Real Madrid Thread

It was silly to sign Ronaldo for 96 million € when they could have signed 3 or 4 great players for deffense and wingers (and keep great players as Sneijder and Robben by the way). Their problem is NOT scoring (look their scoring record last year), their problem is the balance of the team and the solidness.

In the last matches, their opponents could have scored more than one goal in EVERY match. Against Tenerife, for example, Tenerife wasted 2 1 on1 vs Casillas and had one post before Madrid scored the first goal.

I would say the most important player right now is Casillas, undoubtedly the best goalkeeper in the world. Without him, Madrid could easily have 3 or 4 points less, and yesterday he saved two SURE goals.

To be fair Ronaldo is proving worth the money as of right now. Kaka and Benzema need to step up. Carrying Raul makes things harder ontop.

If he keeps up this level of performance till the end of the season then yeah, he's definately worth the price tag.

Well if you ask me, no player is worth even half that price. But in relation to the average prices footballers carry these days, £80million is about right IMO.

But wouldn't it be better for them to have 4 top players instead of just one? I mean, Sneijder, Robben and 2 more top players would really solve a lot of their midfield-deffense problems. They don't have problems upwards, other than having Raul there by some unknown law.

(rumored) his contract also stated he will be the top paid player or match it with the top player, makes ya wonder

that's the same unknown law who say "Totti, Maldini and Del Piero must play as starters"...they are (or were, if we talk about Maldini) captains and legends for their club. And I think Barça will do the same with Puyol in future ;))

If you look at what Ronaldo acheieved with us in his last 3 years at United, I think its fair to say he had the biggest part to play in our success. That along with his ability to sell shirts and promote the Real Madrid brand around the world is why he's worth £80million. Maybe £80million sounds extreme but he's definately worth atleast £60-65million. Plus with all Madrid players giving 50% of outside money back to the club, he's more likely to recover his price tag than any other player.

I'm talking about playing football and having a solid team. With all the money they spent on him they could have signed needed players such as a left back, a good solid central defender and a right winger, plus keeping Sneijder and Robben. Everyone who's not a fanatic would agree that the team would be more solid.

All I'm saying is all that would mean nothing if one player alone (Ronaldo) could possibly win you the the title and the CL.

He can't though, Not even Maradona himself could win a World Cup on his own (the closest one will ever get to it though)

Its close to impossible to turn an average team's fortunes around with one player like Ronaldo. But he can definately take a good side (which would be an understatement for Madrid) and win silverware with them cuz its not like we're asking him to win the league with a bottom half of the table team.
Ronaldo is the perfect player to you from good to great.

Depends Rune. Real Madrid isn't the same as Manchester United. Here he had a defence of VDS, Ferdinand and Vidic. The season we won it he knew (along with everyone) we only needed a goal to knick wins. He also had the team geared towards him. You had our tenacious strikeforce of Tevez/Rooney creating space for Ronaldo to latch onto things(who in that season was given the "Free Role").

Real Madrid will probably be successful after time but I think some of the fundamentals he had here aren't their.

Thats true but he cant stop scoring even in the new environment he's in right now. Unless his scoring comes to an end at some point, they're still gonna be winning games cuz you have to remember that he's not the only match winner in their side.
They might not have the defensive stability we have but they can definately bring back the old "you score 3, we'll score 4" mentality back with the kind of players they now have.

I don't know how much Ronaldo could've done against Sevilla. Real should as usual thank their true superstar and forever GOD-like Casillas (you guys see the saves!!) between the posts or they would've lost by a much bigger margin.

2nd save was a bit lucky, the guy should have just flicked it over him or smashed it in the corner not put it straight at him. Still great stuff from Iker though, most keepers wouldn't have got near it.

You'd expect that team to beat most La Liga sides, never mind a side from the Spanish equivalent of League One.

lol one of RM worse players is worth more then that club, it's funny to see RM struggling after all these transfers
