Rock Band Thread

Re: Rock Band 2

I've watched the chart for Mr Brightside and didnt look much fun TBF - none of the Killers stuff did.

I grabbed the 2 Soundgarden tracks and can highly recommend them (though Jesus Christ Pose is a bitch to sing!)

Re: Rock Band 2

Found this on Firebox and it looks AWESOME!

Re: Rock Band 2

£230, no ta, even though it is sexiiee. No incentive to play the cymbals because the game would never tell you to, but if there was a Guitar Hero version... Yum.

Which reminds me, I've got a bit of a dilemma, I'll be ordering RB2 now that all of the GHWT/RB2 instruments are compatible with eachother, but what do I buy the songs for? The Killers track pack is out now and I don't know what it's best to buy it for, I like Guitar Hero but all the other songs I've ever bought have been for Rock Band...

Re: Rock Band 2

Yeah but it reduces the amount of hittable (new word) things in the game from five to four in GHWT, that's no good. It would have to be made specifically for GHWT.

Can someone tell me the cheapest place to import RB2 from? I need a Region 1 (US/Canada) copy, I imported RB1 and I'm not losing the £50 worth of songs I've bought for it...

Videogamesplus.ca - about £30... get Rock Revolution whilst you are on there too :) I'm ordering that now!

Shame about the cymbals as that kit looks awesome. I wish they would patch it so any USB kit will work.

I am dead set now on learning the (real) drums and if I could get a midi kit (like the ION) and it worked in all games, that would be superb...

Re: Rock Band 2

Thanks a lot for that pboreham. Including shipping it works out at around £38, which is amazing really. You're buying it from the other side of the planet and it costs less than it would to walk down the road and pick it up off the shelf, insane.

With the UK release of SOCOM being put back to January I'm really tempted to pick that up as well, but I'll go into more detail in the SOCOM thread (if there is one)...

Re: Rock Band 2

I am still trying to work out what to buy, RB or GHWT.

I have changed my mind about a million times. I am thinking GHWT then buy RB 1 & 2.

What I have heard is that he GHWT instruments are better, but are prone to missing beats on the drums.

Has anyone had both for a while now that can recommend one kit over the other?

Re: Rock Band 2

Simple... get the GHWT kit - guitar is brilliant, drums are MUCH better - big bonus having 5 pads with raised cymbals and it all works with RB solus.

I used to REALLY like the RB guitar, but it doesnt compare with the GH one.

And dont worry about the drums, get the free cable from Red Octane and you can tune the drums sensitivity. I did mine yesterday and it is perfect now (red pad was hit and miss before).

Re: Rock Band 2

I'm getting annoyed an myself because I really really struggle to hit sequences of notes where it goes say yellow, blue, yellow, blue, yellow, blue etc. I know I can keep the yellow one held down and just press blue when it's needed, but I just literally can't translate that into the physical finger movement it requires! Therefore I'm really struggling with Mr Brightside, the best I've got on it is 82%.

Re: Rock Band 2

Really stupid question but getting desperate after having some kick-ass fun with the fixed-up GHWT drums.

I need to buy Rock Band 1 (US VERSION) again to import all the songs over to Rock Band 2, anywhere I can pick it up cheap? I saw one go on eBay for £15 the other day, I was out so I missed it. Gutted, they've been £30+ since.

And also, anywhere I can pick up a Rock Band 1 guitar? After having my first guitar battle with someone I really want to get one, the missus prefers the RB1 guitar but the cheapest I've seen it is just under £50 on ShopTo. Bit pricey...

Re: Rock Band 2

I hate the RB1 guitar, you can give me your GHWT guitar for my RB1 guitar if you want ;)

What about renting it from Blockbuster for just a week? Copy the songs, then return it.

Re: Rock Band 2

If I export my songs to the HDD, does RB1 then play the songs off the HDD too or will it still use the disc?

Re: Rock Band 2

Off the HDD, people are renting the game to get all the songs and then once they take it back they can still play them all.

It's not 100% of the songs that can be imported though "for licensing reasons", I'll have to find out what the missing songs are...

EDIT: Run to the Hills (THANK FUCK), Paranoid (hate it), and Enter Sandman (hate it).

How much was it at VG+? I reckon you will just have to buy it and then sell it on, that way you lose as little as money as possible.

£26 excluding delivery - when I've seen it go on eBay for £15 I'm not really wanting to spend more than a fiver or so over that. Like you said, I'll buy it and sell it on, so if I can get it off eBay for £20 then I can sell it on for £20 (hopefully) and it's cost me nothing. Shame you can't get the guitars from VG+ though, that would have saved me a few quid...

Speaking of VG+, I don't like how Rock Band 2 has "BACKORDER" next to it, bet it's a few weeks before they get enough stock in to start sending them out to all of their international customers! :ANX:

Re: Rock Band 2

Sweet, I will definitely be doing that. $10 for 50-odd songs isn't bad. :D

I think it's only $5 for the US version.

Incidently, Chris, I could export my RB1 songs to my HDD and you could borrow the game off me and export them from my disc and then post it back if you want?

I will love you forever if you do that for me. Is it the US version?

Getting fed up of waiting for a cheap copy on eBay, the very first one I bookmarked went for £15 while I was out, since then they've been twice that price... Watching one now with 30 minutes to go, went from £10 to £20 in five minutes. :(

If you're sure you don't mind PM me, I'll even pay the postage both ways if you want, it's only fair. I'll send it recorded and insured to make sure nothing happens to it, I know what the postmen are like around here. ;)

EDIT: Coincidentally, I've just got an email saying Rock Band 2 has shipped, brilliant!

Re: Rock Band 2

Just looked at buying either "Colour & The Shape" or "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" ... £13?!?!

I love those albums but I'm not paying that much for an album on Rock Band, I'll wait for a price drop or something.

Yea, bit steep isnt it? Trouble is, those albums ARE great and I've listened to them a tonne of times.

When they were released for Rock Band, I was dead excited and went back to listen to them again and realised that in fact, though they work as an album, they wouldnt (i.e. all songs) work in the game. Had the same problem on the whole with Doolittle.

So I just picked up a few songs from each that I loved and knew would be fun to play/sing and left the others.

Re: Rock Band 2

Did you just buy, My Hero, Monkey Wrench, February Stars and Everlong (if you hadnt got it opened up at the time)

Think I should listen to the album again fully and see if it's worth it, or just pick and choose.
