he had in his contract that he had to remain the highest paid player and he had that for years. Do you think RM had to pay him for a status. I wouldn`t be quick to judge , let`s wait until he retires then see how RM treats him then.
 
he is amazing still... should have retired with Real..but it is good he will get the chance to play...i would smile if Real and Shalke met in some competition..and he would score against Madrid..

Madrid plays the secondth firnedly tonight. I'm waiting to see if Mourinho continues to try 4-2-3-1 with wingers, where is going to put Ronaldo and who is going to play alongside Alonso in the middle. They still need a decent left back, though.
 
How did they lineup against Club America? Is Canales going to start the season as first choice since Kaka' is out for a while.
 
VDV will start and Canales will get some time. There is also Granero but he can play on the sides also. Mourinho rotates a lot usually.

They still need a defender. They only have 3 at centre back not considering Ramos and Marcelo is a disaster in defence as a left back.

Marcelo is great in attack, but positionally he's utter crap. He's the kind of player that seems flashy when he has the ball and seems he's very good and indeed he does good things when he participates in the attack, but for some reason the team always ends up unbalanced when he plays. Playing modern football is very much based on positioning, and Marcelo can't understand that aspect of football. Hence why I see Mourinho having problems with him or trying to change his style of play. Another solution would be to put him as an alternative to LW, as he really has the skills to play there.
 
Yeah and also his decision-making is really poor! Whether it's deciding who to pass to after a couple nice dribbles or whether to cross or shoot.. he often hesitates and then makes the wrong decision! :LOL:

Not a good solid LB. I don't see Mourinho liking him too much as a left-back either.

Pedro León and Canales are showing class. It's important to have reliable backups in the team specially when we know Kaka' is out for a long.

And yes, Marcelo isn't properly the type of LB Mourinho likes. He prefers a tall player that ensures defensive consistency. Marcelo is more a LW. To be honest, I don't understand all the fuzz about Maicon when Madrid has a great RB in Sergio Ramos. In my opinion top priority is the LB and then perhaps a better CB than Albiol.
 
That would be an error in my oppinion. Ramos is a very good right back but at the centre he gets poor. He's a man to cover great spaces, a man of energy, he doesn't like to be static in his position and looses the man at his back a lot of times. Though Maicon is a beast and would add an extra quality to the team, but it's not a real need of the team right now.
 
Well, I think Mourinho is capable to sort the backline. He is known for his defensive play than his attacks. He only needs to worry about Barcelona imo . 2 horse race from start to finish poor Real Betis they were such a force to be reckon with that Oliveira was impressive a few season ago.
