Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread - McLeish to leave!

Good luck tonight, Rangers - ignore the Celtic supporters, they are just jealous!

;) Just banter Celtic supporters before I get my head bitten off.

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread - McLeish to leave!

A man enters a bar and orders a drink. The bar has a robot bartender. The robot pours him the perfect pint, and then asks him,"What's your IQ?"

The man replies "150" and the robot proceeds to make conversation about global warming factors, quantum physics and spirituality, biomimicry, environmental interconnectedness, string theory, nanotechnology, and sexual proclivities.?

The customer is very impressed and thinks, "This is really cool." He decides to test the robot. He walks out of the bar, turns around, and comes back in for another drink. Again, the robot serves him the perfectly prepared drink and asks him, "What's your IQ?"

The man responds, "about a 100."

Immediately the robot starts talking, but this time, about football, rugby, supermodels, favorite foods, guns, and women's body parts.

Really impressed, the man leaves the bar and decides to give the robot one more test. He heads out and returns, the robot serves him and asks, "What's your IQ?"

The man replies, "Er, 25, I think."

And the robot says... really slowly,.................................................................
.... .................................................
"So............... de ye think your gonny beat Villareal?"

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread - McLeish to leave!

One win in 8 games overall and the lowest ever points total to qualify for the next stage tells the true story, although you put up quite an effort last night I do agree. Kris Boyd though...

I've never seen you do it before so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but do you know the next few lines of that song?

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread - McLeish to leave!

what version, there is two you know ;)

But no i will agree on the fact we never came away with as many points as we should have. Against porto we took 4 points, Bratislava we were unlucky not to win at least one of the matches, and Inter we were unlucky in the first game and the second we got a fair result. But its not about points its about getting through the group and we done that. Although we went out on away goals thats the way European football goes.

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread - McLeish to leave!

Rangers did well I hold my hands up, but the better team went through.

Heard the rumour about Rangers money for the summer. :lmao: How sad. Think David Murray would sell his maw if he could do generate money. Pity about all the jobs he's sacrificing though.

Nah he wouldn't sell her outright, prob just lease her over 10 years :P I think its a good bit of business, prom going ot keep the one store tho need to see how it pans out. But for Rangers it can only be good for the financial situation. So will you stop going to JJB now, or let me guess you never used it anyway???

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread - McLeish to leave!

 hehe...........actually that's right, it's a shop I never used. There's one in a local centre, that I pass by regularly, and I make a point of doing so, now I got an even better reason now and it's right next door to guess what? A Rangers Shop. :lmao:

Actually I don't think it's good business, surely Rangers earn more than £3m a year from merchandise rights, JJB are getting it all now. £18m supposedly up front is good, but depends how it is to be used.

Re: The Rangers 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' Thread - McLeish to leave!

Yep for 10 years it will be a lesser income from the merchandise , I dont know the actuall number but im sure its higher. But for the boost we require the now to build a strong side again the possability of a big injection with a new manager isnt going to be bad. Also the possability of more income from other deals are still on the horizon . But lets be honest if you had the money it wouldnt make a lot of difference , your men upstairs would still "try to get out of debt" and never spend a penny. Remember we were a club with what £80 milllion debt a few years ago, and now its been severly lowerd witht the prospect of an Injection of cash for players. The days of 9 in a row seem less like a distant memory. :P

Re: The Rangers Thread - PAUL LE GUEN!

Rangers Football Club are delighted to announce today the appointment of Paul Le Guen as the new Manager of the Club from the start of season 2006/07.

Following a series of positive talks with Chairman David Murray and Chief Executive Martin Bain, Paul has agreed to sign a three-year contract.

Le Guen, a former French international midfielder who represented Paris Saint Germain with distinction during his playing days, and as Manager guided Lyon to three successive league titles before leaving last summer, has also been courted by a number of Europe's elite clubs before making his decision to join Rangers.

Chairman David Murray commented: "I am pleased Paul has agreed to join Rangers. His track record speaks for itself and hopefully he will bring future success to the Club.

"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Alex McLeish for his achievements, having secured seven trophies in four and a half years."

Paul Le Guen commented: "I am looking forward to the challenge at Rangers. I received a number of interesting offers from major clubs around Europe in the last year, but this move to Scotland was the right one for me and my family.

"Rangers has a proud history and tradition and I hope to bring further success to the Club for the supporters."

Paul becomes just the twelfth Manager at Rangers and he will be joined by his assistant, Yves Colleu.

Re: The Rangers Thread - PAUL LE GUEN!

Celtic better watch out now! As long as the chairman provides the money and Le Guen can get some decent players he's after, I expect a very bright future for Rangers now!!

Allez Le guen! what a manager.. if Houllier is doing this well with Lyon, if only Le Guen had stayed, I'd put Lyon as dead fav to win CL this year.

Exactly, Houllier is doing well with Lyon, what does that tell you? Maybe the small fact Lyon won the league the two seasons prior to Le Guen joining them will give you a hint...

And btw, Paul Le Guen was head coach at Lyon, not manager, let's see how he copes as a manager.

Before you were saying it will never happen , then hes a good manager and you will belive it when you see it. Now its happend you wanna pick faults with it anyway you can.

Its the news you were dreading , the news that you wish was just a bad dream, so bad Ive even been told about stories on Talk Celtic that there may be some investors about to plough money into Celtic. Well guess what is us with the money, its us that has PLG and not G Stressen so bite it , and deal with it. I told you we would sign him and now Im telling you we will be the stronger team in a years time, back to the 9 in a row days may be too strong but we will be ther better side in Glasgow once again. You can buy all the seats in a stadium and you can buy all the players in the world but you cant buy class. We are the people !!!!!!!!!

Re: The Rangers Thread - PAUL LE GUEN!

He was head coach? I don't know exactly what that means I mean I do but I didn't know.. in any case he was the MAIN man in charge of Lyon then whether his job title was manager or coach or head coach and he'll be main man in charge of Rangers now.

Let's see how he does.

Also if I'm not wrong, Lyon won the league ONCE before Le Guen comes and that was with Santini, then he became French NT coach, Le Guen took over and won it 3 times in a row.

The fact that Houllier is also doing a good job does give you the hint that Lyon is just too awesome itself the squad so I get what you're saying but at same time my point was that hell if he was still in charge of Lyon, they'd be dead favs for me to win CL this year.

Re: The Rangers Thread - PAUL LE GUEN!

Cloud, if you can find where I said it would "never happen" then I will be more than happy to be in the wrong. I said I'd believe it when I seen it, as in yes I was doubtful to whether he'd come, not that I refused outright to believe it. I was doubtful, yes.

I've already agreed with your assessment that you will be a better team on the previous page, but I am hardly shiting myself. It will be a closer league, it should be even more exciting than this year. Just how much money he'll get is yet to be seen, from what I've heard a fair chunk of it is earmarked for debt management, given that Ibrox is shortly due to be revalued and be the only property in Govan with a value that's fallen. You've also got a number of duds in your team on decent-length contracts that will have to be found new clubs or paid off.

PLG is a good appointment, of course he is, but from a Celtic fan's viewpoint you can't expect anything less than to point out the negatives! A bit of a reality-check is needed here. Celtic fans who say they don't care and say outright that he'll fail need one, but so do the Rangers fans who seem to just assume that the league title will be theirs next year.

PLF, head-coach means he didn't do the entire job of a manager, he picked the team and told them how to play. Of course, that's the most important part but it's still not the exact same pressure (anything less than first in the SPL will be a domestic failure here).

I read that Le Guen joined Lyon in July 2004, wrongly, they only won one title before he joined.

jambos are like a mini version of ra sellic
diving cheating whingers
we will still take 2nd no problem and next year the worst celtic team in history will know just who is the people

Re: The Rangers Thread - PAUL LE GUEN!

wind up the mhanks? not really but why would the truth wind them up in any case? They know the truth and they know this season will be the last chance for a good few years they will have anything to celebrate about. The PLG revolution is just around the corner!

Re: The Rangers Thread - PAUL LE GUEN!

Incoming Rangers boss Paul Le Guen is believed to have put Lyon forward Sidney Govou at the top of his shopping list.

Le Guen is already planning major changes at Ibrox when he takes over from Alex McLeish at the end of this season.

The Frenchman is scouring the transfer market for reinforcements and reports emanating from France claim he is ready to raid old club Lyon for Govou.

Govou came close to leaving Lyon last summer as he seeks a new experience away from Stade Gerland.

Le Guen is a big admirer of Govou having worked with him at Lyon and is hoping to lure him to Scotland.

Lyon are thought to be willing to let him leave for the right offer and Le Guen is ready to firm up his interest in the versatile forward.

Govou's agent Frederic Guerra insists he has not had any contact with Le Guen or Rangers over the player.

"I haven't received any phone calls about that," Guerra told skysports.com.

"We are obliged to wait to know about the situation.

"Maybe Le Guen has asked Lyon for Sidney, but he hasn't called me yet."

Rangers are also reported to be tracking Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh.

Chamakh has earned rave reviews for Bordeaux in the last couple of seasons with his goalscoring exploits and a number of clubs are thought to be keeping an eye on him.

Le Guen is believed to be keen to bolster his attacking options and has made some new forwards his top priority.
