are such a bunch of underachievers and because they are Milans rivals....

Re: "Serie A" Thread (Treviso, Ascoli & Empoli confirmed in Serie A)

Yur right there man. Inter have such a quality line up but don't seem to gel at all and i think tht point is proven with the amount of draws they tallied last season. With the arrivals of Luis Figo and Walter Samuel they may add sum consistency or then again they may jus b flops? wot u reckon?

Re: "Serie A" Thread (Treviso, Ascoli & Empoli confirmed in Serie A)

Inter 1-0 Juve
Veron

2nd ex-half now :)
