Real Madrid Thread

RM looked so out of sorts until Ronaldo`s 2nd goal then everyone started playing like there was a purpose. Kaka has not found his groove yet

So thats now 6 goals in 4 games for Ronaldo already. He scored 6 goals in 40 games during his first season with us.
Its a bit a shame that some still dont consider him the best player on the planet just because of his attitude.

Most ppl are just jealous, but they don't really know him so it really doesn't matter. I would say that a vast majority of footballers are arrogant. My friend plays in the Lithuanian league. I posed a question to him on msn the other day. Asked him who though the best player in the world was. He said he was:P

He's no doubt one of the best players around, but the best one is Messi by far, not only in footballing skills, but also in attittude and out of the field. But that's my opinion and must be worth something as I'm the secondth best in the world. :SMUG:

The best thing about yesterdays game was the HD picture.

I hope they start to click soonish.

But Rune on current form he's not. hes "potentially" the best player in the world and even off form can score for fun and thats just the measure of his ability. Ronaldo will score more than Messi but performance wise he's been awful lately.

But thats the thing, how many players can score 6 in 4 and still be considered as awful in terms of performance?
Messi's just a more likeable figure in football, and more gifted. But Ronaldo is an all round better player.

But wouldn't you should take into account which teams did he face? Madrid has played against Deportivo, Espanyol, Zurich and Xerez. Goals against Zurich were a joke, actually, because of very bad goalkeeping. I wouldn't rate these teams very high, actually, while Messi has scored 3 goals in 2.5 matches (1.5 matches in la Liga and one against Inter), so there are your statistics.

Cristiano is a good player, but I don't see him defending as Messi does or destroying defences in static attack. He's a better shooter from range and has more powerful aerial play, but in every other aspect of the game, Messi is clearly better. Thing is, I wouldn't want ronaldo in my team because of his attitude, while messi never dives, never moans and when he's tackled, he just stands up and dribble the idiot who tackled him.

Oh, there should be no qualms about Ronnie's attitude at all.

He played under immense pressure and hatred after the 2006 World Cup and he's always been a figure that opposition supporters love to hate.

But his determination and his attitude to improve, again and again, is fantastic.

And don't act like Messi is some sort of angel, he threw a strop at Guardiola after he got subbed against Valencia last season and they way he rolled around after Del Horno took him out was ridiculous.

Seems to me that they are more similar than Barca fans like to admit.

A bit off topic, but if you're talking about the brutal tackle that Del Horno did to him at Stamford Bridge that left this bruise on his left knee:

Then yes, we talk about the same tackle.

Ronaldo is a great player but he's got a big mouth and a bit too much of arrogance. I challenge you to find a single bad word or sign of bad attittude in Messi.

Been watching a lot of Real Madrid lately. Looks like Perez's plan is working on me. :D Anyway, according to him, Real are 327 mill in debt and he is expecting to decrease this debt by 200 mill by the end of the season. How is he going to do that is beyond me.

The one who is impressing me a lot is Granero. The second h gets in he adds something special. Guti is also being good. Kaka is kinda of a dark horse doing work but not scoring.

Sad to see Ruud injured for 6 weeks while he was scoring. :(

You're forgetting that he's also faster, taller, has more power behind his shots (in training, he was only just behind Rooney and Scholes), a better freekick taker, a better penalty taker, can arguably get you more goals per season.
And as for his attitude, the lad went through a horrible experience after the World Cup, he lost his father at a young age only a few years ago. And take a look at the kind of challenges thrown his way in this video below:
YouTube - Cristiano Ronaldo - Bad Tackles On !!!!
No offence but the Premiership is a lot more physical league than anything else that I've seen and the treatment he got here in England was impossible to justify. Yes he's an asshole, yes he cheats sometimes but he more than makes up for it after the crap he goes through.
He might be at Madrid right now and it does bother me to see him in another shirt but he's still our boy and I'll always be proud of him.

I'm not denying obvious things, but Ronaldo is not a better penalty taker than Messi, both have similar accuracy there. By the way, Messi scored 2 more goals today against Santander 8both of them spectacular). That makes 5 goals in 2.5 league matches, all of them in normal play (no penalties, no free kicks). But Ronaldo is good looking so he must be a better player.

About the diving thing, if you watch barcelona regularly you'll know Messi never dives, I challenge you to find a single dive in the last year, while I could loose count of the times Cristiano dives and moans to the referee.

About Real, I think Granero is a great addition to them, even better than Xabi Alonso in my oppinion. Xabi is a player to cover big areas of the field, while Madrid will need a lot more the Granero type of player, someone who can reach the area with great vision and good first touch.

I still think, though, that they will suffer a lot when being behind, they have a powerfull team to play counterattack but will struggle against big teams if they can't play a better static attack.

I'm quite liking Kaka, though he's too irregular. Sometimes he just disappears and it's a shame on such a good palyer. Yet to see things of Benzema. Is the only one that still hasn't clicked in the team at all. Raul does better then him positionally and in terms of vision. Benzema has a powerful shot, but nothing more by now...

Drekkard, you're extremely blinkered if you think Messi never dives, he dived quite a bit in the two semis vs. Chelsea last year. He was moaning plenty to the referee as well, plus are we forgetting he scored a goal with his fucking hand? He's no angel, not by a long shot.

Ay, I think Messi currently is the better player as Ronaldo won't maintain his United form at Madrid (;))) But if I had to pick 1 and play to his strengths I'd pick Ronaldo.

He's starting to click...Was a peach of a goal and the lad had a really good game today. I do think defending in La Liga is much worse than the Premiership though, He couldn't beat a man last season but currently he's taking on 2-3 every time he picks up the ball!

Another myth. It's not the quality of defending, it's the quality of the covering that midfields provide in Spain that is worse but not much worse.

^ I agree with that, though it's also because midfield in Spain is more based in creativity rather than intensity. I like both styles if possible.

Makes you wonder how well Messi would do if he was in the Premiership for 6 years...

He would be a superstar just like he is in Spain. The guy is so talented and is no doubt the best player in the world.

Why wouldn’t Messi be a success in England? It seems the only argument people can come up with is ‘it’s more physical’.

Now if we look at the reasons why he could be a success.

1. Technically superb
2. Dribbles with close control at a speed other players cannot
3. Great vision and plays the correct pass and makes the right decisions
4. Very good finisher
5. Big Game Player

He has all the attributes to be a success anywhere. Its absurd to question whether he could play in England.

The thing I don’t understand is why people try and look at the weaknesses of Messi and then go on like he has something to prove. Well more on the line of that he needs to play In England to prove himself.

Messi already is at a level the majority of players will never reach. Week in week out he does the business. Ronaldo is awesome, he really is but he aint as good as Messi. Arguments like Ronaldo has a better free kick, stronger and a better header are not enough.

Rudd Gullit was a more complete player than Maradonna but he wasn’t a better player than Diego.

Yeh probably, Maybe its down to Ronaldo being in England for so long defenders new what he was going to do, while he's unpredictable for Spanish defenders for know.
