Yep, me too, buying the GH:WT bundle and RB2 solus.

To be honest, I'm not that bothered about the RB1 songs anymore, they're old news now. I would like to play my DLC though.

Weird, sometimes I love it and sometimes I cannot get into it (partly due to 'keeping it down' as I live in an appartment now).

No point in buying RB1 Dags if you can transfer the songs? The new patch lets you export them now to HD...

Does the RB2 patch let you copy across the DISC RB1 songs or just the DLC RB1 songs? And you'd still need RB1 to do it surely so I'd still have to keep it or rent it or something...

And will it cost a bomb to transfer all the songs (there's quite a lot)?

The patch enables you to copy MOST of the RB1 songs to your hard drive. The DLC songs are already stored on your HDD and RB2 picks those up automatically.

I dont think you need to keep RB1 as the disc isn't needed once you've exported the tracks.

Will cost $5 to export all your songs.

Think thats why they put the $5 fee in - to stop people just renting RB and copying the songs.

Sure, many people WILL do that, but figure in the thousands (millions?) of copies of RB1 sold, if everyone pays $5 to transfer the songs, that will add up to large pile of cash for HMX to keep the licensees happy.

DLC should pick up over next few weeks surely? Cannot wait for bloodsugarsexmagic and Colour and Shape. Only reason I'm going to hold onto RB1.

Be gutted if I sold it and they came out before I could get RB2/GH4.

Remember back during E3 a couple months back when I got a chance to go lungs-on with Rock Band 2, telling you about all of the nifty new features coming, including the ability to just let songs play in a randomized Jukebox Mode in the background while you do other things? Yeah, not happening.

Lastly, some folks have been asking about the status of the previously discussed Jukebox Mode. This mode was removed from Rock Band 2 in the final stages of development. We have no immediate plans to bring this feature back to the platform in the future.

I am majorly bummed. Jukebox mode was going to be the background noise and images to months and months of news post writing, and now I am lost like a ship without one of those ship-steering dealies. I guess it's back to hooking my MP3 player to the Xbox. Oh well. At least I've still got 20 free DLC songs coming my way eventually.

And suddenly, the pieces start coming together. First, we see a single track from AC/DC's famous Castle Donington show turn up in a screenshot. Then we hear that a standalone AC/DC version of Rock Band is in the works. Now we see a Wal-Mart stock listing that says an "expansion pack" for Rock Band 2 is on the way. And that it's AC/DC's Donington Castle show. That takes care of the Castle Donington bit, while being on Wal-Mart's system suggests it's a standalone, disc-based product (Why would Wal-Mart stock DLC?), taking care of the standalone AC/DC bit. Think we're about done here with all this behind the scenes stuff, Harmonix, an official announcement would be great. Thanks!

I was just curious what the thoughts on it were - to me from the youtube clips it just looks like RB1 with new tracks ans some new additions they could have given to us via a patch but decided to cash in on the price they can charge for a disc.

Exactly.

RB2 looks very poor (especially compared to the advancements of GH4).

Looks the same, feels the same - only additions are Single Player World Tour and World Tour online - both 'Meh' as I play World Tour on me todd anyway.

Track listing is getting a bashing at the RB forums too for being too 'metal' and not enough variation.

Looks like GH is the franchise to beat in the music war this iteration...

The only thing holding me back from GH4 still is the lack of DLC and quality DLC for the previous games.

Only the fucking Cult!!!! And 'Shoot the Runner' - thats really cheered me up Rock Band wise!

EDIT: Oh, didnt see Bandages too I was in such an excited rush! Love that tune...

Hold onto the game though, but I heard you can DL the RB1 stuff via the RB2 game, have I picked that up wrong?

So is the majority consensus to get GH4 with instruments and RB2 solus? What makes the GH4 instruments better than the RB2 instruments?

Drums have cymbols and are velocity sensitive. Guitar has 'touch sensitive' neck so you can slide down it and also a 'palm mute' feature.
