Re: Rock Band 2

Hmm, I'm really not sure what to do about the whole Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero Word Tour, and all the new instruments .

Re: Rock Band 2

I'm just keeping my RB1 stuff - it all works and that's all i care about. I'm not sure about picking up GH4 solus yet - the music studio sounds ok but then no vocals means it'll just be a load of over charted instrumental hardcore expert songs. The ones on Scorehero were like that where everyone was desperate to create that iconic hardcore expert track that only a few people could complete to prove their worth. But it just meant that the tracks weren't fun to play.

The tracklist sounds alright but most of the stuff i like is on RB2 anyway - after that it'll come down to DLC and so far i think RB will deliver more DLC over time than GH4. Especially as GH are trying to bring out artist specific versions of GH so they're holding back tracks for that.

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

Played this yesterday for the first time in a while and I loved it - I put it on hard as I knew i'd be a bit rusty and I hit 100% on the solo for 'You've Got Another Thing Comin' and then got 5 stars for "Joker & the Thief" which before I had only achieved 3 stars.

I'm gagging for RB2 now

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

So the guys who are selling this are you getting RB2, or GHWT or what? I don't wanna miss out! :DD

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

I'm getting RB2 but might pass on Gh4. I don't trust GH with their DLC and I don't like that their GH3 DLC is grouped up in packages and over priced compared to the RB DLC. I might have a look at GH4 when it's released and see what people think a few weeks after it's come out - but the instruments mean nothing to me - my RB guitar and drums work fine.

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

I'm getting the GH:WT bundle mainly for the instruments. I'd rather play RB than GH but the GH instruments look far better.

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

I'm still not 100% sure; the GHWT kit looks better, but it will be awkward playing the GHWT drums with Rock Band when the four pads aren't in a line I reckon (the yellow "pad" is the first cymbal).

I'm not particularly loving the tracklist on either game at the moment so I might just sell RB1 and the kit and wait for a bit.

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

Selling RB and getting GH4 kit and RB2 solus.

Funnily enough (or not?!) I've brought GH3 this morning! Been itching to get it for a while now and glad I did - still a fun game.

Almost feels like RB is a simulator of music/band play and GH is more a fun game? Dunno, maybe I'm bored of RB.

Anyway, I like the GH3 guitar to be honest, had no probs with it and its fun to play.

So, back on topic! GH4 for the new kit, music studio and set-list.

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

The new GH guitar looks ace as well.

Definitely - loving that touch sensitive neck and I see they've actually added 'buttons' to it now as well - coloured patches of the sliding neck that you can 'tap' like pressing down an actual button.

Add to that the star power button being easier to hit (and doubling up as a palm mute feature) - then thats one feature packed instrument!

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

A few people in here say they've managed to get £100 for it; any tips? Are you listing it as an auction or buy it now?

I'm thinking it has to be a collection surely, either that or I pay an arm and a leg arranging a courier... But then I'm worried I won't get as much money as I should if I list it as collection only. :eh:

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

Jay listed his on eBay for £100, But It Now, collection only, and it sold quickly.

Yeah stick it on as a B.I.N. at £100 collected. Or, do as I did and stick it on at £120 with the best offer button and you'll likely get £100 for it.

Collected was the only option in my mind, didn't have enough parcel tape, or the will to be faffing around with couriers.

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

Cheers chaps - I've stuck it up for £120 (inc Mic Stand) on AVF and expect to get haggled down!

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

Right, I've got a ton of questions; had a quick look through the multiple RB1/RB2/GHWT threads but I can't see the answers, apologies if I bug anyone here.

....................

1) I read the PSN listing for "Rock Band Song Export Key" and it states (quoted from PSN as I'm reading it now): Possession of the Rock Band game disc is required to play any exported songs. So in that case, even when I pay to export the RB1 songs, I will still need the RB1 disc to insert and prove ownership each time I want to play one, correct? That's how I read it anyway, from the way they've worded it it certainly doesn't mean you can sell your RB1 disc if you want to play the RB1 songs (and I'm having to sell mine with the kit because, as Dags rightly said, nobody wants to buy it without the game)...

2) If I buy the PAL version of RB2, will I be able to import my NTSC RB1 songs into it (although I doubt it)?

3) If I buy the PAL version of GHWT, along with the instruments, would they work with an NTSC copy of RB2 (which I may have to buy depending on the above question)?

4) So I'm being told if I buy the GHWT pack with instruments, they are confirmed to work with RB2, and the RB2 pack with instruments will work with GHWT. But, is this on PlayStation 3 only? Is it just Sony giving them money to sort out the compatibility, or are Microsoft doing it as well? I would prefer to buy the game on Xbox 360 and live without the DLC I bought; I've played it all that often it's no big loss anyway.

5) Anything else I need to know before I buy the wrong thing(s) and none of it will work with eachother?

2) Very much doubt it.

3) Very much doubt it.

4) I think Microsoft are doing cross-compatability as well.

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

1) The way I read it was "you will need A Rock Band game disc"

"A" being the operative word - meaning either RB1 or RB2.

No point having the export key if you need to put the disc in each time.

I think all it means is that if you export the songs, then you cannot just play them from your HD without any games. I think they have to put this in clearly black and white so there is no confusion!

2) No, I wouldnt have thought.

3) Pretty 99.9% sure the instruments are not region locked in any way.

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

1 ) I had a look on the game at the export songs option and it states that you have to purchase a export key that can be used ONCE to export the tracks to your HDD. Which is a bit crappy if your PS3 breaks in any way and means you have to buy another code to use your tracks. Although that does depend on if you care about the tracks on the RB1 disc by that time.

2 ) No you can't use USA DLC on the UK version

3 ) That should work yes - unless they've been stupid and purposely coded them not to work.

4 ) I heard its the same for both systems - both instrument swill work on both games.
