Red Dead Redemption [PC/PS3/360]

Looks like ShopTo are only going to dispatch tomorrow now which is a shame so those who ordered from there will receive it on Friday. The only reason I ordered it from them was because I thought I would get it early. Now im getting it on release day I could have just got it from Tesco Online or from my local Blockbuster at a cheaper price.
 
im not so impress tbh it`s like ordering from a menu that seems endless. Online is shocking its nearly empty can`t believe everyone is playing single . This game has no ending playing 12 hrs I aven`t done many missions too busy skinning animals and selling belts. :LOL:

640P + QAA makes some blurry image quality similar to that of GTA4.

There're some significant loss in foliage making some epic scene on 360 looking down right pathetic on PS3.

On 360's side, trees are well alpha blended looking very smooth overall.

PS3 on the other hand, trees are processed with alpha test creating some serious shimmering artifacts.

There're some LOD issues on PS3 as well. As you approach buildings, shadow pop is very apparent on PS3 where it is very smooth on 360.

There're some missing self shadows on PS3, making its characters look rather flat.

LOD is a lot more aggressive on PS3, change in geometry and object pop etc are a lot more noticeable.


The frame rate is much worse on PS3 too.

It is definitely NOT better than GTA4.

They have taken the money but not dispatched yet, which I think is more than a little dubious. I went with Shopto also, cause in the past they have gotten it out early, now I'm doubting I will get it on Friday now.
 
The PS3 ones look like they need to turn the contrast down or something, other than that hardly any difference.

Can't see any foliage missing either.
 
Yeah I can't see much of a difference between the pictures. the 360 ones look a tiny bit sharper....but I'm no expert :DD

Can't find my fucking headset for the 360!! need to root around so i can gallop along with some of you guys :))

unfortunately I aint giong to get much time to play it when I get it at the weekend :((
 
There isnt much a difference unless your a complete graphic whore.
 
Think you're being really harsh there Paul! Not going to turn this into a PS3 v 360 thread (I'm getting it on 360 anyways), but there is barely any difference in those shots.

Perhaps in motion it looks worse (slower framerate, more popping etc), but in static shots they look virtually identical.
 
On the last comparison you can clearly see missing objects on the PS3. Shadows are missing and herbs and trees are not as sharp as on the 360.
That's really strange. Is it a bad port or a ps3 problem ? I remember the same thing happened with Ghostbusters and other games.

for me these are marginal differences which only are noticeable while playing both version. as i won't have a possibility to compare i will be pleased with my ps3 version !!!
 
Game in motion will probably look the same.

Then again, you have about 2 millions options to adjust the image in an HD tv so i guess it doesn't really matter.

At least it does no matter to me.
 
Oh no! How will we ever survive?! The difference in the images is sooooo big it's unbelievable. It will wreck the whole gameplay!! A tree is missing and there's one less shadow on the PS3!!! Noooooooooooooo.

Seriously, Who. Gives. A. Fuck????? It's still good enough for me whatever console I get it on... if I get it at all that is. I do laugh at some of the shit posted on these threads. Next somebody will be saying there is ankle tape missing!
 
yesterday i was at my local gamestore. rdr was already there but they refused to sell it before tomorrow or maybe todays afternoon... i bet all employees have their copy already at home :(
 
When you play the game on the 360 you will be able to tell how bad them PS3 shots look

The 360 is sharp, clear and in the daytime especially its stunning with all the details you can see

Thats complete and utter bollocks. I had the leaked version on my 360. I didnt play it for long as I dont want to ruin the PS3 version I have purchased. Yes it looks great, but so will the PS3 version. Those comparison shots do not show a substantial difference as most people here agree to. The only thing I can take from it is the lighting and trees being slightly better on the 360 but in all honesty you aren't going to notice the difference unless your either really sad and have them both running on different screens at the same time or your a fanboy of one console or the other.

The fact of the matter is is that the game is fantastic on BOTH CONSOLES. If you are fortunate enough to own both then the decision you make on which version to purchase will be based on more important factors such as what version the majority of your friends are buying, which controller you prefer and which console you play on more, probably not the small graphical differences between each console.
