Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

Downloaded the Metallica pack today.

All songs are absolutely solid on Expert.

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

I got And Justice for All and love it - the other two I'm not so keen on. I had a look at them on youtube to see how they are and they looked very very hard on hard/expert so I passed.

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

I just can't seem to get the rhythm right for the main riff let alone the solo parts. Funny thing is I can play all three songs in the pack on the real guitar.

Games eh...

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

Any of you know if those IDT Prime cards still work? I set up a US account for my bro on his PS3 and it wont let me add money. He hasn't registered it or anything.

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

I'm sure Jack uses them - but i'm not sure if he's migrated over to entropay.

You've set up a USA account - when you say he hasn't registered it... do you mean the idtprime card? Has he gone into account settings and changed the address to the same usa address as his card?

The guide on the rockband forums....
For UK residents: If you're lucky you can find a store locally that sells prime cards http://www.idtprime.com . These are like an instant credit card, what you do is buy one from a local shop, call them up and activate (no need for an address). Then you can use it as a credit card to add funds to XBL or PSN (give your credit card address as whatever you have registered with XBL or PSN), though they apparently charge for purchases over $5, so add credit in small chunks. Now here's the fun part. Go into the idtprime website and register your card, then you can put more funds in it for less than entropay, or so I'm told.

I have no idea how to sort this out - I'm sure JB can explain how he sets it all up.

If you haven't bought an IDTPrime card yet then id probably say go with entropay.

From the rockband forums...
The easiest way that we've figured out of doing this is http://www.entropay.com . It's a virtual credit card of sorts where you pay to add credit to it and then you can use it online like any other credit card. You register with your real address and then you give XBL/PSN your fake US address for billing, entropay will not give you one (though they will give you all the other card details you might need). Apparently they sometimes do random ID checks which may cause problems but you'll just have to think happy thoughts.

I found it really easy to set up, transfer money across and you can put money on the card, load up the PS3 and fund your wallet in minutes.

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

I was being a bit facicious as thats Jay's standard non-helpful response to everything and suddenly all nicey-nicey when he needs a hand!

Entropay is the correct answer anyway.

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

I thought i'd activated it online because there phone lines are down for some reason but i hadn't.

I'll give it another try in the morning.

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

I still use them, because Entropay have had a problem with Maestro cards since I signed up months ago (and that's the only card I have) so at the moment they're about as useful as a stab in the eye. Pissed off with waiting for them to fix it now, it's been ages.

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

I seem to have hit a bit of a wall now. Can't seem to improve much on hard guitar or drums, barely on the first few tracks.

And that bloody Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter is an absoloute :censor: for me to play, I can't even do the beginning of it! :((

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

Hit the practice arena mate, helped me loads from the step up from Medium to Hard on drums.

Have you tried the coin mod? It improves the kit no end, and doesn't void your warranty or damage the kit in anyway. I was getting annoyed when the kits sometimes wouldn't register every hit I made. I find myself hitting every note I play now, especially on Orange Crush - REM.

Expert on guitar isn't that much of a step up from Hard IMO. It only tends to get really tricky on the impossible songs, ala Solos. Have a crack, I bet you'll get on better than you think. I don't like the strum paddle on the Rock Band strat though, feels far too spongy and sometimes a bit unresponsive.

EDIT: Btw the coin mod only works with EL models of drums. The sock mod is best for newer models. Oh and the coins I used were 2 x 1p coins, 1 taped to the skin and 1 taped to the body of the kit on each drum head.

My drums seem fine for registering hits, surprisingly.

The guitar, on the other hand, is poo though. The strum bar is awful (like I've said my times).

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

Providing GH:WT is compatible with RB2, I think what I'm going to do now is get GH:WT with the full kit and just buy Rock Band 2 solus. Saves forking out all that money for the new RB kit with cymbals. The GH kit looks a lot more robust aswell.

The devs have already confirmed the new guitar and drum set from GH: WT will work fine with Rock Band on the 360 so I assume it will work fine with Rock Band 2.

Check that link out I posted in the GH: WT thread. The drums and guitar look amazing.

Keep practising DagsJT. I was blocked too, on Gimme Shelter and one day I manage to complete it, I don't know how and why.

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

Tried it with two coins on each end drum and one in the others and did seem right. Tried again with one in each and its a lot better.

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

Perhaps Neil Peart feels handicapped by a drum set with only five pieces or perhaps Alex Lifeson simply demands strings on his guitars. It's certainly not the smooth vocals stylings of Geddy Lee that cause prog rockers Rush to fail one third of the way through their own "Tom Sawyer" on Rock Band. Perhaps it's the "Expert" difficulty? The performance, which really should have included Lee on vocals and bass, for ultimate accuracy, was taped prior to the band's appearance on The Colbert Report for posterity (and future embarrassment).

Re: Rock Band 2

Good news for those of you not looking forward to having two sets of plastic rock equipment in your living rooms. Activision has announced that Rock Band instruments (including the guitar and drums) will work in Guitar Hero: World Tour.

Also, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith has been patched to allow compatibility with all Rock Band guitars. Confusingly enough, only some Rock Band guitars were working with the game before.

Hopefully as this was in the PS3 section it means PS3 can finally use them across games and it wasn't just the 360 versions that were commented on
